This document provides instructions on how to create different types of tweens in Flash animation, including motion tweens and shape tweens. It explains that tweens are used to create movement or changing shapes between key frames. It then walks through the steps to create a basic motion tween of moving an object from point A to point B, and how to adjust the speed and easing. Shape tweens are described as transforming one object into another object. The document provides tasks for students to create animations using these tween techniques, including a bouncing ball and shape transformation animations. It also covers adding a background layer.
Lesson objectives:
To know what is motion tween.
To create motion tween.
To know motion presets.
To know how to use motion editor.
How to create a simple slideshow using motion tween.
I used this with a 2nd year class, they were making the MugTree in Craft&Design. The powerpoint was actually printed out for them to use in Booklet form
This was also printed out for pupils to use, (many felt it too tricky to switch between powerpoint and Inventor). Slide six asks them to import two files that I had made and placed in a 'Shared Area' for the whole class to access - this of course would need to be set up for pupils to do!
This slideshow was a continuation of 'Intro to Inventor using MugTree example', it is accepted that the pupils have already made the 'base cross halving' section...

Using AutoDesk Inventor to assemble a Trinket boxkrysia
Β
This slide show is based on the premise that pupils have already created the parts for their trinket box (sides, base and lid). It goes through the steps to fully constrain it all together.
The exercise allowed pupils to easily see what they were about to make in 'Craft and Design' (E.g. the types of joint and how it fitted together.
All the exercises in this series were aimed 2nd yr (13/14year olds).

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Β
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as βpredictable inferenceβ.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
Β
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

2. What is a Tween?
ο§ Tweening is the process of creating βin-
betweenβ frames in an animation.
ο§ It is used to create the animation effect of
movement, or changing shape.
ο§ There are 2 types of tween we will learn today:
οΊ MotionTween
οΊ ShapeTween
3. Creating a Motion Tween
ο§ Create a new Flash Animation.
ο§ In Frame 1, draw a small shape on the
background, this is the shape we will move.
ο§ Insert a Key Frame at Frame 30.
ο§ Right Click between Frame 1 and Frame 30.
ο§ Click β Create MotionTween.
ο§ Thatβs it. Now preview your movie.
4. Creating a Motion Tween
ο§ You can also speed up and slow down the speed
of your MotionTween.
ο§ To speed up, remove frames, to slow down, add
more frames.
ο§ You can also make the shape accelerate or
decelerate.
ο§ Make sure you have selected your Motion
Tween, then change the Ease, located in the
Property Bar at the bottom of the screen. Set it
at -100.Your shape now starts slowly and speeds
up.Try it at 100.What happens?
5. Edit the Ease of your Motion Tween here.
Canβt see it? Click the Small arrow shown in the box below to display
your Property Bar.
6. Creating a Motion Tween
ο½ After creating your MotionTween select the Final
Frame, click the FreeTransformTool and change
your shape.
ο½ We can use this to make objects look like they are
coming from a distance.
ο½ Try it!
ο½ You can rotate, flip and edit your shape to create
some interesting looking animations.
7. Task 1
ο§ Create an animation of a bouncing ball.
ο§ Use motion tweens and ease to try and get
the speed and movement realistic.
8. Creating a Shape Tween
ο½ A ShapeTween is when one object transforms into
a different object.
ο½ Create a new Flash Movie.
ο½ Insert a shape or draw a simple picture.
ο½ Then, at Frame 30, insert a Blank Key Frame.
ο½ Select a Frame in the middle, and at the bottom of
your screen, click Tween, and select Shape.
ο½ You have created a ShapeTween. Preview it to
view your animation.
ο½ We can use Ease in the same way as before.Try it.
9. Creating a Shape Tween
ο½ This does not always create a clear animation.
ο½ Use of colours, more than one shape and text can
create strange looking animations, have a play and try
to create some smooth ShapeTweens.
ο½ If you want to use ShapeTween onText or an Imported
Image, you must select the text/image and Select
Modify β Break Apart TWICE before you create your
ShapeTween.
ο½ Hint: Use ShapeTween with similar Shapes at different
parts of the screen to create effects such as shapes
coming from a distance.
10. Task 2
ο§ Create an animation using a shape tween.
ο§ Change the colours and shapes of your
object, then change it back to your original
object.
ο§ You can cut βnβ paste the frames to create this
movement.
11. Inserting a Background
ο§ First, create a new Layer, by clicking the icon
shown below.
ο§ Double click on Layer 1 to change the name
to Background.
12. Inserting a Background
ο½ Make sure you are on your background layer.
ο½ Now find your background, save it and use File
Import β Import to Stage, or just Cut and Paste your
Image into the Movie.
ο½ Always keep different parts of your animation on
separate Layers, it makes editing simpler and
tidier.
ο½ Make sure you Insert Frame at the end of the
animation on every layer to make sure the
background does not disappear half way through
your movie!
13. Task 3
ο§ Create a Flash Movie, that contains a nice
photographic background, a MotionTween and a
ShapeTween.
ο§ Use a different layer for each part of the animation.
ο§ I want the animation to be realistic.
ο§ Try one of these:
οΊ A car driving along the road
οΊ A plane taking off
οΊ A train passing by a city
οΊ A sunrise
14. Task 3
ο§ Please save your animation every few minutes.
ο§ You must Save and Store your Animation today.
ο§ When your animation is complete:
οΊ File β Export β Export Movie to save your
COMPLETED Image.
οΊ File β Save As to save your Image that you have NOT
FINISHED.
ο§ Next lesson we will be uploading your finished
Animation to a simple website.
15. Task 3
ο§ I want you to upload this final movie to the
Internet.
ο§ Use www.webs.com to display your file.
ο§ Make sure you upload the *******.swf file.
ο§ Sign up for an account and see if you can upload
your file...
ο§ Email me your web page URL when you are
done!
