I coloured in the photos used for my
magazine. This technique was hard
to understand at first but shortly
after some practice, I was able to do
this easily and for it to look very
effective.
To do this you select an area using
the quick selection tool, you then
click ‘select and mask’. After
tweaking the selection you click
done. Solid colour, then pick you
colour and then change the colour
effect to colour or overlay. You can
now play around with the opacity
level.
3. Process
Adding text is very simple, you click the text
tool which is usually on the left hand-side of
the software. Then you click where you
would like the text to be and type. At the top
of the screen you can change things such as
the font, text size, text colour and much
more. I found this the easiest tool to use as it
very generic and I found that many other
software’s also have the same technique to
add text.
4. Process
To add shapes and to colour them on
photoshop you click the shape tool and
draw your shape. When the shape is
selected you simply click the paint
bucket tool, pick your colour then fill
the circle in. You can change the
opacity of the colour, like I have done
on the middle circle. You can also make
the circle appear behind a certain
image by dragging the layer below the
image layer.

To fill in any blemishes or marks on a
photo, you click on the lasso tool, then
draw a circle around the mark or blemish.
Right click, then press fill. When the
window pops up click Content-Aware and
click with ok. The software will figure out
what it needs to be filled in by. In the
finished picture the mark has been
removed.
6. Process
The eraser tool is one of the simplest
tools on photoshop, but it is very useful.
The eraser tool can delete things on
specific layers, so like I have done, I’ve
removed parts of the image to give the
effect that it is within the circle. This is
an aesthetic choice, and I would usually
do something like this when I have
finished.
