3. Graphic Design Production
• Advantages of working in this medium-You have
more tools to use to make your work more detailed and make it more
appealing to your target audience. Another advantage of using graphic
design is that if you are not that skilled in making hand held designs you
can use graphic design instead which might be a lot easier to learn.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium-For
some people working in this medium it can be complicated and hard to
understand and they might be more effective at making hand held design
or work instead of using graphic design.

Background photos
To make these photos look like this I
put the on the layer below the
background that I made using the
rectangle tool. and changed the
backgrounds opacity to 75% so that
you are able to see the pictures
through the background.
I also added a photo in the
background of the events that coca
cola will be at. This gives my poster
more detail and allows people who
read it to have more information
about coca cola.
I also added a gradient onto my
background to add both red and
white onto the poster and so it had
more of a verity of colours.
Colour
I used the colour red on my
poster because red is the main
colour that coca cola have used
since the start when they made
the product. However I think I
should have used a range of
different colours instead of just
red because it make the poster
quite bland and less eye catching.
I have also put a picture in the
centre of the poster with all four
of coca colas main colours Red,
black, green and grey.
Font
I have used a similar font to
the classic one that the coca
cola brand have used so that
the audience knows it’s
reliable information.
Info
I have added a photo in the
background of a chance to
win a holiday with coca cola.
This will peak the interest of
whoever reads this poster
and will make them more
likely to spread whatever
news the poster is trying to
get across to the audience. I
have also added a picture
that has the date of how long
coca cola has been running
because then the audience
know it’s a well run business.
5. Graphic Design Production
Background
I added a gradient onto my
background to make the
design less bland and more
interesting/different.
Colour
I have used the colours blue
and white to help catch the
audiences attention and so
that this poster stands out
from others.
Font
I have used these fonts to
make the title stand out and
to make the poster look more
formal.
Picture
The reason why I have put
these pictures on my poster
is so that the audience can
get an idea of what the
product looks like and so that
they don’t have to take in all
the information in from
reading they can also gain
information visibly as well.
Tools
I used Photoshop and
information from the York
college website to create this
poster.
Strengths and
weaknesses
The strengths of this poster is
that it is eye catching and has
a lot of information on it if
the audience needs to know
anything. I would say a
weakness of this poster is
that it is too formal. By this I
mean that it wont attract the
young audience that we want
to see the poster the most.
However it is good that the
poster looks formal because
then people find it more
believable.
6. Radio Production
• Advantages of working in this medium-An advantage of working
with radio is that you are able to go straight to the point and make it clear what your
product is and what it does. Another advantage is that the audience who are listening
to the radio don’t have to use their full attention they automatically take in information
from the advertisement without even meaning to or trying to. Another advantage of
using radio to promote your product is that it is used all most every day. For example
people are only going to see an ad on the TV if they sit down and watch it however
whenever people drive there car to work, college, etc. they often put the radio on and
sometimes the radio even turns on by itself. This means that there is a bigger chance
people might accidently hear your advert on the radio rather then on the TV or running
across a poster that you made.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium-you could miss
important information because unlike advertisements on TV for example you cant
rewind the advert or pause it. Once you miss it its gone and you have to wait till the
advert comes back. This could result in you not getting all the information you want
from the ad or even the business who's product the ad is for losing a customer because
they didn’t hear everything they needed. Another disadvantage could be that there
isn’t a big enough time on the advert to promote there product efficiently and
successfully.
7. Radio Production
I think that the final production is very similar to how we first planned/designed it but has
some minor changes. For example I first design was to do a short but interesting script with 2
to 3 sound effects but in the final production we not only added sound effects but we added
some background music to make it more interesting to our target audience. But overall I think
the final production was nearly identical to the initial design because we kept it quick but
interesting, added all the necessary sound effects, added music to make it more interesting
and haven’t changed any words in the script from when we first designed it. However when
we were actually making the production we had to use a range of websites and sound effects
before we found the right ones. We used sound effects from YouTube, bens music and free
sound. Also before actually making our production we created 3 different scripts that were
all different to each other to see which one was the best and to test a range of different ideas
so that we could make a script that best suited our target audience (see below and above).
8. Radio ProductionI think the strengths of our radio production is that it is different to a lot of other. This means that the target
audience is more likely o remember the advert and spread round information about the product (coca cola) to
people who might not have seen the advert. I would say another strength about this production is that it isn’t long
and doesn’t have to much information. This is good because then people are more likely to remember what the
advert says and are less likely to get bored because it doesn’t have too much information and because of this it
allows it to be catchy.
The weaknesses of this radio production is that because there isn’t that much information some people might not
get all the information they wanted/needed for example ingredients. Another disadvantage of this production is
because its so short people might miss parts of it then get confused and just not listen.
The tools that I will be using are word document to write my actual script and plan it. YouTube to listen to radio
productions that have already been made so that I can improve my ideas and get new ones. Freesound is where we
got all the sound effects for the actual advert such as the opening of the coca cola bottle noise etc. We also used
hardware such as primer pro to overlap the music, sound effects and the recording if or voice of the script. This was
basically our final step to make the production.
9. Video Game Production
• Advantages of working in this medium- I think the
advantages of working with this medium are that because it’s a game it is more likely to grab
the audiences attention because they have more interaction. For example if it was just
information on a poster they would earthier ignore it or simply find it boring because they
have to use their full attention to take in the information but with a game they are taking
information in without even trying and are having fun while doing so because they are able
to interact with the advertisement.
• Disadvantages of working in this medium- I would
say a disadvantage of working in this medium is that you might not be able to give the
audience enough information. Such as in my production. In my production it makes it clear its
to do with coca cola but it doesn’t tell you anything about the actual drink/brand. So yes the
audience is having fun and they are taking in information but it may not be the information
we want them to be taking in.
10. Video Game
Experiments
Based my design off this
character on the right
but I added my own
theme and changed the
shape and features of
some parts such as
clothing and getting
other angles of the
character that I drew
myself. I have also took
into consideration what
my characters
movements will look like
in the game for example
the five models below.
I have added “c c” on the back of
my character to represent the
theme of coca cola. The letters
will also flash red at the end of
each level to show the player that
he has completed it.
The character on the left has a bottle
of coca cola that he uses as a power
up in the game so I have added that
onto the sketch however with the
character on the right I have made
him a literal can of coca cola so that
there is a clear theme and a more
cartoony vibe to the game.
This character design is interesting and different but is quite boring/bland where as the other one
has more details and features. But I think this design is good because it makes it completely obvious
what theme the game is. Where as with the other character its hard to tell because the coca cola is
very small and people might not know what it is unless we give the game a really clear title.
When creating the landscape in my game I decided to add an
underground bit where the character would have to go but because it
was 2D I would have to think of a way to do that without making it look
3D so I tested a range of colours until it looked like there was a hole that
went into the ground. You can see the final result in the picture above.
11. Video Game Production
This was a game supposable created by coca cola
itself. It was a copy of space invaders but except
from two changes. Instead of shooting aliens you
were tasked to shoot the letters that spelled out
“PEPSI” and instead of having the word “score”
which was obviously to keep track of your score.
Coca cola changed it to “COKE”. Players thought
that this perhaps referenced coke defending there
profits from the popular brand known as Pepsi. This
could be true because of the fact that this game
was made around the time of 1980 this was after
82 years of the brand Pepsi being released.
1.These two productions have
a similar art style. This can be
clearly seen from when you
look at both scoring systems
1.
2.However each production might have a similar art style but my
production has a lot more colour and detail in it compared to the
one made in 1980. this can be clearly seen from the fact that the
one in 1980 only has three different colours but mine has multiple.
3.Both games
have a coca cola
theme and
represent it.
3.2.
2.
This game was created by a single student as part
of his college work and had limited access to tools
where as the coca cola business had unlimited
access to everything they needed to make their
game where as I only had Photoshop and a few
other programs.
12. Video Game Production
I think one of the strengths of my production is that I've made it clear its got a coca cola theme
because of the cola bottles, the boss who is a coca cola can and in the bottom left it tells you
how much cola you actually have. I think another one of the strengths of my production is that
it is family friendly and the story/game itself are really simple. This means that all ages can play
it which allows me to have a bigger target audience to sell this product too. Another strength of
my advertisement is that it has a lot of detail in It. This means that the audience are more likely
to find it interesting.
The tools that I used to make this production where
the pencil tool, timeline and this section on the right
that allows you to adjust the items on your
production. Overall I used Photoshop to create this
production along with a few tools to make the
features and to organise them.
I would say a weakness of my production is that
some of the animations for the actions my character
does look out of place. For example on the 11th slide
when my character is going down the ladder it
doesn’t look like he’s holding on to it.
If I could make any changes to my production I
would make it more detailed and have more things
going on in it so that it is more interesting and
active.
I would say
another weakness
of my production is
that it is based for
a much younger
audience. This
means not as
many people will
play this game
because of the fact
its meant for a
younger audience
13. Comparison
• Which product do you believe advertises the
product the best? Why?-I think that each way of advertisements have
their different advantages and disadvantages but overall I think that the radio advertisement is
better because you are able to put a larger amount of information about your product into it while
also reaching a larger audience at the same time. Where as the video game production has a much
smaller target audience and you cant have that much information about your product on it. Also a
game requires the audience to put there time and effort into playing it where as with a radio
advertisement people might accidentally hear the ad and take in information without even
meaning to. I think this gives a larger advantage to radio advertisements rather then video game
advertisements.
• Which of your products is the most professional?
Why?-I think that the radio production is more professional because in video games things
tend to not be realistic or formal where as a radio ad is more likely to have facts instead of fiction
and will be trusted more then what a video game says. Also video games are mostly played by the
young generation but the radio is listened to by a range of different generations. This allows for a
larger target audience to hear about your product and possibly buy It.
