Lone Star Conference plays starts this week with two of the three league clashes taking place at the fifth annual
Lone Star Football Festival at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Angelo State, Midwestern State and Eastern New Mexico remained undefeated with victories in non-
conference action last week.
LSC football teams are 9-4 overall this season. The squads are 9-1 combined versus the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Great Lakes Valley Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference
teams, which are also in NCAA Super Regional Four.
LONE STAR FOOTBALL FESTIVAL
The Lone Star Football Festival comes back to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the fifth straight year in
2015 with three games on Saturday, September 19.
The lineup includes two Lone Star Conference tilts and one non-conference game. Midwestern State faces
Eastern New Mexico, and Tarleton State goes against West Texas A&M in LSC action, while Angelo State plays
Bacone in a non-conference contest.
The event starts at 11:30 a.m. with MSU-ENMU, followed by WT-TSU at 3:30 p.m., and ASU-Bacone at 7:30
p.m. to conclude the football-filled day.
A single ticket will be good for admission to all three games at the festival. The best place for fans to
purchase tickets is in the athletic ticket office of each participating team. Advance purchases through the
teams will be rewarded with rates of $25 for adults and $10 for students, while sales through Ticketmaster and
game-day pricing at the AT&T Stadium ticket windows will be $30 for adults and $15 for students. Fans should
check with their respective schools for details.
The festival has attracted just over 99,000 fans for 20 games in its first four years, making it one of the best-
attended football events in all of Division II. Sixteen of those 20 games have been televised, bringing extensive
exposure to LSC member institutions and their football teams. The festival also has featured five NFL Draft
picks and eight NCAA playoff teams, including the 2012 Division II National Champion Valdosta State.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Geremy Alridge-Mitchell, West Texas A&M University, SR, RB, Dallas, Texas, North Dallas HS
Alridge-Mitchell had another outstanding game rushing for 105 yards and three touchdowns, while catching
four passes for 37 yards and one receiving touchdown in the Buffs’ thrilling 31-30 upset win over No. 2 Colorado
State-Pueblo Saturday. The 30 carries is the second-most in career history for him as he has rushed for over
100 yards in 11-consecutive games and 12 in his career. It also marked his second career game of scoring at
least one touchdown on the ground and one receiving. The 24 points scored by him in the game gives him 242
career points ranking him sixth all-time in school history. He moved into eighth all-time in school history in
career rushing yards with 2,307 in the game Saturday.
DEFENSIVE
Hunter Streuling, West Texas A&M University, SO, S, Austin, Texas, Lake Travis HS
Streuling had two huge interceptions in the Buffs’ 31-30 upset win over No. 2 and defending national champion
Colorado State-Pueblo Saturday. Streuling had six solo tackles in the game, but came up with two acrobatic
picks both coming in the first half and the second stopped a potential scoring situation as he intercepted it at
the WT three-yard line. It was his second game with two interceptions in his career (TAMUK, 2014). Streuling
is tied for the team-lead in interceptions this season with two and has five in his career. Streuling and the WT
defense held CSUP to 271 total yards and just 98 yards passing while forcing four interceptions in the game and
six total turnovers by the Thunderwolves.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Andy Alkhazshvilly, Midwestern State University, SR, K, Mansfield, Texas, Mansfield HS (Central Oklahoma)
Alkhazshvilly’s 28-yard field goal in overtime lifted Midwestern State to a 16-13 win over Colorado Mesa
Saturday night in Grand Junction. It was the first game winning field for Alkhazshvilly, who also connected
on a pair of 30-yard efforts in regulation. The senior from Mansfield, who is a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal
opportunities this season, also averaged 62.5 yards on four kickoffs.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Richard Cooper, Texas A&M University - Commerce, continues to be a stalwart in the Lions offense reeling
off back-to-back 100 yard rush games for the first two games of the season for the Lions. It’s the first time in
the Carthel era and the first time dating back through 2011 the Lions have had a runner surpass 100 yards in
consecutive games. Saturday he scampered for 135 yards and a touchdown in the Lions gut-wrenching 51-44
loss to No. 10 Delta State. His 25 attempts marked a new career-high. His long of 49 through the right that side
set the Lions up for a field goal in the first quarter was the longest run of his career. He leads the Lone Star
Conference in rushing and is 12th in the NCAA averaging 142 yards per game.
Jeremy Doucette, Eastern New Mexico University, averaged 4.6 yards on 18 carries in a 44-30 win at Adams

not relinquish on the way to the road win.
Kyle Washington, Angelo State University, threw for
the fourth most yards in a single game in ASU history
while also setting a career high with 423 passing
yards in a 48-20 win over Western State Colorado
on the road. The senior completed a career high 36
completions with three touchdowns while adding 51
yards on the ground and a career high three rushing
touchdowns. His third passing touchdown of the
game, a 13 yard pass to Talon Smith, broke the ASU
career record for passing touchdowns with his 62nd
of his career and fifth of the season. He is the fifth
quarterback in school history to surpass 400 passing
yards in a single game. The Humble native recorded
474 yards of total offense, which is also a career high
and an Angelo State school record, while leading the
Rams to 666 yards of total offense, the second most
in school history.
Le’Nard Meyers, Tarleton State University, was a
dominant receiving force for Tarleton in its season-
opener against Findlay last weekend. The senior
wide receiver hauled in seven passes for 139 yards
to lead all players. He also scored Tarleton’s first
touchdown of the season when he sprinted past the
Oiler defenders for a 50-yard score. It was his seventh
100-yard receiving game of his career.
Anthony Autry, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
became the first Javelina to record a 100-plus yard
receiving game since Nov. 16, 2013 against Valdosta
State. He totaled 125 yards on six catches and took
two of the receptions to the house. His longest
reception was for 50 yards that he received on a
bubble screen, going the rest of the way untouched.
Cody Burtscher, Tarleton State University, after
transitioning from running back to linebacker in the
spring, was dominant on the defensive side of the
football. The junior from Glen Rose led the Texans
with 14 total tackles, including three for a loss and
two sacks. His two sacks netted a loss of 14 yards
while his other stop behind the line of scrimmage
went for a loss of six. Burtscher also saved three
points by blocking Findlay’s only field goal attempt of
the night.
Charles Woods, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
continues the momentum gained in 2014 into the
2015 season with 12 tackles the Lions 51-44 loss
to No. 10 Delta State. Woods was all over the field
accounting for 10 solo tackles and an interception,
which came early in the first half on a batted ball.
Woods scampered 20 yards after the pick and set the
Lions up for an early field goal.
Fe’ao Vunipola, Eastern New Mexico University,
turned in a strong defensive performance for the
Greyhounds in Saturday’s win at Adams State.
With ENMU down by a touchdown, he forced and
recovered a fumble in Grizzlies territory, which led to
the game-tying touchdown. Vunipola also tied for the
team lead with nine tackles.
Dominique Rouse, Midwestern State University,
intercepted Colorado Mesa’s Aric Kaiser on the
first possession of the overtime period to help
Midwestern State to a 16-13 win Saturday night
in Grand Junction. Rouse’s second interception as
a Mustang allowed MSU to escape with the win to
finish off another strong defensive effort. The senior
from Apopka, Fla. recorded seven tackles, broke up
a pass and recovered a fumble to polish off a career-
best performance. The Mustangs limited CMU to 13
points and an average of four yards a play despite
being on the field for the Mavericks’ 91 offensive
plays.
Zamarcus Green, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
had a standout night against Missouri S&T. He
recorded five tackles with one being a 12-yard sack.
Green also broke up a pass as the Javelinas held the
Miners to only 267 total yards of offense.
Jonathan Shannon, Angelo State University,
recorded his second interception return for a
touchdown of his career in a 48-20 win over Western
State Colorado. The junior picked off Brett Arrivey in
the fourth quarter and returned it 40 yards for the
score. He made three total tackles and broke up two
other passes on the day.
Buck Wilson, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
set the Lions up for great field position all night
accounting for 181 yards of kickoff return yards on
five attempts for an 36.2 yards per return. He had a
long return of 50 yards on the night. Wilson is the
main reason the Lions lead the LSC in kickoff returns
and are fourth in the NCAA on the season averaging
32.42 yards per return. His 181 in Saturday’s game is
the fourth best mark in the NCAA in a single game in
2015.
Timothy Callian, Eastern New Mexico University,
had another strong game for the Greyhounds, with
four touchbacks on eight kickoffs. He added a 36-yard
field goal and a 46-yard punt in the second quarter.
Isaac Arellano, Tarleton State University, shined on
special teams for the Texans in his first game action
since 2013. After missing all of last season due to
injury, the senior returned to the gridiron and served
as the punter and kick-off specialist. He kicked off
seven times and averaged 62.7 yards per kick with
five of his seven kick-offs going into the corner of the
playing field inside the five-yard line. His one punt
went for 53 yards and was downed inside the 20-yard
line.
Joe Crowe, Texas A&M University - Kingsville,
blocked a punt early in the 4th quarter that was
recovered by a fellow teammate. The block lead to
the Javelinas final score of the game, a 19-yard field
goal.

the opposition by a 50-9 margin in the second half.
This week, Eastern will play Midwestern State as part
of the Lone Star Conference Football Festival at AT&T
Stadium.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State improved to 2-0 second straight
season and for the eighth time in the last 10 years
claiming a 16-13 overtime win at Colorado Mesa
Saturday night in Grand Junction... It was the
Mustangs’ 18th straight win over non-conference
competition during regular season play dating back
to a 30-9 loss to Sam Houston State on Sept. 6, 2003...
MSU’s lone touchdown came on junior defensive
back Tari Jones’ scoop and score for a 30-yard fumble
return on an errant punt snap with 6:58 to go in the
second quarter... It was the first time since MSU’s
claimed a 7-3 win at Northeastern State on Sept. 13,
2008 in Tahlequah, Okla. in a game played in driving
rain under the remnants of Hurricane Ike... MSU’s
lone score against Northeastern State came on a
25-yard fumble return by Darium Bortters midway
through the third quarter... MSU failed to account
for an offensive touchdown for just the fifth time in
the Bill Maskill era (since 2002) including the 2008
game against Northeastern State, in the 2006 playoffs
against Northwest Missouri and twice in the 2004
seasons (Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville)...
It’s the first time MSU failed to account for a rushing
touchdown since falling 27-24 to Tarleton State in the
2013 season opener at AT&T Stadium... Senior kicker
Alex Alkhazshvilly connected on a 28-yard field goal
for the game winner in overtime after hitting a pair
of 30-yard field goals in regulation... Alkhazshvilly is a
perfect 4-for-4 in field goal tries this season including
a long of 31... Midwestern State limited Colorado
Mesa to 362 yards of total offense on 91 plays for an
average of 4.0 yards per play after the Mavericks went
for more than 550 yards in its season opener at Dixie
State (Utah)... Senior linebacker Daniel Laudermilk
recorded a career-high 18 tackles including 2.5 for
loss... Senior cornerback Dominique Rouse notched
seven tackles, recovered a fumble and stepped in
front of a pass for a crucial interception in overtime
to give MSU a shot at the win... Senior safety Marqui
Christian finished with nine tackles, forced a fumble
and had a sack... Christian now has 220 career tackles
to move into 10th on MSU’s all-time list...
Tarleton State
In a rematch of Tarleton’s first-ever playoff game as
a four-year institution, the Texans hosted Findlay in
the 2015 season opener and fell to the Oilers 35-34.
Tarleton got a 139-yard receiving effort from Le’Nard
Meyers while running back-turned-linebacker Cody
Burtscher shined on defense with 14 tackles, two
sacks, and a blocked field goal.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions went head-to-head with No. 10 Delta State
in the best game played at Memorial Stadium in the
2000s, unfortunately coming up on the short end of a
51-44 loss to the Statesmen.
- Richard Cooper continues to dazzle after turning in
his second 100-yard rushing game of the season and
the first back-to-back 100-yard rusher in the 2000s for
the Lions. He accounted for 135 yards on 25 carriers.
His 25 attempts marked a new career-best for the
junior back.
- Buck Wilson has been the best kick return man in
the LSC for the Lions ... He accounted for 181 yards of
kick return yards for the fourth best in a single-game
in the NCAA in 2015.
- Wideout Lance Evans tallied three TDs in the loss
marking the first time in his career to find pay dirt
three times.
- The Lions are the nations 13th best passing offense
and 2nd best in the LSC averaging 338 yards per game.
They are also second best in the LSC in total offense
and 10th in the NCAA averaging 548 yards per game.
- Defensively, Dionte Taylor paced a Lions secondary
that broke up 10 passes the game against Delta State.
Taylor led all Lions with five break ups -- the first time
in the 2000s a Lions has reached that mark.
- As a unit, the Lions lead the league in rushing
defense and are 25th in the NCAA allowing just 87
yards per game. They are second in the league and
13th in the NCAA in INTs with four.
- On special teams, the Lions lead the league in
kickoff return defense and kickoff return yards. They
are second in the NCAA in return defense allowing a
measly 6.82 yards, while ranked fourth in the NCAA in
return yards averaging 32.42 yards thanks in part to
Buck Wilson 181 yards against Delta State. Wilson’s
mark is the fourth best in the NCAA in a single-game
this season.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville earned their first win of the
Daren Wilkinson era with 38-20 victory over Missouri
S&T... Shawn Vasquez opened the scoring with a
66-yard run on the first play from scrimmage for
the Javelinas... He ran for a career-high 116 yards...
Anthony Autry caught six passes for 125 yards and
two touchdowns... He is the first TAMUK player

to TAMUK’s final score, a 19-yard field goal... Max
Lehnig was 1-for-1 on field goal attempts from 19
yards out... Defense held the Miners to 267 yards of
total offense... Offense finished with 443 total yards
with 284 coming thru the air... Hosts Texas A&M-
Commerce on Saturday for each team’s LSC opener at
7 p.m. in Javelina Stadium.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M football team got its first win
of the season Saturday in thrilling fashion with a 31-
30 upset victory over defending national champion
and No. 2-ranked Colorado State-Pueblo...The win
gave WT a 28-24 record over ranked teams since
2005 and was the 162nd win at Kimbrough Memorial
Stadium...It snapped CSUP’s nation-leading 10-
game winning streak and gave WT at least one win
over a ranked team each of the past four seasons...
WT forced CSUP into four interceptions and six total
turnovers as WT turned it over just twice...The Buffs
held CSUP’s high-powered offense to just 271 yards
of total offense and just 98 yards passing...Senior

scoring at least one touchdown on the ground and
one receiving...The 24 points scored by him in the
game gives him 242 career points ranking him sixth
all-time in school history...He moved into eighth all-
time in school history in career rushing yards with
