4. Groupon's corporate strategy
As Groupon is established in many countries of the world, a global strategy has to be pursued on the
one hand. This leads to a gain in brand equity, brand awareness and global efficiency.
On the other hand Groupon offers national as well as local deals, which caused the business to act
locally responsive as well. Groupon, for this reason, can be considered transnational, as the
company acts "more responsive to local needs while capturing the benefits of global efficiency"
(Bartlett and Beamish, 2008, p13). Today's MNEs compete in highly complex, diverse and
constantly changing business environments. This is due to globalization of markets as well as
acceleration of product and technology life cycles. Most importantly however is the intensification
of global competition for Groupon. Most online services are easy to imitate. Therefore it has been of
utmost importance that Groupon's managers take the right actions and develop appropriate
strategies. Groupon has access to highly educated international managers that sense and interpret
complex and dynamic environmental changes.
These managers have developed and integrated multiple strategic capabilities in order to cope with
today's business world. As it was very hard for Groupon to enter foreign markets,
Groupon identified several companies that were interested in forming joint ventures. An important
part of their global expansion strategy that

Gamers And Their Opinions Matter
Gamers like to believe that their opinions matter. Whether it's ignorance, or simply blind sense of
entitlement, they all like to think that their collective voice means something, that their opinions
alone, will transform the landscape of interactive entertainment.
Over the past decade any person with access to the internet could experience first–hand, numerous
''uprisings'' within the confines of countless video–game related discussion boards, YouTube, and
plethora of social networks. Whether the vocal minority was rebelling against an alteration made by
a developer within a game, or even the game itself, they've more often than not, failed to achieve
their ''goal''. And their failure doesn't usually stem from the fact that in majority their arguments are
irrational, flawed to the core, and simply absurd, but from the fact that a message on the internet, no
matter how strong, will not result in any desirable outcome.
An essay on Reddit, whether supported by a handful of people or an entire army of internet warriors,
will never persuade a developer to divert its course and please the ''fans'' with the changes they
desire. And this is because developers, even the ones who put the fans leagues above their personal
wellbeing, have no final say in what makes the final cut. In fact, some developers are even unable to
choose which title they want to create, as they are just one step above the average consumer on the
ladder of the interactive entertainment hierarchy. Hierarchy,

The Causes Of Tencent Games
Behind the causes: a big market share In previous sections, it has been discussed that Tencent
Games has a bad reputation because they lost sight of customers' importance and many competitors
came after them. However, there is a bigger reason behind these facts which caused all afterwards
problems–Tencent Games' big market share. According to research data, since 2009, Tencent Games
became as the company who controls the largest market share in Chinese gaming industry. As of
2015, Tencent Games has managed more than half of the overall Chinese gaming market share (See
Table 2 and Appendix C). To increase its sources of revenues, the main way of Tencent Games to
reach this position is by focusing on many different types of games with different ... Show more

Firstly, the degree of customers' satisfaction will be influenced negatively when people realize the
company, whose services are used by them, is considered a company with a bad reputation. In May
2007, Tencent Games announced its first self–developed Kart Rider game "QQ Speed." The game
went viral quickly since the day of the announcement. After one year of operation, QQ Speed
attracted nearly one million users who were playing the game at the same time. In August 2009,
however, Tencent Games received a subpoena from NEXON (a Korean game company who
developed a similar Kart Rider game before Tencent) which declared that QQ speed's physical
engine (an engine for game designing) was more than 80% similar to NEXON's game. In other
words, they claimed that Tencent Games was copying NEXON. It was not true, however. Tencent
presented enough evidence to show that they were innocent, and they did win the lawsuit. What they
did not realize was the fact that news about the trial spread faster than the company could imagine,
and since Tencent Games has experienced similar cases before, the public doubted Tencent Games'
reputation right after the news came out. Three months later, Tencent conducted customer research
internally (not through the public but through their internal database). Through Tencent's bulletin

Essay On Bad Moms
China's ties to Hollywood studies just got a little stronger. LA–based studio STX Entertainment
announced this week it has received investments from two Chinese companies: internet giant
Tencent and Hong Kong–based telecommunications company PCCW. STX, which produced the
summer comedy "Bad Moms", expects to use the capital to create more content and distribute it
globally, particularly in Asia. In return, audiences in Hong Kong and China with an appetite for
Western–produced films will also have more access to the Hollywood studio's entertainment. "The
new alliance represents an important milestone in expanding PCCW's strategic investments into
compelling content creation, not simply for audiences in Hong Kong but also for international
audiences," said PCCW Managing Director Janice Lee in a news release. ... Show more content on

Just 36 foreign films are allowed in the country each year and the summer months are typically a
blackout period to give a boost to domestically–produced films, though that rule has eased this year.
Part of the strategy to be let in includes getting investments from Chinese firms.
Cinema operator Dalian Wanda Group made headlines in February when it announced it is in talks
to get a 49 percent stake in Paramount Pictures. The conglomerate bought AMC Entertainment
Holdings in 2012 for $2.6 billion and earlier this year bought Legendary Entertainment – the
company that produced "The Dark Knight" – for about $3.5 billion.
This also isn't the first Chinese investment STX has garnered. The studio launched two years ago
with capital from Chinese private equity firm Hony Capital, which also provided additional funding
in conjunction with Tencent and PCCW. STX focuses on mid–range films ($20 to $60 billion) and
inked a three–year deal last year with Chinese firm Huayi Brothers to produce 12 to 15 movies each

Disadvantages Of Uber China
Uber China Merges with Didi Chuxing
On August 1, 2016 the Uber Newsroom released a news that Uber is selling its China Uber's
operation in a share swap in which it will receive 20% of the new company which means that
August 1, 2016 is the end of the costly taxi war between the local Didi Chuxing (AKA Didi Kuaidi)
and Uber China.
The winners of this costly taxi war are Alibaba (China company), Tencent (China company) and
Apple (US company) since these three companies own relatedly high economic share in Didi

biggest internet companies in China which means these three companies have to compete the same
market. Baidu has a significant negative effect on this costly taxi war whereas Alibaba and Tencent
gain many positive influence. What I mean is that Baidu will probably not sufficient free cash flow

Conference, Beijing. "How can I build a company in China that can last over 100 years?" Lei Jun, a
back then 40–year–old investor and serial entrepreneur, always asked himself when he was thinking
about founding a company to prove that high–end hardware can be made in China, despite the
country's reputation for manufacturing low–cost, low–quality goods. At that time, two very well–
known and successful Chinese companies inspired him. One of them is Tong Ren Tang, a 340–year–
old traditional Chinese medicine company. It taught Lei that a company should never produce
lower–quality products for the sake of cost. The other company is Hai Di Lao, a hot pot chain,
which demonstrates how successful a restaurant can be by putting extremely strict emphasis on the
superior customer service for over ten years. These two core values, high–quality product and
service, eventually became the foundation and guidance of Lei's new venture – Xiaomi Corporation,
a smartphone company. In Lei's prior career, he served as the

Case Study Of Macrolink Group
Abstract: As consumers' level of consumption rises, more and more industrial corporations have
turned to investing in the entertainment sector due to the need for sustainable growth.
In late 2017, a simple headline caught our attention. According to news from Macrolink Group's
official website as well as numerous other channels, the company has decided to invest 22 million
RMB in Tencent Music Entertainment Group, with the deal being officially signed in September.
Over 20 other companies, including BHG Long Hills Capital, CMBI, and BOCOM International
also participated in the investment.

(Macrolink and Tencent), but the motivation behind the investment, ... Show more content on

Macrolink Real Estate Co., Ltd., the appropriately named real estate company under Macrolink,
went public in July of 2011 through a reverse takeover, aiming to integrate its core services with
cultural tourism. 5 years later after the company's IPO, the company changed its name from
Macrolink Real Estate to Macrolink Culturaltainment Development to more accurately reflect its
change in direction. The corporation's winery company, "JLF Investment Co. Ltd." saw a timely
name change as well, to "New Silkroad Culturaltainment Limited."
Of course, this change is more than meets the eye. The company's adjustment in its tourism business
model led to the largest percentage of growth in both its gross revenue and profit. According to an
annual report published in April last year, Macrolink Culturaltainment brought in an annual revenue
of 7.5 billion RMB in 2016, an increase of 61.41%, and its growth in annual profit reached a

The Chinese Music Industry’s Plight and Future
The Chinese Music Industry's Plight and Future
At first thought, some people, including myself, would not include the music industry as part of the
grand macroeconomic development blueprint. Yet music not only represents an essential part of our
modern lifestyle, but also exists as a key stimulus to economic growth. Nevertheless, following the
advent of the internet, rampant piracy and lack of copyright protection led the Chinese music
industry into the darkest period it has ever seen. Song Ke, one of the China's most prominent music
industry gurus, has been pressured to open two Peking duck restaurants to have sustainable income.
Thousands of musicians have been forced to reevaluate their lives and decide whether they would

China both as a cultural empire and as a transitioning economy need its music industry to prosper
and the demand for plausible solutions is urgent.
An important concept to note is that having music does not equal to having a music industry.
Chinese music has existed for thousands of years and represents a distinctive genre in world music
today. However, for the "music industry" to form, there must be a clear and sizable economic chain
that links producers of music products to consumers. Additionally, the existence of pop music is a
prerequisite for the music industry to exist. Again, to clarify, pop music here does not refer to a
specific style of music but rather music that is popular or widely consumed by a significant portion
of the population. Another thing to note is, for the purpose of this essay, "Chinese music" shall not
include those by Taiwanese or Hong Kong companies since they do not contribute to the Chinese
national GDP. "Big Data" startup entrepreneur Ailuo Wang said during an interview, "With no
money, there is no industry" (Song). Creative industries such as film and music must find routes to
sustainable profit before they can begin expanding on their creative fronts. This is why the Chinese
music industry has been waning despite the ever expanding music consumer base. During the 1990s,
Chinese artists can easily break a million in record sales individually, yet in 2012, fewer than 10

Public Relations as a profession first gained its presence in China in 1980s, by western concepts and

UFC Media Strategy Essay
Introduction
Many organizations have had to change the way they operate because social media has become such
a powerhouse that has to be implemented in their marketing and communication strategies.
Social media can be defined as web sites and other online means of communication that are used by
large groups of people to share information and to develop social and professional contacts: Many
businesses are utilizing social media to generate sales (Dictionary.com, n.p.).
For the sport industry, social media has enabled fans to have a closer relationship with sporting

This paper will use Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as
an illustration to analyse how this organisation uses social media to achieve its business objectives.
The UFC is the leading MMA organisation and promoter and the two have become
indistinguishable, just like the sport of basketball is formally known as National Basketball
Association (NBA).
Background of UFC
The UFC was an adaption of a full contact sport known as Vale tudo which originated from Brazil.
The ultimate fighting championship was then created with minimal rules in the united stated in
1993, and it was promoted as a contest which decides the effective and well–rounded martial art for
unarmed combat situations (UFC, n.p.). Long after the UFC started the fighters understood that in
order to be competitive among the martial artist, they will have to train in additional disciplines.
Therefore, this helped the UFC fighters to become well–rounded and balanced fighters that could
fight on the floor as well as standing so that then compete at an elite level. So the mixed martial arts
(MMA) of today are from the blend of different fighting styles and skills. In the present days, UFC
is the prime organisation in MMA with the enforced Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts without
exemption. Nowadays, the UFC has progressed into an organisation that regulates its environment
where safety is paramount. The UFC athletes have to be capable to compete in many forms of

Swot Analysis Of Amazon
Amazon is the world's largest online retailer and is indeed a pioneer in the online retailing world.
Though it started as an online bookstore, its success in its venture drove it to diversify into selling
anything that can be sold online. Furthermore, Amazon has also expanded globally and now
operates around the world through a combination of localized gateways and globalized delivery and
logistics platforms. Amazon follows a well implemented strategy that contains five parts.
Arenas
This part of the strategy explains where Amazon will be active. This includes product categories,
market segments, geographic areas, and core technologies. Amazon sells virtually every legal
product one can imagine. They also successfully operate in many different areas which will help
sustain their competitive advantage in the market. Shipping: In recent years Amazon has been
building up many aircrafts and branded trucks, has entered the ocean freight industry, and has lead
the way of innovation on drone delivery. Amazon's lightning–fast 2–day delivery for Prime
members (it's even testing same–day delivery for some products and locations) is a demanding
timeframe for third–parties like UPS and FedEx to abide by to. So, Amazon is in–housing logistics.
The next step would eventually be to sell its shipping services once a big enough demand has been
created. Banking: Amazon's eventual move into banking and financial services is equally
foreseeable. Amazon teamed with Wells Fargo & Co. to

Baidu : A Chinese Search Engine Provider
Introduction
Baidu is a Chinese web services company that mainly offers Chinese language search engine for
websites, music and images. Baidu also offers other services such as Baidu Baike which is similar to
Wikipedia, Baidu Maps, etc. Baidu was founded in 2000 by Robin Li and Eric Xu and now the
company's headquarters is located in Beijing.
Portfolio 1
1. Why is Baidu number one in its industry? Where is its competitive advantage?
As a Chinese search engine provider, Baidu is almost unrivaled compared to its competitors such as
360 search, Sogou search, Google China, Yahoo China.
As can be seen at Figure 1, Baidu owns 85.9% of the Chinese Search Engine Market Share. Even
the world's leading search engine provider Google could not compete with Baidu in the Chinese
market. Especially during the attempt of cyber attack on Google at 2010 (Yousuf, 2010) to access
Gmail accounts of Chinese human right activists, which has led Google to decide that they would no
longer censor results on google.cn such as pornography or references to topics such as the
Taiwanese independence, the Dalai Lama and the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre and redirect all
the searches to a Google Hong Kong. This allowed Google to avoid the strict censorship rules that
Baidu and others in China must follow, while also putting it at a major disadvantage in the huge
Chinese market (Einhorn & Stone, 2010). Moreover in 2012 when the Chinese

Chapter 10: Shenzhen Economy Today
Many believe that the city of Shenzhen will become one of the most important cities in the world in
the coming decades. It's geographic, social, financial, and political position within the Chinese
ecosystem makes Shenzhen the potential city of the future. Over the past decades China witnessed
enviable Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth year over year, taking into account the economic
collapse of 2008. The engine behind that growth was the city of Shenzhen. A city comprised of
fishing villages and a population of around 30,000 in the 1970's is now a city with over 10 million
residents and has experienced growth like the world has never seen before. In less than half a
century, the city is a far cry from what it used to be, and is often referred to as the "instant city."
Shenzhen has seen rapid economic development and is among the top 5 most successful cities in all
of the Pearl River Delta and mainland China. Considered one of the most competitive cities in China
due to its rapid growth, in 2015, Shenzhen saw an 8.9% GDP expansion, totaling approximately
1.75 trillion yuan or US$270 billion. The city brought in 723.8 billion yuan in 2015 fiscal revenue,
compared to the city's debt of just 15.9 billion yuan, which is a far cry from the country's
government debts which run into the trillions.
Considered the "starting point of China's transformation," in 1979, the city of Shenzhen was the first

Distribution and Pricing.
4.2.1 Product Policy of Prada
Considering current market condition, customers' increasing aspiration for social approval by sorts
of luxury brands has generated an environment of counterfeiting. In recent years, the value of
counterfeiting products, which are traded, is expected to grow to $450 to $650 billion by year 2015.
Based on statistic data, fashion is taking the greatest proportion of counterfeiting product in Italy in
year 2008 (shown in Table I). Besides, since luxury brands like Prada are also producing and selling
watches and perfumes etc., the counterfeit product of luxury brands is much more than the value of
counterfeit of fashion. It is obvious that counterfeiting products have been growing into a significant
threat to luxury products. The category of Prada can be also found in Table 1 below, ranging from
Fashion, IT product, to even Toy.

The Government Censorship In China
Introduction:
Censorship is a form of suppression to one's freedom of speech, and the access towards certain
information. When computers started to appear on the tables of Chinese civilians in the 1990s, the
Chinese government launched the Great Firewall of China (GFW) into action. Today, almost half of
China's population are internet users, marking 668 million, doubling the United States' population in
2013. However, the Chinese government's tactic on censoring the internet to deny access to certain
foreign websites has both positive and negative effects on the country. This research wants to
determine whether those websites should be censored by the Chinese government.

How Micro Transactions Can Use For Play And Paid Games Are...
Micro–transactions
Background
The use of micro–transactions in free to play and paid games are the norm nowadays. The different
types of micro–transactions in games can range from simple color changes, buffs, buying items, and
account transfers. The concept behind micro–transactions is to let the consumer choose what they
want, and it lets the developer earn extra money on the side. The problem with using micro–
transaction in games is that the developers will stop making good games, and instead make games
revolve around the necessity of using micro–transactions (Rybicki, 2006).
Revenue
The amount of money a free to play game earns will shock most people. According to SuperData, a
marketing intelligence firm, Riot Games in 2013 earned $624 million from League of Legends

In the 2nd half of 2007, the developers of malicious software chose two distinctive paths. One group
terminated such software, while the other turned to viruses and Trojans. Thus, Zhou decided to enter
the field of Trojan cleanup. Unlike anti–malicious software, the anti–Trojan segment had been
dominated by major anti–virus developers. However, having analyzed the technological differences,
Zhou believed that there were opportunities for Qihoo in this area. As Zhou noted, "Trojans are
distinguished from conventional viruses in that they require simple technologies, which means an
accelerated lead time in development. In some cases, a developer can create a Trojan in just a few

anti–virus developers launch only one cleanup program every year, supplemented by periodic
updates. Facing fast changing Trojans, the conventional anti–virus engine technologies are less

Abstract
The internet finance industry is newly developed in China, with only a very brief history. However,
the industry is growing at a rapid pace and is becoming a significant part of the overall financial
industry in China. In terms of financial functions, internet finance is mainly comprised of payment
and settlement services, sales of asset management products, and financing. Without discussing
any one particular area in depth, this paper is intended to provide a broad overview of each of the
business models of internet finance in China, their development and how they interact with the
traditional financial sector.

However, it is only in recent years, with the widespread of many internet financial innovations, that

The Is A Mobile Messaging App For Sending Text, Voice, And...
Known in Chinese as Weixin, "micro message," WeChat is a mobile messaging app for sending text,
voice, and photos to friends and family. It was launched just 4 years ago by Chinese investment
holding company Tencent, one of the largest internet companies in the world. As of earlier this year,
WeChat had more than 500 million monthly active users among over one billion registered users,
almost all of them in Asia.
WeChat quickly gains popularity due to its features and appearance. It allows users to easily connect
with family and friends by providing text messaging, video call, hold–to–talk voice messaging,
group messaging, sharing of photographs and videos, and location sharing. Compared to some other
duplicate apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat has more features that allow users get to know more
friends via "Drift Bottle," "Shake", and "Look Around." This app is free and is available on many
phones, and it requires user to have it installed on a phone in order to use it.
Below, we highlight nine of WeChat 's features that keep the user base strong.
1. Video Call. It allows users to make face–to–face video calls. The process is just like dialing your
contact in your cell phone's contact book.
2. Voice Message. It can simplify your chat messages. If you are spending hours drafting a long text
message, think about sending a WeChat voice message instead. You just need to hold to talk. In such
way, WeChat turns your smartphone into a walkie–talkie. You can use that feature under the

The Demonstration Of Riot Games
The team at Riot wanted to create an online, multiplayer–focused game that would keep growing,
changing and evolving indefinitely. And it wanted to make that game free, funded by optional micro
transactions. In 2007, traditional game publishers had barely heard of such a model, much less
considered it viable. Those publishers were not interested in what Riot proposed. Players are given a
free game with few limitations and can only proceed to the next level by playing and learning more
about the game. This is reflected in their Revenue Streams. Revenues come from players wanting to
customize their characters and the way they interact with the game, not from selling game power to
their players.
The Key Activities at Riot Games is developing games they love to play. They are also focused on
continuous improvement of the game. The founders support their employees at Riot Games to play
and learn through gaming themselves. Within two months of launch, League of Legends hit its first
major milestone: 100,000 people playing the game concurrently. In late October of 2009, following
six months of beta testing, League of Legends launched. The game was totally free–to–play, and
Riot had ambitious plans to keep updating it, adding to the list of 40 playable champions available at
launch.
Though it had already been alive and at work for a couple of years, Riot in 2008 stepped into public

Strategic Management Accounting : The Beginning Essay
Executive Summary
Introduction
Discussion
1. Strategic Management Accounting: The Beginning
To survive and succeed in the ever–evolving global business climate requires an understanding on
how to formulate business strategies that are future proof (Daud, 2012). In reaction to this growing
pressure firms are looking for innovative ways to remain competitive and apply a strategic
perspective in every aspect of their business. This led to a close up on conventional management and
cost accounting practices and sparked criticism for its lack of a strategic focus. It was argued that
traditional methods fail to provide relevant information for strategizing due to time delay, bias
towards financial reporting requirements and its short term perspective (Johnson and Kaplan, 1987).
This saw the emergence of Strategic Management Accounting (SMA). Despite growing interest
globally, there is still no definitive consensus about what SMA actually is, what it involves and how
it is distinguished from management accounting (Agasisti et al, 2008).
1.1 What is it
Essentially SMA falls within the management accounting umbrella. It is management accounting
practices becoming strategic through its use within business activities through which strategy is
enacted (Cuganesan et al, 2012). The term was coined originally by Simmonds who described it as a
collection of management accounting information about the business and its competitors, which are
then used in the development and maintenance of the

personal photo stream service called 'Moments' for users to share their 'best moments' to people in
their contact list (Tencent, 2016). Moments is a relatively private space only opens to users' friends,

Groupon's corporate strategy As Groupon is established in many countries of the world, a global strategy has to be pursued on the one hand. This leads to a gain in brand equity, brand awareness and global efficiency. On the other hand Groupon offers national as well as local deals, which caused the business to act locally responsive as well. Groupon, for this reason, can be considered transnational, as the company acts "more responsive to local needs while capturing the benefits of global efficiency" (Bartlett and Beamish, 2008, p13). Today's MNEs compete in highly complex, diverse and constantly changing business environments. This is due to globalization of markets as well as acceleration of product and technology life cycles. Most importantly however is the intensification of global competition for Groupon. Most online services are easy to imitate. Therefore it has been of utmost importance that Groupon's managers take the right actions and develop appropriate strategies. Groupon has access to highly educated international managers that sense and interpret complex and dynamic environmental changes. These managers have developed and integrated multiple strategic capabilities in order to cope with today's business world. As it was very hard for Groupon to enter foreign markets, Groupon identified several companies that were interested in forming joint ventures. • 6. Gamers And Their Opinions Matter Gamers like to believe that their opinions matter. Whether it's ignorance, or simply blind sense of entitlement, they all like to think that their collective voice means something, that their opinions alone, will transform the landscape of interactive entertainment. Over the past decade any person with access to the internet could experience first–hand, numerous ''uprisings'' within the confines of countless video–game related discussion boards, YouTube, and plethora of social networks. Whether the vocal minority was rebelling against an alteration made by a developer within a game, or even the game itself, they've more often than not, failed to achieve their ''goal''. And their failure doesn't usually stem from the fact that in majority their arguments are irrational, flawed to the core, and simply absurd, but from the fact that a message on the internet, no matter how strong, will not result in any desirable outcome. An essay on Reddit, whether supported by a handful of people or an entire army of internet warriors, will never persuade a developer to divert its course and please the ''fans'' with the changes they desire. And this is because developers, even the ones who put the fans leagues above their personal wellbeing, have no final say in what makes the final cut. In fact, some developers are even unable to choose which title they want to create, as they are just one step above the average consumer on the ladder of the interactive entertainment hierarchy. The Causes Of Tencent Games Behind the causes: a big market share In previous sections, it has been discussed that Tencent Games has a bad reputation because they lost sight of customers' importance and many competitors came after them. However, there is a bigger reason behind these facts which caused all afterwards problems–Tencent Games' big market share. According to research data, since 2009, Tencent Games became as the company who controls the largest market share in Chinese gaming industry. As of 2015, Tencent Games has managed more than half of the overall Chinese gaming market share (See Table 2 and Appendix C). To increase its sources of revenues, the main way of Tencent Games to reach this position is by focusing on many different types of games with different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Firstly, the degree of customers' satisfaction will be influenced negatively when people realize the company, whose services are used by them, is considered a company with a bad reputation. In May 2007, Tencent Games announced its first self–developed Kart Rider game "QQ Speed." The game went viral quickly since the day of the announcement. After one year of operation, QQ Speed attracted nearly one million users who were playing the game at the same time. In August 2009, however, Tencent Games received a subpoena from NEXON (a Korean game company who developed a similar Kart Rider game before Tencent) which declared that QQ speed's physical engine (an engine for game designing) was more than 80% similar to NEXON's game. In other words, they claimed that Tencent Games was copying NEXON. It was not true, however. Tencent presented enough evidence to show that they were innocent, and they did win the lawsuit. What they did not realize was the fact that news about the trial spread faster than the company could imagine, and since Tencent Games has experienced similar cases before, the public doubted Tencent Games' reputation right after the news came out. Three months later, Tencent conducted customer research internally (not through the public but through their internal database). Through Tencent's bulletin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LA–based studio STX Entertainment announced this week it has received investments from two Chinese companies: internet giant Tencent and Hong Kong–based telecommunications company PCCW. STX, which produced the summer comedy "Bad Moms", expects to use the capital to create more content and distribute it globally, particularly in Asia. In return, audiences in Hong Kong and China with an appetite for Western–produced films will also have more access to the Hollywood studio's entertainment. "The new alliance represents an important milestone in expanding PCCW's strategic investments into compelling content creation, not simply for audiences in Hong Kong but also for international audiences," said PCCW Managing Director Janice Lee in a news release. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just 36 foreign films are allowed in the country each year and the summer months are typically a blackout period to give a boost to domestically–produced films, though that rule has eased this year. Part of the strategy to be let in includes getting investments from Chinese firms. Cinema operator Dalian Wanda Group made headlines in February when it announced it is in talks to get a 49 percent stake in Paramount Pictures. The conglomerate bought AMC Entertainment Holdings in 2012 for $2.6 billion and earlier this year bought Legendary Entertainment – the company that produced "The Dark Knight" – for about $3.5 billion. This also isn't the first Chinese investment STX has garnered. The studio launched two years ago with capital from Chinese private equity firm Hony Capital, which also provided additional funding in conjunction with Tencent and PCCW. STX focuses on mid–range films ($20 to $60 billion) and inked a three–year deal last year with Chinese firm Huayi Brothers to produce 12 to 15 movies each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"How can I build a company in China that can last over 100 years?" Lei Jun, a back then 40–year–old investor and serial entrepreneur, always asked himself when he was thinking about founding a company to prove that high–end hardware can be made in China, despite the country's reputation for manufacturing low–cost, low–quality goods. At that time, two very well– known and successful Chinese companies inspired him. One of them is Tong Ren Tang, a 340–year– old traditional Chinese medicine company. It taught Lei that a company should never produce lower–quality products for the sake of cost. The other company is Hai Di Lao, a hot pot chain, which demonstrates how successful a restaurant can be by putting extremely strict emphasis on the superior customer service for over ten years. Nevertheless, following the advent of the internet, rampant piracy and lack of copyright protection led the Chinese music industry into the darkest period it has ever seen. China both as a cultural empire and as a transitioning economy need its music industry to prosper and the demand for plausible solutions is urgent. An important concept to note is that having music does not equal to having a music industry. Chinese music has existed for thousands of years and represents a distinctive genre in world music today. However, for the "music industry" to form, there must be a clear and sizable economic chain that links producers of music products to consumers. Additionally, the existence of pop music is a prerequisite for the music industry to exist. Again, to clarify, pop music here does not refer to a specific style of music but rather music that is popular or widely consumed by a significant portion of the population. Another thing to note is, for the purpose of this essay, "Chinese music" shall not include those by Taiwanese or Hong Kong companies since they do not contribute to the Chinese national GDP. "Big Data" startup entrepreneur Ailuo Wang said during an interview, "With no money, there is no industry" (Song). Creative industries such as film and music must find routes to sustainable profit before they can begin expanding on their creative fronts. Over the past decades China witnessed enviable Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth year over year, taking into account the economic collapse of 2008. • 65. Strategic Management Accounting : The Beginning Essay Executive Summary Introduction Discussion 1. Strategic Management Accounting: The Beginning To survive and succeed in the ever–evolving global business climate requires an understanding on how to formulate business strategies that are future proof (Daud, 2012). In reaction to this growing pressure firms are looking for innovative ways to remain competitive and apply a strategic perspective in every aspect of their business. This led to a close up on conventional management and cost accounting practices and sparked criticism for its lack of a strategic focus. It was argued that traditional methods fail to provide relevant information for strategizing due to time delay, bias towards financial reporting requirements and its short term perspective (Johnson and Kaplan, 1987). This saw the emergence of Strategic Management Accounting (SMA). Despite growing interest globally, there is still no definitive consensus about what SMA actually is, what it involves and how it is distinguished from management accounting (Agasisti et al, 2008). 1.1 What is it Essentially SMA falls within the management accounting umbrella. It is management accounting practices becoming strategic through its use within business activities through which strategy is enacted (Cuganesan et al, 2012). The term was coined originally by Simmonds who described it as a collection of management accounting information about the business and its competitors, which are then used in the development and maintenance of the ...
