LSC WOMEN’S SOCCER
Angelo State tops the Lone Star Conference standings with 19 points followed by Midwestern State (16) and West Texas
A&M (15).
LSC action continues with one game Wednesday, and three on Friday and Sunday.
The women’s teams are 41-37-17 overall this season. The squads are currently 7-4-4 combined versus Rocky
Mountain Athletic Conference teams, and 4-3-2 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other conferences in
the NCAA South Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Kelly Cannistra, Midwestern State University, FR, Midfielder, Gilbert, Ariz., Perry HS
Cannistra led Midwestern State to an undefeated weekend with a team-best five points including a game winner and
four-point performance in a come-from-behind win over Texas Woman's Sunday. The Gilbert, Ariz., native began the
week assisting on Raven Powell's game-winning goal in the 14th minute of a 1-0 result over Texas A&M-Commerce to
help MSU sweep the season series with the Lions for the first time since 2013. Cannistra followed up Sunday with a
season-high four points, playing a part in all three scores while netting her first career game winner in the 58th minute
for a 3-2 comeback win over TWU. Cannistra placed both of her shots on goal for the week while reaching 10 points on
the season.
DEFENSIVE
Sammy Cude, Angelo State University, SO, Goalkeeper, Rancho San Margarita, California, Tesoro
Cude recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time all season, allowing zero goals against Eastern New Mexico and
West Texas A&M over the weekend. Cude made seven saves in the pair of wins, bringing her season total to 66, which
already surpasses her 2016 total. The Belles have not allowed a goal in 212 minutes dating back to the game against
Texas Woman's on Oct. 8.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Lauren Burk, West Texas A&M University, scored her first career goal and game winner in a 1-0 win over UT Permian
Basin Friday evening. She had three shots with all three on goal for the week in two starts. Burk had an assist earlier in
the year, but the goal against UTPB was her first collegiate score.
Mackenzie Broderick, Angelo State University, had just one shot on the weekend, but she made it count, scoring the
Belles' game-winner in the 88th minute against West Texas A&M. It was her first game-winner at ASU and led the Belles
to their second straight shutout win.
Mirka Zamarripa, Eastern New Mexico University, tallied the game-winning goal for ENMU in their its final home
match of the season. The overtime goal lifted the Greyhounds to a Lone Star Conference win over visiting UT Permian
Basin.
Courtney Dippel, West Texas A&M University, continued a strong season with two more starts as the Lady Buffs went
1-1 as she posted a shutout and a 0.5 GAA with six saves (.857) on 15 shots faced. It was her fifth shutout of the season
and she dropped her GAA to under 1.0 at 0.98 with 55 saves in 1290:04 minutes of action and 14 starts.
Alejandra Camarillo, Eastern New Mexico University, started in net for the Hounds in back-to-back games on Saturday
and Sunday. She made five saves and allowed just one goal to Angelo State. Her shutout of UT Permian Basin was her
fourth in the last five home matches of the season.

Angelo State
Angelo State recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time all season with 1-0 wins against ENMU and WT over the
weekend.
Eastern New Mexico
The Greyhounds split a pair of matches over the weekend to finish 2-1-2 over their final five home matches. In those
matches, goalkeeper Alejandra Camarillo posted four shutouts and allowed just one goal. Mirka Zamarripa scored in
overtime on a pass from Ariel Lopez to lift the Hounds past UT Permian Basin. This week, ENMU will visit Texas Woman's
and Texas A&M-Commerce.
Midwestern State
3. Midwestern State reached the 10-win plateau last weekend following victories over Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas
Woman's to earn season sweeps of the Lions and Pioneers. The Mustangs improved to 10-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the
LSC to sit in second place in the conference standings. On Tuesday, Midwestern State achieved its second-highest
ranking in program history at No. 11 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, jumping 13 spots in the national rankings for its
highest placement since Sept. 29, 2009. Freshman Kelly Cannistra scored five points on the week to lead the Mustangs
including a four-point performance in a comeback win over Texas Woman's on Sunday. MSU takes on its final road trip
of the regular season this weekend, opening up with UT Permian Basin Friday at 7 p.m. at the UTPB Turf Field in Odessa.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions went 0-1-1 last week. They tied Texas Woman's 1-1 before falling to Midwestern State 1-0. The Lions conclude
their home regular season schedule this week with matches against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico.
Texas Woman’s
TWU tied with Texas A&M-Commerce, 1-1, Wednesday and fell 3-2 to No. 24 Midwestern State Sunday.

The West Texas A&M women's soccer team posted its sixth shutout of the season with a 1-0 win over UT Permian Basin
Friday and dropped a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Angelo State on Sunday for the first conference loss of the season...The
Lady Buffs had 37 shots with 20 on frame, but were able to score just one goal for the week...WT junior goalkepeer
Courtney Dippel played all 180 minutes, allowing one goal (0.5 GAA) with six saves (.857) and faced 15 shots with the
shutout win...Freshman Lauren Burk scored her first career goal and game winner in the 1-0 victory over
UTPB...Sophomore Marlene van Mourik had the assist on the score...WT now heads on the road in a pair of crucial LSC
