1. The clothing is fairly standard when it comes to being and looking very presentable and also very
masculine., it gives off quite a trendy and classy look and overall finish due to the main colours being
âblack and whiteâ which portrays and signifies masculinity and a sense of attractiveness. The colour white
is conventional when it comes to smart suits, and also helps to give off that the character is quite a âpureâ
character, and also initiates in a look of true maturity; the character is meant to look mature, especially
for the given target audience as being adults. The colour white will also contrast from all of the other
images, which is quite ironic due to the over images also being plain, i.e., black and red. It doesnât show a
lot of character for the person wearing the costume, but it is also there to contrast the characters
personality due to him being fun and full of energy.
As standard, the inclusion of a suit stands due to the overall style and genre of the music and the music
magazine as being âBlues/Swing/Jazz/Soulâ. This means that the style is meant to look older fashioned,
especially due to the target audience and the style of clothing within the âSwinging 60âsâ. The character
will wear the suit and jacket in all of the images to be taken, and this shows a great leve l of maturity. The
colour black is standard due to the regular conventions and previous style used. It would be very
irregular and unconventional if you were to see a âGreenâ or âOrangeâ coloured suit for this type of music
magazine, even in general. It just doesnât look grown up at all! This on the other hand certainly does.
The trousers look very smart and classy, and are also black for two main reasons: number one, to fit in
and match the colour of the blazer jacket above, and two, to look very smart and attractive. Not only
does the colour black symbolise masculinity, but also a âsense of hidingâ from the world: the character is
finally being presented as a gift to the world, and he is to look very presentable. It wouldnât necessarily
suit the character if he were to wear jeans and this blazer, unless he wore dark jeans. Black trousers look
as though you are going outdoors, possibly portraying the lifestyle of the character as being out,
working, and singing on stage for all to hear. He is to look good due to the large amount of people that
will be seeing him, and admiring him greatly.
Even though this isnât part of the costume, it is to be included due to it assisting the overall âLookâ in
which is being presented with the costume used. The hair is very symbolic and iconic of the 60âs look
with waxed up and greased up hair; it was very iconic within the great era of music. My character is
trying to bring this âstyleâ and overall âlookââback to this modern age. The hair is one of the features.
Nowadays, artists have âdyedâ hair, âlongâ hair, âmessyâ hair and also âstrangeâ hair with designs and
overall colouring. This hair style is much more masculine and classy from such a great era. It will be kept
and persevered by my character, and fits in with the costume due to the smart and very attractive
âoverall lookâ and finish that the artist will bring to the audience
The âRoseâ will be part of the blazer jacket. This is very iconic when it comes to bringing out the character
and his overall personality. Like a âRoseâ, the character will âBlossomâ and show his true beauty to the world.
Apart from the look with the inclusion of a âroseâ, and shows masculinity due to their being respect shown
with the gradual inclusion of a somewhat stereotypical feminine preference of flowers. The character
respects that, and also shows appreciation. A lot of Soul Singers would wear the overall costume shown,
and also include a âroseâ within in their blazer jackets; itâs just that iconic look which truly stood out for
them. It is to be preserved by the character. Overall, the character isnât trying to look modern, but in fact he
is trying to look old fashioned. It is very classy, stylish and also attractive in any womanâs eyes. The
character admires the look, and the overall look is unique and iconic, just like the music in which he creates.
The magazine will point that out and describe the overall qualities that the character has on the inside.
The bow tie is the of the 1960âs iconic look. It brings out character, style and overall
class from the individualâs point of view. It is such great fashion from the past and even nowadays. The
character will wear this to show a link between the past and the current present. This is symbolic as it
shows similarities between this music and the music from the past. (The magazine will es tablish that
with âCover linesâ). The character wants to bring the past to the future. This look is well established and
is still used today, so it wouldnât be so unusual to look at. Examples would be Michael Bubleâ (an old
school jazz singer). Bow ties also tend to be worn for special occasions, also nowadays, including special
dinners, social events, award ceremonies and general formal events. It shows masculinity and true
maturity, which is exactly what this character intents to bring to the modern and young world!
