Laban Kandie, Angelo State University, SO, Kenya
Kandie had a memorable Angelo State debut by winning the HSU Invitational on Friday in Abilene. He paced the field
with a time of 15:33.00 over the 5K distance. It is his first career win for ASU and helped lead the Rams to a second place
finish at the meet.

Nikolina Hrelec, West Texas A&M University, SO, Zagreb, Croatia, Sportska Gimnazija
The defending Lone Star Conference Champion paced the Lady Buffs this past weekend as WT claimed the Non-DI Title
at the 2017 Texas Tech Open in Lubbock. Hrelec finished fifth in the 5K event with a time of 18:37.90 as the second
Division II competitor to cross the finish line.

MALE
Justin Botello, Tarleton State University, FR, Pflugerville, Texas, Hendrickson High School
Botello made his career debut at the East Texas Shootout and took home a second-place finish. Botello ran a time of
18:21.60 in the 6,000-meter course.
FEMALE
Erman Jepleting, West Texas A&M University, FR, Eldoret, Kenya
Jepleting made an immediate impact in her first race as a Lady Buff this past weekend as the Eldoret, Kenya native
finished sixth overall with a time of 18:41.20 in the 5K event. The Lady Buffs claimed the Non-D1 Team Title with a total
of 59 points as Jepleting was the third Division II competitor to cross the finish line.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Celso Ramirez, Cameron University, was CU's top finisher at the Southwestern Oklahoma State open, as he finished
in eighth with a time of 27:19.10. His time in the 8k race was a career best as he helped pace the Aggies to a second
place finish at the open. Ramirez and Cameron finished with a total time of 2:18:41.80 and an average time of 27:44.36.
Jacob Suchors, West Texas A&M University, paced the #18 Buffs this past weekend as the junior finished 21st
overall at the Texas Tech Open with a time of 27:14.10 in the 8K event. The Justin native was the fifth Division II
competitor to finish the race and the third from the Lone Star Conference.
Omer Almog, Eastern New Mexico University, paced the men's team at Texas Tech with a seventh-place finish and a
time of 26:11.20.
Johen Deleon, Tarleton State University, opened the 2017 season with a dominating performance at the East Texas
Shootout. The sophomore from Robinson took home a first-place finish as he ran a 18:21.50 in the 6,000-meter course.
Roberto Cota, Western New Mexico, paced the Mustangs to a fourth-place finish at the 4.5-mile George Kyte Classic
race. He placed 13th with a time of 25:44.2.
Maxime Icart, Cameron University, was CU's second best finisher, posting a 27:25.20 time at the Southwestern
Oklahoma State Open. The freshman from France placed ninth in the 8k race just seconds behind teammate Celso
Ramirez. Icart helped the Aggies to a second place finish at the SWOSU Open with a total time of 2:18:41.80 for the
event.
Trenton Vanhuss, West Texas A&M University, was the top freshman finisher for the #18 Buffs this past weekend at
the Texas Tech Open at Chaparral Ridge Golf Course in Lubbock. The Randall product finished 43rd with a time of
28:36.20.
Toby Kirk, Eastern New Mexico University, registered a 58th-place finish at Texas Tech with a time of 29:34.60.
Emily Ayers, Tarleton State University, had the top finish for the TexAnns in the 4,000-meter course, as she finished
with a time of 15:34.40. Ayers finished in third-place at the East Texas Shootout, which is a career best finish for the
sophomore from Denton. "
Kelsey Warren, Angelo State University, had a strong start to the season finishing in second place at the HSU Invite.
The senior ran 19:22.51 to finish in second place and helped the Rambelles to a second place finish as a team.
Coley Norcross, Eastern New Mexico University, posted a time of 19:48.80 to earn a 26th place finish at Texas Tech.
Brenda Hernandez, Western New Mexico, led the Lady Mustangs to a fourth-place finish at the 2.6-mile George
Kyte Classic race. She placed 18th with a time of 18:35.2.
Gwyneth Garcia, Tarleton State University, competed at the East Texas Shootout hosted by A&M-Commerce. Garcia
took home a fourth-place finish with a time of 15:38.80 in her first-ever collegiate meet.
Cynthia Tovar, Eastern New Mexico University, was Eastern's second finisher at Texas Tech. In her first collegiate
race, she finished 46th with a time of 20:46.60.

The Aggie men finished second at the Southwestern Oklahoma State Open last weekend with a total time of 2:18:41.80
and an average time of 27:44.36. They were paced by Celso Ramirez and Maxime Icart, who both placed in the top-10
with times under 27:26. Marvin Dierker and Eduardo Gutierrez both placed in the top-15, while Felix Nadeborn, Steffen
Reistenpatt, and Deandre Fontenot each finished in the top-25. Cameron will continue their fall slate this Saturday at the
Ken Garland Invitational hosted by North Texas.
Eastern New Mexico
Omer Almog and Coley Norcross paced the Eastern New Mexico cross country teams to sixth-place finishes at the Texas
Tech Open. Almog paced the men's team with a seventh-place finish and a time of 26:11.20. He crossed the finish line
more than three seconds ahead of eighth-place finisher Ebenether Wondaferew. The Hounds 137 points earned sixth
place in the men's standings, eight points ahead of seventh-place Western Texas College. Norcross' time of 19:48.80
earned a 26th place finish. She finished four seconds ahead of 27th-place performer Jackline Kwambai from Western
Texas College. With 157 points, the women's team also placed sixth overall, just three points ahead of Lubbock Christian.
ENMU will return to action on Saturday, September 23, at the New Mexico Highlands Cross Country Jam.

West Texas A&M started off the 2017 season on a high-note this past weekend at the Texas Tech Open at Chaparral
Ridge Golf Course in Lubbock. The Lady Buffs claimed the Non-D1 Team Title with 59 total points including a pair of Top-
10 finishes while the #18 Buffs rested their top-six time trials but still finished fifth in the event with a total of 116 points.
WT returns to action this weekend as they head to Joplin, Missouri to take park in the Southern Stampede hosted by
Missouri Southern at the Tom Rutledge XC Course.
