1. I have chosen the artists to wear a black fur jacket. This is to show that it is cold, and
she is in an outside location. This is also a very feminine thing to wear, and the
magazine highlights the females with in indie pop genre.
I think a yellow tshirt will suit the style and genre, because the whole of the outfit will
be black, or dark, and by having the one yellow, or coloured tshirt, it highlights that the
magazine is indie pop, and not rock.
I have decided to dress my model in a skirt, this could be seen as strange and people
may think that is in fact does not fit the genre. I have chosen to do this because my
magazine is targeted towards women, and my looking at the tclothes that the model is
wearing, this is clear. The model will be in a skirt because I do not want her outfit to be
copying a male artist, as she is supposed to be an indipendant woman, but to be
changing the style of black jeans into a black skirt. Although she will be wearing a skirt,
which is feminine she will also be wearing black ripped tights. (see below)
Black ripped tights are a large statement and they could either really work or look like
the model is dirty, poor and homeless. I have chosen to put my artist in tights because I
think it really highlights the indie style, and also highlights the ‘underground’ style.
The shoes link in with the black theme. I think thee shoes fit the style because they are
unusual, they do not have a brand on them, something that an indie pop artist would
not have, and they have a quite large platform, which is unlikely to see on a trainer, but
also makes them seem like they are from the 80s, linking in with the style.
The female on the cover of the magazine will wear a costume that does reflect the indie
style, but in a feminine way. The outfit will consist of mostly black, with an essence of
colour, to show that the style is indie pop rather than indie rock.
There will be some elements of colour coordination to the costume, but that will not be an
important feature to the outfit, just as it would not be an important to an indie pop artist
such as Cavan from the band Swim Deep. However, the artist will wear something that will
make the target audience, indie want to read on and be inspired. The outfit will also be
different to something that you would see on the cover of another magazine as this
magazine is supposed to be a new type of magazine. The clothes worn by the model will
also not look like new clothes as the style of indie pop artists is re-using clothes, and giving
themselves an 80s look. The outfit will highlight individuality of the model and will
encourage people that it is ok to be different!
In order to create a stylish look that will make the reader want to read on, I will make the
model have an 80s look, and for some, this could bring back memories of the 80s, and for

2. others it will make them feel like they did not miss out on this time that has been described
as the best era. The model will look cool and fun to draw people in to the magazine. The
outfit will also enhance the model’s figure as although the magazine is targeted towards
females, it is likely to also be read by a selected amount of men.
