1. Due to the fact I have
chosen a Latin American
music genre, using a
Colombian girl is
representative of their
culture and the audience
will be able to relate
with her. However I
could have challenged
this convention by using
someone of a different
ethnicity.
My model is a
teenager, 18. She is
represented in no
specific manner, the
colours used
combined with the
sweets connotes fun
and vitality.
I have used a female,
however specifically
only used her face in
this image, not her
body. This is
challenged certain
stereotypes of women
especially within the
Reggaeton genre
where most women
are exploited because
of their assets.
The facial expression
especially with the
lollipop here is
seductive which could
be taken in a negative
way. However, the
fact I have not
included body image
illustrates she is
strong and confident
and doesn't need to
use this for attention.
The cartoon effect on this image
is linked to my inspiration from
the ‘Hed Kandi’ girls and have
a flirty but sophistication vibe.
2. The body language
here is very casual
and relaxed, making
little effort which
connotes confidence
and security.
The costume used
here is slightly
revealing, but not
too much. Enough
to display
femininity but not
in a sexual way.
Breaking certain
stereotypes of
females.
This picture is
very simple.
The use of the
black and white
combined with
the sunglasses
inside create a
mysterious
edge.
The fact that my model is alone in this as a
solo artist could show security within ones
self. The Flat screen in the background falls
into the typical teenage image. The mouth is
slightly open conveying attitude and having
a strong point of view.
3. The image conveys
seriousness and
breaks certain
conventions on
beauty as only the
eyes are shown. This
could suggest that
girls and women of
today are more out
there and not as
reserved as they used
to be. It could also
suggest Women are
more confident and
willing to be wild.
The close up shot
reveals strength of
character in that she
is not afraid of
anyone getting
intimate.
The eye contact can make the audience relate
closer with this artist. The eyes are seen as the
window to the soul and the model here is not
afraid for hers to be magnified. Allowing her
character to be looked in depth and her
personality questioned.
4. The images here would
be used for the double
page spread with the
same black and white
contrast for continuity.
This edgy outfit could be related to
such outlandish music artists
today as Lady Gaga. This
generation links to females who
are not afraid to express their
individuality and break out of the
quiet female moulds.
The unique look to the image
reflects the unique edge to
Reggaeton music. Its as it is not
as well recognised as it should
be.
The fact that only half her face is shown
here could connote secrecy an attribute
most young females are seen to possess.
The facial expression reveals the typical
‘pout’.
5. The body language here is
typical of female music
artists with typical attire
as well. Her hand on her
head connotes confidence
and the coat on the couch
appears strewn across in a
careless movement. This
attitude is a stereotypical
view of young females but
also could symbolise
freedom of expression.
This image attracts
the male gaze in my
target audience but
also to the females
as they could look
to her as a role
model, fashion
influence.
The background appears sophisticated
as the red couch and velvet cushion
relates to the artists lavish lifestyle. The
costume here is an obvious choice for a
lot of Latin American females, living in
a hot country and having sexy, wild
parties. The leopard print bikini top
appears wild and fierce.
