Bullhorn Speech Analysis
Rebuilding of Patriotism Former President George W. Bush's speech, "Bullhorn", was given through a megaphone on top the rumble of 220 floors of
a horrific event. On the day of September 11, 2001, an Islamic group, called Al–Qaeda, hijacked four American passenger airliners to carry out suicide
attacks against targets across the United States. The potential targets included: the twin towers, the Pentagon and the White House. Three of the four
hijacked airliners accomplished their goal as the lives of 3,000 innocent civilians were taken. A cloud of grief and mourn covered the country as they
experience the worst tragedy since 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Soon after the attack on September 14th, a ray of hope appeared as President
Bush took the stage. Throughout his speech, three rhetorical devices were shown are: ethos, logos, and pathos. Bush used these three devices to
connect with the audiences' emotions, appeal to the audiences' ethics, and appeal to the logical side of the audience additionally, all while creating a
sufficient speech to the comfort the country.
The rhetorical device, ethos, is used throughout "Bullhorn," which is the persuasion of the audience through ethnic such as: their reputation,
experience, and values the author exerts through the claim. President Bush contributes all appeals throughout his speech. As Melissa H. Weresh's, a
director of legal writing and professor of law at Duke University, asserts "...it is important to consider not only

Benedict Arnold Research Paper
Benedict Arnold, born January 14, 1741, in Norwich, Connecticut, had succeeded to be an all around, skilled man. His childhood, "was full of
hardships that took a lot of loneliness and work to get over." Throughout his childhood, he dealt with great quantities of loss, as well as the fact he
had to scurry for survival. Therefore, Benedict worked many jobs to help his situation, and despite the troubles, he always seemed to be determined
to do more. After all of his jobs, Benedict wanted to be in the militia, as well as join the sons of liberty, "to take action over the violated rights and
frustration that taxes are bringing." Over the years in the militia, Benedict won and lost many battles, fighting as a proud citizen of the colonies. It has
been heard that he has a major problem with an outburst of opinion, and "has made many enemies in command." The New York Gazette can make the...

His impacts in the colonies are shown mostly through his time at war. Recently, in the Battle of Saratoga, Benedict Arnold was sent to help Horatio
Gates as an infantry commander and all around second in command. During these battles, Benedict had definitely expressed his opinion to General
Gates and admits to speaking this way to his officer. In the Battle of Saratoga, he realized that his troops needed to go into the woods a fight the
British, but General Gates only wanted to wait. Benedict Arnold eventually convinced General Gates to let them fight, so they did as they were told
and went to the British. They fought "as the best soldiers they could be," but General Gates broke off the battle, letting British General John Burgoyne
keep the land and the confidence. Benedict, then, fought Burgoyne again, on October 7th. Because of his behavior in the first battle, Benedict Arnold
was told by the general to stay in his headquarters, rather than

Becoming An Anesthesiologist
In the operating room, one of the most important jobs is that of an anesthesiologist. He or she is a medical doctor who administers anesthesia, a drug
used to reduce pain, to a patient during a surgical procedure. An anesthesiologist is responsible for monitoring the patient before, during, and after the
surgical procedure to ensure the correct dosage of anesthesia is administered and to deal with any allergic reactions to or complications with the drug.
Before administering the drug, an anesthesiologist must carefully review a patient's medical history and condition to find the correct dosage of
anesthesia needed. He or she must also meet with the patient to explain what will be happening when the patient is under the influence of the drug. ...

Usually, wake up time is around 5:30 AM or earlier on a weekday with an arrival time at thehospital of 6:00 AM. After entering the hospital, the
doctor changes into his or her scrubs and flower cap and grabs his OR (operating room) schedule. The anesthesiologist then heads to the operating
room to check all equipment and drugs for the day. This process takes about 20–40 minutes. At around 6:30 AM, there is a morning lecture where the
doctor meets with the patient to talk about the anesthetic plans as well as review the patient's medical history. Then the patient goes into the OR.
During the surgery, the doctor may take a fifteen minute break sometime in the morning. However, he or she must always be easily accessible in
the case of an emergency. There is also a lunch break in the afternoon, but again, the doctor is on standby in case anything goes awry during the
surgery. Most cases, the surgery ends between 3:30 to 5 PM and a resident comes to take his spot after 5 PM. Before the doctor leaves, he or she must
check tomorrow's schedule and review patient's history. This takes about 30–45 minutes. During this time, the anesthesiologist also discusses the
patient's conditions with other members of the surgical team. Sometimes in the afternoon, the anesthesiologist will have to do some teaching to instruct
residents and medical school students. At around 5–6 PM, he or she is allowed to head home for the day. However, sometimes, the anesthesiologist
may be on call and have to come back to the hospital for an

DeLauro ran for the open seat and defeated Republican State Senator Thomas Scott 52% to 48%. She has never faced another election so close, and
has been reelected twelve times, never going below 63% of the vote. This past election in 2016, DeLauro was up against Republican candidate Angel
Cadena, but DeLauro was re–elected with 69% of the vote. It is very clearly shown by certain controversial topics that Rosa DeLauro is a liberal or has
liberal idealism. To start with DeLauro is pro–choice and believes that anybody can have an abortion for absolutely any reason. Rosa DeLauro's
interest group ratings include the following: ADA (Americans for Democratic Action) (2006, Liberal) is 100%, ACLU (American Civil Liberties
Union) (2011–2012, Liberal) is 100%, ACU (American Conservative Union) (2010, conservative) 0%, FDR (Family Research Council) (2013,

liberal interest groups that Rosa DeLauro is as liberal as they come. Connecticut and its Senior Senator The History of Connecticut is very interesting,

What Is The Relationship Between Bill And Bud's Life
There are more than three billion people living on Earth; however, not everyone adores each other. On the other hand, if people met Bill and Bud,
two main characters from The Tender Bar, they would find them charming. J.R. Moehringer wrote an emotional autobiography about himself and his
devastating life, in The Tender Bar, J.R. walked into a bookstore in an unhabituated mall, and met Bill and Bud, who changes his life forever. Many
youth, teens, and adults would find Bill and Bud likeable, because the pair of them are smart, optimist, and loving. To begin, Bill and Bud are clever

matter, and instead gave J.R. a piece of advice, " fear will be the fuel for all your success, and the root cause for all you failures, and the underlying
dilemma in every story you tell yourself about yourself" (6). When Bud told J.R. the forewarning, that night during dinner with J.R. mother, he
told her," I'd decided to apply to Yale," (6), because Bud taught J.R. that lesson, he applied to Yale and was accepted. With optimistic advice, many
readers would find Bill and Bud a likeable pair. Finally, Bill and Bud are loving people who most people find likeable. They guided J.R.
throughout his "broken" life, when they first met J.R., he stammered, " I was nobody" (3) and Bill and Bud took him under their care like loving
fathers. For example, while J.R. worked at a bookstore, Bill and Bid would supply him with works of literature. "He brought the books into the
stockroom and quickly ripped the cover off each one. It seemed to cause him pain, like ripping off a bandage" (4). Bill and Bud suffered though
several hard tasks that caused them emotional pain, because they loved books and thought of it as a miracle. Through this action, Bill and Bud showed

What Are Benedict Arnold's Mistakes
Benedict Arnold V was born in the year of 1741 on the 14th of January in Norwich, Connecticut. His mom, Hannah Arnold was a wealthy women
and married his dad, Benedict Arnold III a successful merchant and sea captain. Benedict had five brothers and sisters, but only one lived to be an
adult. Benedict Arnold V went to a private school until the age of 13, because of his dad's mistakes. His dad made some bad business deals, which
caused him to start drinking a lot and then their money started to deplenish. He was forced to practice being a apothecary. Benedict Arnold V didn't

He was accused by his enemies that he had poor behavior in the march through Maine. Arnold also got accused of incompetence on Lake
Champlain. On February of 1777, Congress promoted five other brigadier generals all below Arnold in rank to the rank of major general ( a rank
above Arnold Benedict's rank). E.W.B. states that, "only Washington's pleas kept Arnold from resigning from the army." He saw an opportunity to
get promoted when he heard of a British attack on American supply stations in Danbury, Connecticut. He gathered a local militia and rushed to stop
the British, although when he got there it was too late to stop the destruction of the supplies, he did manage to make the British flee. The Congress
appreciated what he had done and on May 2nd he got promoted to major general, but Arnold was still below the other five that got promoted in rank.
Benedict was charged of stealing property and goods from Montreal merchants, when the Canadian campaign was happening. He was later cleared of
the charge, but he was so mad that he decided to resign from the army on July 1777. Washington pleaded with Benedict to rejoin the army, because he

Biography of Roger Sherman Essay
Roger Sherman
Roger Sherman is someone that you may say is the forgotten founding father, so let's change that. Roger Sherman was a very influential politician and
lawyer, being admired by some of greatest and brightest men of this time.
Roger Sherman was born in Newton, Massachusetts on April 19, 1721. When Sherman was two, his family left Newton to go a small town called
Stoughton. This town was and still is about 21 miles from Boston, Massachusetts. Sherman's father farmed some land in Stoughton to support his
family. Because of this, Sherman and his siblings where not provided with a formal education. At the time whenRoger Sherman was 13, a reverend that

Not long after the opening of this store, Sherman was told by a neighbor of a coming legal issue. Sherman was intending on visiting the town that
there was an attorney at, so he agreed to go for his friend and tell the points in the dispute. The subject was complex, so Sherman wrote some notes
about it. Whenever Sherman went and stated the case, while referring to his notes. The attorney was impressed by Sherman's skill at such things, and
told him that he should really consider becoming an attorney. After this, Sherman starting studying law. Along with him studying law, he still had the
responsibilities of his family. Later, Sherman thought he should close down his shop and join a business partnership with his older brother, who
owned a general store. After he was convinced to start studying law, he then began to go through a long chain of jobs. At the age of twenty four,
after he was in a partnership with his brother, he became the county surveyor of Litchfield County. In 1754, he became an attorney and was admitted
to bar. If you are admitted to bar, that means that you are given permission to practice law in a certain court system. He very quickly proved that he
was trustworthy and responsible enough to be quickly promoted through the rank of the court system. Sherman managed to become justice of the
peace for New Milford within a single year of being admitted to bar. In

Essay on John Fitzgerald Kennedy
On the sunny morning of November 22, 1963 the United States lost a great leader, man, and the 35th president, John F. Kennedy. No one really
knows the reasons behind the assassination or who actually killed JFK. JFK was one of the most liked presidents by the people because of his age
and his looks. If, on that friday morning, no one had pulled a trigger we may have had a change in our current history. The United States may have
never become as involved in the Vietnam War, or maybe there may have never been a Vietnam War. There is no way to say it wouldn't have happened
but we will never know.

Illinois and then for additional training at the Motor Torpedo Boat Center at Melville, Rhode Island. In late April 1943, LieutenantJohn F. Kennedy was
put in command of a PT 109. On August 1, 1943, during a routine night patrol, a Japanese destroyer collided in the darkness with Kennedy's craft

Tobacco And Its Effect On America
With such an expansive history in Connecticut, the subject of tobacco is just as encompassing. With roots in Windsor colonial history through its
height in the 1950s, sources try to capture it all at a surface level. Scholars have studied tobacco over time evaluating its role in the community at that
moment in time. Over a variety of sources, overall the response to tobacco in Windsor has been positive as it serves as both an economic influence and
a cultural one as well. Starting at one of the most recent sources, Brianna Dunlap looks at the entire Connecticut River valley as the backdrop as
Connecticut's tobacco industry in Connecticut Valley Tobacco. Published in 2016, Dunlap captures tobacco's history starting at its roots in the 1600s
through Cuba's reopening trade ports in 2015. This book serves to establish Windsor's connection with tobacco and how it changed over time to match
the changing landscape around the tobacco sheds.
Dunlap explains how location was the initial reason that tobacco came and conquered the fields with access to both the Connecticut and Farmington
rivers. She states, "for the settlers, this meant access to trade routes and economic staying power, making the region a modern hub for development."
With immediate access, settlers began quickly to establish Windsor using tobacco as a main export back to England and throughout the colonies. This
platform provides Windsor a booming industry that allows for development of other industries thus affecting

Returning home after the battle, he learned that his wife had died earlier in the month. On June 27, 1775, a powerful group called the Continental

He proposed a second invasion of Canada to General George Washington. The ill–fated mission ran into problems. Bad weather and poor timing caused
the battle to fail. Early on, Arnold received a severe leg wound and was carried off the field. The battle raged on, but ultimately led to an embarrassing
defeat for the Americans.
Though he fought heroically in conflicts, including the Battle of Lake Champlain in 1776 and Battle of Saratoga in October 1777, he made many

Coastal Storms Affecting Connecticut's Coastal Populations
Sea level rise caused by global warming poses clear threats to coastal populations in Connecticut. In fact, models have depicted that the rate of global
sea level rise could elevate by two to five times by the end of this century, and this will affect the health of residents and the state's economy due to
increase the impacts of coastal storms in urban areas (Gornitz et al., 2004). Reports have shown that Connecticut's coastline has historically been at risk
due to coastal storms (Frumhoff et al., 2007). For instance, a 2007 synthesis report of Northeast Climate Impacts Assessment (NECIA) suggested that
there might be an increase in the number of winter storms received in coastal Connecticut (particularly late in the winter). Also, in the ... Show more

Reports revealed that by 2080s, the projected flood heights for locations in Connecticut (e.g., Norwalk, Westport, Bridgeport, Greenwich Cove,
Shippan Point, Stamford, and Stratford) could range from 11.5 to 13 feet for a Category 1 hurricane, and 14.5 to 15.7 feet for a Category 3 storm
(Gornitz et al., 2004). Therefore, rising sea level could account for 18–22% of the increase in flood height (in the high sea–level rise scenario) or 6–8%
in the lower case (Gornitz et al., 2004). With the rising sea level, floods generated by storms of this magnitude could approach 18 feet by the 2080s
(Gornitz et al., 2004). The increase in the projected flood level cities in Connecticut will be greatly affected such as Bridgeport and New Haven. As an
illustration, a significant portion of both Bridgeport and New Haven lies within the high–risk flood zone, and during severe storms this place a large
population, private property, and infrastructure at high risk. In New Haven, some infrastructures that are at risk include the New Haven railroad station

loving the outdoors (Lough). As Hale got older, he became stronger. Sadly Hale's mother Elizabeth died when he was 12 shortly after giving birth to

culture shock for Hale (Tracy 23), Even though he was well liked, he was still lonely. But a couple months later he was offered a job at Union School in
New London, Connecticut, which he gladly accepted. He fell in love with New London. It was busy and exciting like New Haven. Hale taught math,

Physical developments of an infant as they grow are discussed, including the ability to walk. According to Dr. Spock, a child should receive plenty of
social interaction so they can grow into a "people person;" this can hold much relevance to the course since the United States continued to grow and
maintain balance through compromises, like the Compromise of 1850. On the other hand, several diseases and conditions an infant may face and ways
to deal with them are presented in detail. I would recommend never giving a child medication that has not been cleared by a doctor beforehand.
Toddlers are between the ages of one and two. At this stage, children start to become more independent and outgoing, feeling adventurous (but only in

Obesity In Huntington's Obese City
In recent years, information about how our food choices affect our health has started to emerge in popular society. The outrageous percentage of
people suffering with diseases such as obesity, diabetes and asthma has people asking questions and looking for causes (and solutions). Television
shows such as Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution, in which one ambitious English chef sets out to make the most obese city in America healthier,
explains just how serious these problems have become. The scenic city of Huntington, WV has been the key driving force of his movement. This
city is only a few miles from where I live. The most obese city in America. The state of West Virginia, has been the most obese state in the United
States from 2010 through 2012. "Overall, obesity in the U.S. has increased from 26.2 percent in 2012 to 27.1 percent in 2013; the obesity rate was
25.5 percent in 2008" (Huffington post, 2014). This continuously increasing current global issue effects our society, our landscape and our cities. As

"My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." This is one of the most famous quotes John
F. Kennedy ever presented during his term as president of these United States. Hello I am Miya Cole and in these next few minutes I will be informing
you about our thirty fifth president, John F. Kennedy.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy or better known as JFK was born May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. JFK had a particularly big family which
consisted of three brothers and four sister. Kennedy lived in Brookline for 10 years and attended the Edward Devotion School, the Noble and
Greenough Lower School, and the Dexter School through 4th grade. In 1927, the Kennedy family moved to New York City. Kennedy attended the
lower campus of Riverdale Country School, a private school for boys, from 5th to 7th grade. Two years later, the family moved to the suburb of
Bronxville, New York, where Kennedy was a member of Scout Troop 2. In September 1930, Kennedy attended the Canterbury School in New Milford,
Connecticut and about a year later he had to leave Canterbury due an illness.
In September 1931, Kennedy was sent to the The Choate School in Wallingford, Connecticut for 9th through 12th grade. During his years there he
sort of a trouble maker. He and his friend were most notorious for using a cherry bomb or firecracker to explode toilet seats. In June of 1935 Kennedy
graduated from Choate. In September 1936, Kennedy

Western Connecticut Health Network
Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) is a fairly large regional network, with a scope encompassing the vast majority of specialties and
services as would be expected between several hospitals and a plethora of outpatient facilities. A well–organized executive leadership model helps
ensure quality, through the core values WCHN has established, whilst keeping themselves in check through third party surveys and analysis. WCHN's
quality improvements have simply built onto an already strong foundation of health care quality, with a focus on the patients.
Organizational Overview WCHN is a not for profit organization comprised of 3 hospitals, over 30 physician offices, and an urgent care center as well as

Network leadership has been organized in such a way that it can account for quality and excellence in every area possible. The CEO of the network is
also president of Danbury and New Milford Hospital, while the CSO maintains presidency of Norwalk Hospital. The COO is also a Chief Nursing
Officer, while a separate executive holds the title of Chief Clinical Officer. A Chief Audit and Compliance Office helps ensure HIPPA compliance, as
well as maintain the various accreditations the network holds. Like most organizations, it has a CFO, CIO and CDO as well as a Chief Human
Resources Officer due to the immense size of the organizations staffing, especially with integration between the various hospitals. Three executive
directors hold the final seats, Chief of Staff, WCMG (outpatient services) and Vice President, as well as Research and Innovation ("about WCHN" n.d.).
Quality Defined and Measured WCHN has laid out a comprehensive, yet surprisingly simple set of values which help them achieve quality –
excellence, integrity, compassion, teamwork, and fiscal responsibility ("about WCHN" n.d.). These broadly align with Deming's Principles, allowing
for quality improvement across the board. These values are further instilled into

Quiznos Went Out of Business in Rexburg
Why did Quiznos go out of business in Rexburg? "Did you know that we are closing this week?" she asked. It was the same lady who had taken my
order and made the same sandwich for me every week–and sometimes more... for the last couple of years. I almost couldn't believe my ears as I replied
saying, "Are you serious? When?" The Quiznos that was once very close to my house in Idaho Falls was going under. It was the start of something that
would truly prove to be detrimental to my physical and emotional well–being. Now fast–forward a couple of years. Imagine that you're in my shoes,
with the knowledge that there is not a Quiznos in operation (that you know of) within 150 miles. Then you see it: the Quiznos sign. You walk up for
a closer look, and find that the place is completely desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is exactly what I
did.
So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You'd think it would be food. In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what
excellent food does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a lot about the quality of food, and a customers experience. The experience that one has in a
restaurant is something that should be completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at a restaurant, there is a
good chance that he or she will not come back. The quality of the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It's important to

John F. Kennedy Essay
Among his many honors as President of the United States of America, John Fitzgerald Kennedy remains the youngest man ever elected to the office
of Chief Executive, and the youngest man to die while still fulfilling his duties. Serving as America's President, John F. Kennedy held his office for
1000 days, dying November 22nd, 1963, assassinated at the age of 46.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29th, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, the second son of nine children of the wealthy Roman Catholic
Kennedy family. Joseph Patrick Kennedy, Kennedy's father, was a self–improving multi–millionaire who had built a financial empire through projects
in banking, the stock market, ship building and the film industry and liquor distribution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That very thesis was later expanded into his best selling book, While England Slept.
As a youth, John F. Kennedy never sought a vocation in politics, but planned to become a journalist. Joseph Kennedy, as head of the nation's
Securities and Exchange Commission and a U.S. Ambassador, coached his eldest son, Joe, to move on and increase his family's political tradition. Joe
and John Kennedy both enlisted in the armed forces during World War II, John joining the U.S. Navy in 1941.
In 1943, while appointed to the South Pacific as the commander of a torpedo boat, John Kennedy was nearly killed in combat when his PT 109 ship
was rammed and sunk by an enemy ship. The 26–year–old Kennedy, though badly wounded, was able to bring his existing crew through miles of harsh
waters to shelter, an act which earned him the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroism. Kennedy's injuries seriously aggravated an old back
injury, and although what proved to be chronic pain, he returned to active duty and served until 1945. Kennedy's older brother Joe, the successor
apparent to the Kennedy's political tradition, did not endure the war.
Once stateside, John Kennedy was able to momentarily chase a journalism career as a reporter for the Hearst Newspapers, but was steered into politics
by Joseph Kennedy. In 1947, John F. Kennedy was elected the

Why Schools Are Not to Blame for Cyber Bullying Essay
A young boy was once sitting on his computer when he saw an email from one of his peers. He opened the email, and soon enough realized he was
being bullied. However, the young boy let the cyber–bullying get out of control. His parents told the school about it, but there was nothing they could
do. The boy had to go to a new school where he wouldn't be bullied. There are many problems like this that get out of hand, so much that the school
can do nothing to help. Many people blame the school for not helping, when there is nothing they can do about it. Therefore, schools do not have the
responsibility to respond to and protect students from the challenge of cyber–bullying, even if it's off campus.

They said that students must learn themselves that they should not say something online that they wouldn't say in person. For example, if a student
calls someone ugly online, they probably wouldn't say that in person. However, the school cannot do anything to stop this because they did it at
home. The school systems cannot be held responsible for things that students do at home, and they should therefore, not be responsible to take action
against cyber–bullying.
Others would say that schools do have the responsibility to prevent bullying when the schools helping to prevent bullying empowers students to face
up to their bullies. However, this is not the case.Students would not be empowered to stand up to their bullies if schools took responsibility for the
students. Instead of standing up to the bullies themselves, the students would probably try to make the school take care of it. This goes to show that
having the school take care of bullying for the students, would not help the students learn how to take care of things on their own. For example, if the
students figured out that the school would take care of something for them, they would not want to do things themselves. Most students would probably
get lazy. Therefore, schools should not be bound by law to take care of bullying because students would become lazy.
Lastly, schools do not have the responsibility to respond to the cyber–bullying of their students is because sometimes, students do not tell

"And so my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your county" (MacSiccar, 1995, p. 46). People don't
realize that phrase was borrowed by JFK from one of America's least memorable presidents, Warren G. Harding. The reason that quote is now

troubled with a bunch of sickness, and to top it off, he was a little rebellious. He graduated in 1935 and was only ranked 64th out of 112 students.
One year, while playing football, he ruptured his lower lumbar disc, this stopped him from playing football ever again and caused him lots of pain
for the rest of his life. During JFK's senior year at Harvard, he wrote a paper that all of his mentors liked and he graduated cum laude in 1940. Then
a publisher that his dad knew published JFK's thesis and it sold 80,000 copies. This was the first time he came out from his older brother 's shadow at

What Is Infrared Pading
When it comes to repairing asphalt pavement, timing is critical. The longer that a break in the pavement is allowed to go without proper repair, the
more likely it becomes that you will incur extensive damage that will be costly to resolve. Once a pothole develops, it can allow a substantial amount of
water to reach the pavement's supporting foundation. The foundation becomes eroded, additional potholes form and existing potholes turn into craters
that can cause serious damage to vehicles and painful injuries to pedestrians. What Causes Potholes? Although potholes can potentially result from
improper installation of the asphalt pavement, most of the time, they are weather–related. If cracks are not filled, water can leak underneath the
pavement. Sand and gravel may collect in the crack as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To understand why infrared paving is an ideal choice for repairing potholes, it might be helpful to review how traditional repairs are typically made. In
most cases, the contractor would remove the damaged area by cutting it out with a saw before installing new asphalt. This method leaves a seam where
the new asphalt meets the existing pavement, and this seam is a weak point that could fail, allowing water penetration to occur. Furthermore, if the
weather is quite cold, the contractor might have to resort to a temporary patch using a cold–mix material, requiring a second repair once conditions
permit. Infrared paving eliminates cold seams and can be performed in cooler weather than most hot–mix repairs. In fact, infrared paving can often be
performed in the middle of winter in the Connecticut area. Infrared technology is used to heat and soften the area needing repair as well as a small
part of the surrounding pavement. Once the area has been softened enough, the asphalt is worked and new asphalt is mixed in if it is needed. The
repaired area is seamlessly fused to the existing pavement for a strong, durable repair that is often virtually

How Did Nathan Hale Influence The Military
Nathan Hale was born in Coventry, Connecticut, in 1755 to Richard Hale and Elizabeth Strong, his parents. In 1768, when he was fourteen years old,
he was sent to Yale College with his brother, Enoch. Nathan was a classmate of a patriot spy. His name was Benjamin Tallmadge. Nathan graduated
with first–class honors at the age of 18 and became a teacher. He was the first in East Haddam and later in New London. After the Revolutionary War
began, he joined a Connecticut militia and was elected first lieutenant. It has been suggested that he was unsure as to whether he wanted to fight, or
whether he was hindered because his teaching contract in New London did not expire until several months later, in July 1775. On July 4, 1775, Hale
received a letter from his classmate and friend, who had gone to Boston to see the siege for himself. He wrote to Hale, "Was I in your condition, I
think the more extensive service would be my choice. Tallmadge's letter was so inspiring that, several days later, Hale accepted a commission as first

Essay On New Haven
The city of New Haven, Connecticut has been a long–standing settlement. Established officially by Europeans in March of 1638 (Source 3), New
Haven has a detailed history of population declines and growth. The territory that is now New Haven was once inhabited by the Native American
group the Quinnipiack (Source 6). The accrual of land was easy for the English settlers in this territory due to the conflicts between the Native
American groups. The Quinnipiack tribe occupied the area near the harbor and the Mohawks and Pequots occupied the surrounding area and constantly
harassed the Quinnipiack. When the English arrived the Quinnipiack traded their land for protection, which the English agreed to immediately.
Through the years the settlement of New Haven has grown and declined in population due to different factors including political, economic and many
more. The English settlers first selected the territory that is now New Haven due to its location and availability of resources. New Haven can be

Criminal Justice Internship At The Yale Child Abuse Programs

When I walked into the Yale building on my first day as an intern, I did not know what to expect, and I certainly had no idea that my time there
would leave such a huge impact on me. I remember thinking that this was my chance to confirm that my ultimate goal of working as a forensic

By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an end to the shipping of air. The third source of
innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old
system, with bakeries running at 110–percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread plants; the only question was where.
Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple "what–if" scenarios to come up with
the most efficient network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest Baking, deployed state–of–the–art,
fully automated systems to allow for increased production and greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C.
and Centralia, Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway's vendors to double the efficiency of bread–line capacity
while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H. Robinson reevaluate the bread–sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in
manufacturing costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely with Subway's marketing and

Smart Phones And Class Rooms
Alphonsine Sabiyumva English 12 9/04/2014 Smart Phones in Class Rooms One of the worst massacre murders to ever occur in an American High
School building was the 1999 shooting rampage at Columbine High school in Littleton Colorado. There were 12 students and one teacher who lost
their lives because of this incident. Some schools across the country made new policies to allow students to carry cell phones as a means to feel safe.
After this incident however, there were schools that continue to ban them. Those schools that don't allow cell phones feel they cause distractions in
class and can be used to cheat on a tests. Although there is a risk of students cheating in the class due to cell phones, some schools have let their
students use... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagine if these students that were murdered were in the same class rooms that we are In; or another student parents that goes to ; they didn't
have a cell phone to be able to call their parents to tell me them what is happening and to contact the emergency room. Their parents could get very
worried and don't have a chance to talk to their child since they don't have cell phones. In today's world there is a lot of students that bully others
or get in many fights, when that happens a lot of students do not have cell phone to be able to call for help or able to contact their parents, or
another teacher for help or call the police for help. Another major reason that students should be able to their cell phone in a class room was in of
1929, the St. Valentine massacre happened in Chicago IL. The massacre was the worse gang related killing that's ever recorded, the victims that
were a part of the massacre was young children. Majority of secondary schools has a lot of gang violence going on. So it cause schools to go on
lock downs due to things that have happened around the school. So, for the student's safety, just in case the school goes on lock frag down. Their
parents would need to know. So the students could just call or text their parents and tell them what's going on. Imagine if one of the students from our
district was around there and he are she don't have a cell to contact somebody are if that massacre takes a place on a

Union) (2011–2012, Liberal) is 100%, ACU (American Conservative Union) (2010, conservative) 0%, FDR (Family Research Council) (2013,
conservative) is 0%, and the CC (Christian Coalition) (2014, conservative) is 0%. We can see from political issues and from both conservative and
liberal interest groups that Rosa DeLauro is as liberal as they come. Connecticut and its Senior Senator The History of Connecticut is very interesting,
here is a brief summary about some interesting facts about Connecticut, "Connecticut takes its name from the Mohegan word, "Quinnehtukqut,"

New Cana A Stereotypical Community
It is 1973. New Canaan, Connecticut is a prototypical 'bedroom'; community. Modern homes, clean, quiet streets and plenty of greenspace lend an air of
contentment to the setting. However, behind the doors of these homes discontent and ennui are thriving.
'…affluent Americans increasingly clustered in suburban areas, where jobs for women were limited and domestic help was in short supply.
Husbands were away from home longer because they had to commute to work, leaving the wives to bear the complete responsibility for the

He is excited by his pursuits, an exhilaration his family does not share. Ben Hood is a commuter, but even when home in New Canaan, he is
wrapped up in cocktails, the arms of Jane, and himself. Elena and Jane are above all else, bored. Each of them deals with her boredom in her own
way. Jane fills the void by sleeping with Ben Hood, while Elena emulates her daughter by mounting a bicycle and riding down to the local pharmacy
to shoplift. In New Canaan, there are few distractions for those who spend all their time in the town. While the men travel to the city to work, their
wives and children are left searching for ways to occupy the idle hours. Sandy Carver spends his time blowing things up, while his brother ponders
nature and the body of sexually curious Wendy Hood in a neighbor's empty swimming pool. Surrounding them all is the sour stench of a disgraced
President Nixon on his last political legs and a nation withdrawing from an unpopular war in Vietnam. As they wont for nothing material, their
detachment from the daily struggles of life fuels their growing separation from each other and themselves. They are forever going to 'talk about it in the

spent discussing all but what is truly important.

Kennedy Jr. and Patrick Kennedy. In 1956, JFK was nearly preferred as a Democratic presidential candidate. In 1960, JFK was determined to run for
United States President. Then on November 8, 1960, Kennedy crushed Nixon through a razor–thin margin, and JFK was announced the 35th President
of the United States of America. When JFK was elected he was named a historic president in several respects. Because at the age of 43 he was the
second youngest American president in history, second only to Theodore Roosevelt, who was elected at the age of 42. JFK was also the first ever

all Americans to more active citizenship. "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country." Some of JFK's
tremendous accomplishments during his brief tenure as president, was creating the Peace Corps by executive order in 1961. By the end of the 20th
century, there were over 170,000 citizens enlisted that would serve in 135 countries. In 1961, JFK decided to create the Alliance for Progress to foster

Bullhorn Speech Analysis

  • 1. Bullhorn Speech Analysis Rebuilding of Patriotism Former President George W. Bush's speech, "Bullhorn", was given through a megaphone on top the rumble of 220 floors of a horrific event. On the day of September 11, 2001, an Islamic group, called Al–Qaeda, hijacked four American passenger airliners to carry out suicide attacks against targets across the United States. The potential targets included: the twin towers, the Pentagon and the White House. Three of the four hijacked airliners accomplished their goal as the lives of 3,000 innocent civilians were taken. A cloud of grief and mourn covered the country as they experience the worst tragedy since 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Soon after the attack on September 14th, a ray of hope appeared as President Bush took the stage. Throughout his speech, three rhetorical devices were shown are: ethos, logos, and pathos. Bush used these three devices to connect with the audiences' emotions, appeal to the audiences' ethics, and appeal to the logical side of the audience additionally, all while creating a sufficient speech to the comfort the country. The rhetorical device, ethos, is used throughout "Bullhorn," which is the persuasion of the audience through ethnic such as: their reputation, experience, and values the author exerts through the claim. President Bush contributes all appeals throughout his speech. As Melissa H. His childhood, "was full of hardships that took a lot of loneliness and work to get over." Throughout his childhood, he dealt with great quantities of loss, as well as the fact he had to scurry for survival. Therefore, Benedict worked many jobs to help his situation, and despite the troubles, he always seemed to be determined to do more. After all of his jobs, Benedict wanted to be in the militia, as well as join the sons of liberty, "to take action over the violated rights and frustration that taxes are bringing." Over the years in the militia, Benedict won and lost many battles, fighting as a proud citizen of the colonies. It has been heard that he has a major problem with an outburst of opinion, and "has made many enemies in command." The New York Gazette can make the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Battle of Saratoga, he realized that his troops needed to go into the woods a fight the British, but General Gates only wanted to wait. Benedict Arnold eventually convinced General Gates to let them fight, so they did as they were told and went to the British. They fought "as the best soldiers they could be," but General Gates broke off the battle, letting British General John Burgoyne keep the land and the confidence. Benedict, then, fought Burgoyne again, on October 7th. Because of his behavior in the first battle, Benedict Arnold was told by the general to stay in his headquarters, rather than ... This takes about 30–45 minutes. During this time, the anesthesiologist also discusses the patient's conditions with other members of the surgical team. Sometimes in the afternoon, the anesthesiologist will have to do some teaching to instruct residents and medical school students. At around 5–6 PM, he or she is allowed to head home for the day. With roots in Windsor colonial history through its height in the 1950s, sources try to capture it all at a surface level. Scholars have studied tobacco over time evaluating its role in the community at that moment in time. Over a variety of sources, overall the response to tobacco in Windsor has been positive as it serves as both an economic influence and a cultural one as well. Dunlap explains how location was the initial reason that tobacco came and conquered the fields with access to both the Connecticut and Farmington rivers. She states, "for the settlers, this meant access to trade routes and economic staying power, making the region a modern hub for development." In fact, models have depicted that the rate of global sea level rise could elevate by two to five times by the end of this century, and this will affect the health of residents and the state's economy due to increase the impacts of coastal storms in urban areas (Gornitz et al., 2004). Reports have shown that Connecticut's coastline has historically been at risk due to coastal storms (Frumhoff et al., 2007). Therefore, rising sea level could account for 18–22% of the increase in flood height (in the high sea–level rise scenario) or 6–8% in the lower case (Gornitz et al., 2004). On the other hand, several diseases and conditions an infant may face and ways to deal with them are presented in detail. Others would say that schools do have the responsibility to prevent bullying when the schools helping to prevent bullying empowers students to face up to their bullies. However, this is not the case.Students would not be empowered to stand up to their bullies if schools took responsibility for the students. • 31. What Is Infrared Pading When it comes to repairing asphalt pavement, timing is critical. The longer that a break in the pavement is allowed to go without proper repair, the more likely it becomes that you will incur extensive damage that will be costly to resolve. Once a pothole develops, it can allow a substantial amount of water to reach the pavement's supporting foundation. The foundation becomes eroded, additional potholes form and existing potholes turn into craters that can cause serious damage to vehicles and painful injuries to pedestrians. What Causes Potholes? Although potholes can potentially result from improper installation of the asphalt pavement, most of the time, they are weather–related. If cracks are not filled, water can leak underneath the pavement. Sand and gravel may collect in the crack as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To understand why infrared paving is an ideal choice for repairing potholes, it might be helpful to review how traditional repairs are typically made. In most cases, the contractor would remove the damaged area by cutting it out with a saw before installing new asphalt. This method leaves a seam where the new asphalt meets the existing pavement, and this seam is a weak point that could fail, allowing water penetration to occur. Furthermore, if the weather is quite cold, the contractor might have to resort to a temporary patch using a cold–mix material, requiring a second repair once conditions permit. Infrared paving eliminates cold seams and can be performed in cooler weather than most hot–mix repairs. In fact, infrared paving can often be performed in the middle of winter in the Connecticut area. Infrared technology is used to heat and soften the area needing repair as well as a small part of the surrounding pavement. Once the area has been softened enough, the asphalt is worked and new asphalt is mixed in if it is needed. The repaired area is seamlessly fused to the existing pavement for a strong, durable repair that is often virtually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Established officially by Europeans in March of 1638 (Source 3), New Haven has a detailed history of population declines and growth. The territory that is now New Haven was once inhabited by the Native American group the Quinnipiack (Source 6). The accrual of land was easy for the English settlers in this territory due to the conflicts between the Native American groups. The Quinnipiack tribe occupied the area near the harbor and the Mohawks and Pequots occupied the surrounding area and constantly harassed the Quinnipiack. When the English arrived the Quinnipiack traded their land for protection, which the English agreed to immediately. Today the harbor is still used for some trade as well as recreation. Lastly, the regional definition in regards to New Haven's geography can be defined as the coastal region of Connecticut. • 35. Criminal Justice Internship At The Yale Child Abuse Programs "If you have a passion for it, you'll find it out in the field" (Josh Valentino). I completed my criminal justice internship at the Yale Child Abuse Programs Department of Pediatrics, in New Haven Connecticut. My internship with the Child Abuse Programs was such an eye opening experience. I not only got to learn about my field of study, but this internship has also aloud me to discover a lot about myself as a person as well. When I walked into the Yale building on my first day as an intern, I did not know what to expect, and I certainly had no idea that my time there would leave such a huge impact on me. I remember thinking that this was my chance to confirm that my ultimate goal of working as a forensic psychologist was the right career choice me. On the first day of my internship, I was introduced to the staff that I would be working with, and I also received a tour of the clinic. I was informed that there were four forensic interviewers on staff, as well as four practitioners, a program coordinator, a child life specialist and a host of family and child services advocates. Since we work mostly with children, the clinic itself is very child friendly. We have a playroom that houses everything from iPads, to dollhouses. If a child is coming to our clinic, it is usually is because they are a victim of some kind of abuse. As you can imagine, this is a very traumatic time for them and we try to make it as comfortable as possible given the circumstances. The clinic also has an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Subway's Independent Purchasing Cooperative, which is owned by the chain's North American franchisees, has been using supply–chain software since the end of 2001 and rolled out the food–quality component, called Qualitynet, in 2004. By adding lightweight items such as straws and napkins, it was able to cube out the loads and bring an end to the shipping of air. The third source of innovation for IPC and Subway lay in the production and shipping of bread. Rapid growth in the number of stores was putting a strain on the old system, with bakeries running at 110–percent capacity in the summer months. IPC knew it had to add bread plants; the only question was where. Working with C.H. Robinson, the company analyzed the location of its current plants and DCs, devising multiple "what–if" scenarios to come up with the most efficient network and lowest landed cost. One new bread plant in Tolleson, Ariz., operated by Southwest Baking, deployed state–of–the–art, fully automated systems to allow for increased production and greater flexibility in volumes. Other facilities were built in Austin, Tex., Columbia, S.C. and Centralia, Wash. The new network, with plants closer to the source, allowed Subway's vendors to double the efficiency of bread–line capacity while improving product quality, Clabby says. IPC and C.H. Robinson reevaluate the bread–sourcing plan each year, taking into account changes in manufacturing costs, bakery capacity, volume commitments, market demand and cost per case. IPC works closely with Subway's marketing and product–development managers to support new demand. The $5 foot–long promotion, for example, led to a 20–percent increase in sales. That caused a 48–percent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were 12 students and one teacher who lost their lives because of this incident. Some schools across the country made new policies to allow students to carry cell phones as a means to feel safe. After this incident however, there were schools that continue to ban them. Those schools that don't allow cell phones feel they cause distractions in class and can be used to cheat on a tests. Imagine if these students that were murdered were in the same class rooms that we are In; or another student parents that goes to ; they didn't have a cell phone to be able to call their parents to tell me them what is happening and to contact the emergency room. Their parents could get very worried and don't have a chance to talk to their child since they don't have cell phones. In today's world there is a lot of students that bully others or get in many fights, when that happens a lot of students do not have cell phone to be able to call for help or able to contact their parents, or another teacher for help or call the police for help. Another major reason that students should be able to their cell phone in a class room was in of 1929, the St. Valentine massacre happened in Chicago IL. The massacre was the worse gang related killing that's ever recorded, the victims that were a part of the massacre was young children. Majority of secondary schools has a lot of gang violence going on. So it cause schools to go on lock downs due to things that have happened around the school. So, for the student's safety, just in case the school goes on lock frag down. Their parents would need to know. So the students could just call or text their parents and tell them what's going on. Imagine if one of the students from our district was around there and he are she don't have a cell to contact somebody are if that massacre takes a place on a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
