1) The document reflects on media products created over the year, including a short film, website, and postcard. Conventions of genres and media were researched and followed.
2) Elements like colors and fonts were used consistently across products to create a unified "brand". The products engage audiences through their adherence to conventions and ability to grab attention.
3) Various software, hardware, and online tools were integrated to complete the projects, including Photoshop, WIX, YouTube, and more. Without combining technologies, the assignments could not have been finished.

Reflection
2. Introduction
In this powerpoint presentation I will be reflecting on my completed work through this year.
Postcards, websites and films are all media products that follow guidelines and conventions. In order to create
my 3 products, i have done sufficient research into existing work, genre conventions and audience preferences.
My products reflect incorporate elements that are unique in a way to the film. I have adapted mz colour
schemes both to the website and postcard so that it will be preferred to the majority of my audiences. Through
creating my own roduction company i have realiyed the subject m atters sich as the different typefaces, images
and colours.
In order to engage more with mz audiences I have made sure to make my film as appealing as possible through
the use of camera angles, emotions and genre. My website is easy to navigate while mz postcard uses bright
colours to engage wiuth the preffered audiences.
In the end, through varites of techniques, both hardware and software, i have combined these to create mz
website, postcard and short film. I was able to do this based on skill online from the internet ands use of
different programs.. I have struggled a lot with creating mz website on WIX as it was mz first time to create
such a website, but i believe i have tackled this problem with ease nevertheless.
3. Question 1
How do your products use or challenge
conventions and how do they represent
social groups or issues?
4. Film Conventions
Genre Conventions: As my film is a sport drama, I have complied
with the codes and conventions of both genres. To fulfilll drama
conventions, I have applied an emotional / dramatic storyline as
well as climaxes and anti- climaxes.
Production Conventions: The pre-production stage is conventionally a time of planning and drafting, this is why I
have developed my idea through convetnioanl methods of creating scripts and storyboards as well as exhibiting
my work in oder to gain feedback. When it came to filming, I have shot the scenes out of sequence due to
location problems, this is both a convetnioanl and practical method of filming. In the post production I have
edited my film again out of sequence but have managed to do it.
5. Post Card Conventions
Designing: I have first done research on existing work
to understand the codes and conventions used in a
successful postcard. At first i had bno idea what im
going to use as the cover for the postcard , however
with time i had better ideas and achived the final
outcome. To comply with the convetnions the
awards, credits all had to be lower case, not covering
up the main image just like the production company
logo, and certificate.
Production Conventions: I have initially done a hand
drawing sketch of how I imagined my postcard to look like,
this helped me to visaulise my ideas and record my creative
progress. After I have used adobe photoshop in order to
create my final postcard, this ofcourse is technically more
advanced and allowed me to manipulate images more
accurately, giving my final work a decent finish.
6. Website Conventions
Designing: I carried out research on existing film web pages
to understand the aspects used to create a successful
website. I wanted to make a really simple web page, which is
easy to navigate. As it was my first time creating such a
website, I couldnt do all that I have planned, however I
believe that I have tackled this part of the work decently
enough. Nevertheless as I had previous knowledge in the use
of photoshop, I had no background on this part of my final
work.
Production Conventions: Due to limited time and barely
any knowledge I couldnt create the website I wished for,
also as it was my first time creating such a web page I
found it difficult. By using wix I have successfully created a
decent web page with an attractive layout. In case of some
more time, I could have made different steps in order to
make it more appealing than it is now.
7. Question 2
How do the elements of your
production work together to create a
sense of “branding”?
8. Film, Website and Postcard
I have created a symmetry between my 3 products; Postcard, Webpage and film product through the use of
color schemes and fonts. I have come up with my production company name in the middle of shooting my film
(Pinter Productions). I have used Photoshop and publisher in order to create my final production company logo.
I have used a simple large serif font to capture the target audience through font size as it will appeal to most of
them.
9. Question 3
How do your products engage with
the audience and how would they be
disturbed as real media products?
10. Audiences
First of all, I have done extensive research on my target audience. I have used survey monkey to interview and
collect data on the preferences and opinions about 21st century short films. This has given me a clear idea of
what the audiences prefer, especially my own target audience.
My products engage with the viewers as they follow the traditional product conventions. My film engages with
the audience due to it dramatic storyline and realistic characters as well as locations. My website captures
audiences as it is easy to navigate on it and covers interesting information on my film such as images and the
synopsis. My use of images on the website is limited however, I try to deliver the necessary information to seize
the eyes and attention of my potential viewers.
My Postcard grab the attention through its use of colors and layout. The awards in a small font size and
production logo placement gives the card a unique way of delivering a message as well as the title placement
on the top of the postcard.
11. Distribution
Distribution Methods
Firstly, I could circulate
third times a charm
through a Facebook
distribution. As the vast
majority of teenagers
use this app, I could
easily get viewers to
watch my film. However
by using this site I might
not achieve the required
potential media sight let
say from parents or
schools.
Secondly, I could upload my film on YouTube, as
it is an app used worldwide by audiences.
YouTube is really good for posting short films,
therefore my 5 min long short film would be
applicable easily to distribute on YouTube and
would most likely achieve a large number of
views.
A third option could be if I burn my
film on to a dvd and start selling it.
However in todays world film are
more watched online through
streams therefore it would probably
be a waste of time.
My last option could be to submit
my film to an amateur short film
corporation. However this is
difficult and time consuming,
However I believe that this would
be a huge step for me incase Third
times a charm would reach an
award as it would be played vastly
on film festivals.
In conclusion, I believe that my best option would
be to distribute my short film on YouTube, due to
the popularity and the potential majority of
viewers. Based on this, I could even make a small
trailer to showcase the plot of my short film.
12. Question 4
How did you integrate technologies-
Software, Hardware and online- in
this project?
13. Word And PowerPoint
Through using Microsoft PowerPoint I have been able to present my work clearly in a visual and interesting
way. I have made a range of PowerPoint presentations in showcasing my film journey from pre-production to
production, Genre convention, etc. This software allows me to insert data and visually present my work.
14. Photoshop
I have used adobe Photoshop in order to create my final postcard. Firstly I have imprinted my main image, then
started detailing it with the Masthead. Later on I added the awards and my production company log in order to
make it more appealing. By using a small font size I have added caption and a decent punch line to sum up my
short film in a sentence.
As for color schemes, I have used red and green mostly as a symbol for drama and sports. However the
background is in a shady grey version which implicates the other side of drama and the storyline in this case. I
find it really attractive as a matter of fact and hope that my viewers will like it too.
As for the credits, I have inserted them on the bottom half of the page as it usually is on posters and postcards.
I have used small font size in order to make a bigger impact on the main image as it is much more significant.
15. WIX
For my website I have used the programme WIX to create my own personalized website. Using a plain
template. In order to create an easily accessible page, I have placed the navigator on the top right side corner.
Overall, my website doesn't look professional at all, in fact we can actually see that it was a bit rushed due to
time limit, therefore I am a bit disappointed, however I believe that I can do much better with time and skill. I
have benefited a lot from previous works, however as my first time using WIX I found it way to difficult to
manage on creating a website, but I know my potential and I'm sure that I can do better the next time I start
doing such a site.
16. Online
I have integrated technologies such as the internet in this project through using online sites such as Google,
You tube, slide share, survey monkey and word press.
At the start of everything, I have used Google to search for examples of others work in order to have an idea of
where exactly to start.
Secondly I used YouTube as a conversion site. My short film was uploaded through you tube to my blog as the
movie format wasn’t compatible with my blog account.
Slide share is another site that converts power points into slides so that they can be published and viewed. I
have used this site to convert my power point presentation and upload them to my blog with their link.
Survey monkey is a survey site, where I have created my questionnaires about my short film. I gathered
information on this site and used most of the preferences of my target audience.
WordPress is the blog I have used this entire year to upload my presentation and showcase my works during
the school year through videos and links. Through the use of internet I was able to source my audio for my
short film/ I have used editing software to insert my audio to my final short film after its editing.
In conclusion, without combining technologies I wouldn’t have been able to complete my assignments as well
as finishing my blog and presentations. With the use of various hardware and software I have been able to
produce a website, postcard and short film.
