Production Process of a Print Advertisement
1. Here is the start of our print advert.
It is going to be the background
image that will be imported and
cut/cropped first to see further
what looks good when furthering
our print advert but also seeing if
there’s anything we either don’t like
or could improve.
To cut and crop we
used a series of tools
throughout, but for the
first image to cut/crop
we used the Polygonal
Lasso Tool to cut/crop it
to the way we want it
and also at our
standard.
After cutting/cropping our first image
for the background we then sized and
placed it in position where we were
most pleased. For this we used Ctrl T
to highlight the images, then we used
the mouse to drag each corner into
the right position and then worked on
sizing the rest of the image.
We startedto addtextto our printadvertto show the time,date,
and channel itwill be airedon.Thisbreaksupthe whole imagesfrom
the mainimage and all the sub images(Fruitandjunkfood) aroundit
while presentingtextaswell.Todothiswe used the Horizontal Type
Tool.Thisallowedustoinputtextwhereverwe clickedonthe
screen.Itprovedveryuseful tous.
In these twoscreenshotsyoucansee we have addedourtitle “The Truth
AboutFood”and alsoour mainimage.For the title we usedthe same tool
(Horizontal Type Tool) andtypedoutor title,shortlyafterwe thenmessed
aroundwiththe size and the colouralsothe font.The fontsize was‘230pt’
and we changedthe fontagain to‘BOLD’ and the style wasthe same as the
textforthe presentationof the documentary,thiswas‘MyriadPro’.We also
changedthe colourfrom blackto white apartfrom 1 word involvingthe use
of the colourred.
2. This is what we changed the colour
using.Afterchoosingwhite we then
highlighted the word we wanted to
change the colour of and clickedthe
colouricon locatedat the top of the
page and then chose the shade of
redwe likedandclicked‘OK’ it then
automatically changed it to the
colour we have chosen.
Here was started to then add our
graphic features to the print advert
by choosing the graphic feature
(shape) that we wanted and
changed the colour of it then
rotated it.
Like we didwiththe mainimage we usedthe ‘Magic wand
tool’to cut a precise seriesof edgesoutof the original
image we took.Thismade the print advertprocessa lot
easierandquickerinsteadof usingthe ‘Polygonal Lasso
tool’onlywiththiswe diditon a differentimage and
carriedthisprocesson throughoutthe makingof our print
advertwheneditingthe imagestakenforthe printadvert.
As youcan see here washave addeda lot more graphic
featuresandimagessurroundingthe mainimage that
usedthe repeatedprocessof the ‘Magicwand Tool’and
changingthe size andcolour of the graphic featuresand
the images.
3. Since thisPrintAdvertisementwe have editedthe PrintAdvertfurthertherefore someof the
featuresonthe Printabove have beenmoved,enlargerandthingsaddedto.

Here we usedthe latestChannel 4 logoon
our printadvertto linkthe ad to the channel
as to what channel ourdocumentarywas
goingto feature on.Thiswasusedwiththe
Polygonal lassoTool because itrequireda
more hand to handtouch insteadof an
automaticedge cuttingtool like the ‘Magic
wandtool’.Thisenabledustocut whichlines
we wantedto inorderto get the exactlogo
usedbychannel 4; this wasbecause the
white linesblendedinwiththe original
backgroundof thislogo.
The final touchto our printadvertwas the
sloganinwhichwe came upwithfrom
certainphraseswe have heardbefore and
thenjustput themall togethertoarrive
withthisslogan.Itis a directaddressslogan
as it speakstothe audience butalsoasksa
rhetorical questiontogetthe audience
thinking“Well howdoesit?”thiswasdone
withthe same processas the othertext
sequences.The onlythingdifferentisthe
size inwhichwe changedita couple of
“pt’s” down.
