George Washington s Farewell Address
In George Washington s Farewell Address, Washington warns against the dangers of political
factions by stating, it occurs as matter of serious concern that any ground should have been
furnished for characterizing parties by geographical discriminations, Northern and Southern,
Atlantic and Western; whence designing men may endeavor to excite a belief that there is a real
difference of local interests and views (Washington). However, despite American leaders such as
George Washington and James Madison warning of factionalism, the country would be divided by
political parties arising out of the Northern and Southern states of the union. By the time Walt
Whitmanwrote Songs of Myself in 1855, tensions in the United Statescreated by factionalism were
at a high and were constantly elevating. In writing Songs of Myself , Whitman sought to help
mend some of the wounds created by factionalism by seeking to bring together Americans whom
factionalism had rendered alien to one another and by teaching to believe in oneself rather than the
beliefs of political parties. When Washington wrote his Farewell Address, he had already made the
decision to retire from his job as president and return to his home on Mount Vernon. No longer was
he concerned with making a future for the country. Instead he was concerned with offering the
parting advice of an old and affectionate friend . Washington offered his advice on a number of
different topics, but the most relevant topic to politics

Examples Of Colonial Colonization
Colonization itself is immoral the basic concept is the haves take from the have nots. Whether with
religious or secular intentions when an area is colonized the conquered people lose their homes,
livelihood, and quite often their culture. Even then the conquering nation is still maintaining power
through force rather than any allegiance on the part of the conquered. The premonition that
colonization could in anyway resemble something moral is a delusion. One example of
immorality is in the secular colonies. They were set up as a get rich quick scheme which took
advantage of the American Indians and imported slaves. They took the land and rights to the land
away from the Indians. South Carolina was the prime example of this starting as an

China Saper Threat
Weak USA Cyber Policy vs China s Security Threat to the USA?
Abstract
A cyber spy network based mainly in China hacked into classified documents from government and
private organizations. One of the biggest questions still remains unanswered. Should the U.S.
Congress conduct an in depth assessment of Chinese cyber spying and consider imposing tougher
penalties on companies that benefit from industrial espionage. In this paper I will review china s
cyber threat and possible USA solutions to protect against the threat.
Could Weak USA Cyber Policy be the cause of China s SecurityThreat?

cyber policy has embraced this idea. The Plan declared that in order for it to succeed,
government and the private sector must work together in a partnership. However since the
regulation has been in place it has failed to provide the security necessary to protect U.S. critical
infrastructure from a cyber attack. Even Congress has been slow to act regarding almost all
aspects of cyber policy (Wolf, J. 12 July, 2012). One of the problems facing a comprehensive
cyber security bill is that computers have become so omnipresent in our daily lives that they
cross every sector of the economy. It is not surprising that application of the laws of war to cyber
attacks has recently been a popular topic in politics. Some have even analyzed whether a cyber
attack can constitute an armed attack, it can but, whether a cyber attack with a specified effect
constitutes a use of force. An example, if the U.S. could prove that Iran absolute sent a computer
virus that infected a Wall Street, would dropping a bomb on Iran be justify? A responsible nation
must always consider the possibilities of collateral damage in deciding whether an act of self
defense is justified, be it cyber or kinetic. While the United States must undoubtedly increase its
cyber defense capabilities, the nation cannot retreat behind a Line of firewalls. As in the fight
against terrorism, the United States must be vigilant and aggressive in the face of both cyber

Steroids Damage both Athletes and Sports Essay
Athletes have passed or failed many tests in their life time. Either on the field or off the field it s
safe to say it would be better if they pass. Failing a test in the class room just means a bad grade.
Failing a test in the sports world means an athlete can lose their job, get suspended, lose money,
and lose their loyal fans and much more. Athletes can be drug tested for basically anything
whether it is illegal drugs or performance enhancing drugs. Steroids are obviously the most well
known drug in sports. There are three different types of steroids. Anabolic steroids are chemically
derived from testosterone. They are seen in growth and thickening of the body s non reproductive
tract tissues and have a decrease in body fat.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roughly 100 players tested positive for performance enhancing drugs in 2003, the first year of
testing. (Tomase par 2) Of those 100 names that tested positive, one very important name that sticks
out is Barry Bonds. Barry Bonds is the all time leading home run hitter with 762 home runs.
Bonds is charged with 10 counts of making false declarations to a grand jury and one count of
obstruction of justice. ( Bonds personal trainer S03) Greg Anderson was his personal trainer who
collected urine samples from Bonds. After spending a year in jail, Anderson is considered a vital
witness for the government as it tries to prove Bonds lied to a grand jury investigating steroid use
by athletes. ( Bonds personal trainer S03) Another big name on that list is former league most
valuable player Alex Rodriguez who is arguably the best player in baseball the past couple
seasons. He tested positive for two different anabolic steroids. The mentality of needing to hit a

substances. (Roberts and Epstein par. 3) Alex Rodriguez says I felt like I had all the weight in the

Pipeline Welding Essay
Becoming a pipeline welder is a quest unto itself because it has so many requirements in not only
educational preparation and personal qualities but also in the the daily expectations for this career.
Pipeline welders are highly skilled and sought after, well trained, versatile, join and repair tubular
products and components, assemble buildings, vessels, structures, and stand alone pipelines.
The history of pipeline welding is kind of cool in 1900 E. Fouch and F. Picard developed the first
oxyacetylene torch in France. In 1901 Menne invented the oxygen lance in Germany. In 1903 Hans
Goldschmidt from Essen, Germany invented Thermit welding, an exothermic reaction between

$50,000 $185,000 a year, and usually make $18 an hour starting out all the the way to making up
to $50 an hour for being experienced and been in the the business longer. The Projected growth
for pipeline welding jobs between 2010 2020 is being predicted at around 15% increase. Also it
could improve due to the the new laws passing the the Keystone and Dakota pipeline.
Some advantages to being a pipeline welder is you make fat stacks of cash, learning a good trade to

Why Is It Important To Respect Veterans
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted Aesop . I believe in an America to
where there is kindness. When kindness, of respected veterans. I also think of when/everyone
has the same level of respect. Also when there is shelter for all the homeless or somewhere for
them to go. This is what I believe America should be like and what it is to me. When veterans are
respected they know that everyone are about them. I also think of them being able to have more
respect than we do because they risked their lives just for us. Plus, veterans should have equal
rights. But most importantly they should be able to go somewhere and have no one look down on
them. In my mind veterans should be respected no matter what. There should also be

Video Game Industry Women
In particular the video game industry has been commanded by a mostly male eccentric
community, but in the past two decades, women have been encroaching on the alleged private life
of the male video gamer s community and they are petrified they are going to lose a unique time
to get away from their lives and women in general. It s a $27.5 billion industry, but the modern
video gameindustry had a humble beginning. (CNBC, 1). The video game industry was thought

established from the ground up by male computer scientist and engineers. The first video game

was not an easy one, but for those who did make it their contributions and their prominences had

suffering from a appeal to popular opinion, all because other people are saying women should

Napoleon and Castro Helped to Change the World Into Which...
Politics shape the world we live in, and to change the world we live in requires a special people,
for example Napoleon Bonaparte and Fidel Castro. These two men are some of few who took the
world they were born into and changed it dramatically, but how exactly did they go about doing
that?
Fidel Castro was born a bastard child, his father an immigrant from northwestern Spain, and raised
on a farm which his father led to success. Fidel was sent to a public school where he was
reprimanded for misbehaving and was sent to a prestigious private Catholic school.
Napoleon was born on Corsica an Italian island a year before it was transferred to France, whom he

one fleeing and Castro to take his revenge and killing him, leaving him the leader of Cuba.
Napoleon would spend the next few years fighting wars in Italy and Egypt under the French

Why Jackson May Recover Contract Damages
I PART A
Is Jackson able to recover by way of damages; the students profits made on Airbandb; and the loss
for the three months rent before 1 December?
To show that Jackson may recover contract damages, the following elements must be considered:
1.Breach
2.Loss
3.Causation
4.Remoteness
5.Assessment of damages
A Breach
To claim damages, Jackson must establish breached of contract. The contract prohibits the students
from sub letting the property without Jackson s express permission. Without his knowledge, they
sub let the house on Airbandb, thereby constituting breach.
B Loss
Jackson has lost the profit from three months rent before 1 December.
C Causation

Per Hadley v Baxendale remoteness is satisfied where the damage either:
(a)arose naturally according to the usual course of things, from the breach; or
(b)may reasonably be supposed to have been in the contemplation of both parties at the time they
made the contract, as a probable result of the breach.
Applying the first limb, the students were presumably aware that subletting was a serious
possibility in termination and loss of future rent payments (until a new tenant was found), thus
rendering the loss reasonably foreseeable . While the students may argue that the extent of the
loss as a full three months of lost rent renders the loss too remote, per H Parsons (Livestock) Ltd v
Uttley Ingham, the foreseeability of the extent of the harm is irrelevant where the type of harm was
foreseeable (as satisfied above). Thus, remoteness is likely satisfied.
E Assessment of damages
Can Jackson claim loss of bargain damages?
Loss of bargain damages are only recoverable where a contract can be terminated at common law:
Shevill v Builders Licensing Board ( Shevill ). At common law, the right to terminate may arise
when there is a breach of a condition a term so important the party would not have entered into the
contract without assurance of its strict performance: Luna Park (NSW) Ltd v Tramways
Advertising Pty Ltd.
This clause is likely to be construed as a condition given the contract is a lease agreement.

Essay about Brothers and Sister Maude Comparison
Brothers and Sister Maude comparison
Matthew Davis
Comparison between the range of emotions felt by the speaker in Sister Maude and Brothers .
In Both Sister Maude and Brother a range of language devices are used in order to portray the
different emotions and the varied relationships the poem focus on.
Both poems use structural elements in order to portray a certain effect on the reader and to make
them feel certain emotions just based on the way the poems are structured. In Sister Maude the
enjambment between each of the lines emphasises the jealousy of Maude herself and the
continuation of the jealousy she undergoes for her sisters lover. The Rhyme scheme could also
symbolise the continuation of the poem as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However Brother has a much more simpler meaning towards the reader as it is the emotion felt by
the younger brother as his older brother has left him while the younger brother went back to get
some bus fare. The brother cowardly says to his younger brother you should go and ask mum for
the bus fare as the brother does not want to confront him. The older brother thinks he is old enough
and mature enough to take his younger brother out and be trusted; this turns out to be a complete
juxtaposition to the reality and juxtaposition to the title as true brother are not ones that leave you
for a joke .
Guilt is a theme that occurs in both poems as the individual feels remorseful for what they ve
done. In Sister Maude the guilt is quite an obvious one; the guilt of Maude killing her sisters
lover out of jealousy. The hatred of Maude s sister is emphasised particularly in the last two
stanzas and most effectively in the last line; Bide you with death and sin. Even at the end of the
poem Maudes sister has not forgiven her and has no future plans of doing so due to the full stop
appearance at the end. This really cuts off the poem and the relationship between Maude and her
sister as a sister relationship is thought to be a loving and caring one which completely juxtaposes
the entirety of the poem. The guilt in Brothers is an obvious one

Raz On The Autonomy Of Legal Reasoning
The autonomous nature of legal reasoning is the subject of much contention amongst legal actors
and is understood to be restrictively in positivist Raz . In his paper On the Autonomy of Legal
Reasoning Raz asserts that legal reasoning reasoning according to law is an instance of moral
reasoning, that legal reasoning is not, in the strong sense, autonomous. This view is based on the
assumption that legal doctrines are only justified if they are morally justified. Below, follows an
appraisal of the various justifications of this assertion and a defence of Raz s position on the
autonomy of legal reasoning.
Legal positivism formulated by English jurist John Austin characterises the system of laws, the
existence of which, is dependent on social facts . Positivism accepts the Separation thesis that there
is no necessary connection between law and morality . To this end, it denies any necessary moral
criteria of legality . Furthermore, it does not necessarily accept that moral principles can directly
determine whether certain rules are valid law, as naturalism does . ... Show more content on

According to Raz, the former is underpinned by the Sources thesis which states that all law is
source based; that is, its existence and content can be determined by reference to social facts alone.
The latter is moral reasoning a conscious process that consists of transforming given information
about people , in this case a process of empirical analysis, moral reasoning, and deduction from
serious rules. Thus, it follows from his argument, that reasoning about or according to the law is an
occurrence of the transformation of given information about

Sydney Carton Hero
The ideas of heroism in a Victorian sense are very different than those ideas of a hero in Anglo
Saxon literature. The most obvious hero in A Tale of Two Cities is Sydney Carton, but he emerges
very differently than Beowulf. It was never clearly mentioned in the novel that Carton was a hero,
so Dickens expected the reader to infer that that was so. It also wasn t until book three that Carton
became a truly dynamic characterand ultimately became the herohe sought to be. Careless and
slovenly if not debauched (Dickens 55) was how Dickens described Carton s character in book
one. He is merely a man, and a flawed man at the beginning of the novel. Carton s imperfections
and impurities set the stage for his later actions that will prove him a hero and also... Show more

As Carton leaves, he murmurs a few significant words under his breath: A life you love (Dickens

place of Darnay, again, out of his love and compassion for Lucie. His final thoughts are some of
the most famous lines in the entire novel, It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever

destined for Sydney Carton. He has grown in courage and valor, from a drunk, dissatisfied, and

Gestational diabetes (also called gestational diabetes mellitus or GDM) is a kind of diabetes that
can happen during pregnancy.
Seven out of every 100 pregnant women (7 percent) develop gestational diabetes. It s a condition in
which your body has too much sugar (called glucose) in the blood.
Here are the top things you need to know about gestational diabetes:
Most pregnant women get a test for gestational diabetes at 24 to 28 weeks of pregnancy.
If untreated, gestational diabetes can cause problems for your baby, like premature birth and

Large babies are more likely to be obese or have diabetes later in life.
Stillbirth. This is when a baby dies in the womb after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Gestational diabetes also can cause health complications for your baby after birth, including

Similarities Between Dadaism And Internet Art
Art, quite simply, is a social force. It reflects on the feelings of people in society, whether
individually or as a whole. Usually art that vents the feelings of the artist occur around times or
events that evoke emotions powerful enough to provide a muse for artwork. Some art styles, such
as Dadaism and Internet Art, can directly tie their absurdist means to what was happening in that
time. But do the time periods in which those art styles were popular relate to the meaning behind
the art? The similarities between Dadaism and Internet/Postinternet art show the state of disarray
and lack of hope for the future that millennials have revived.
Dadaism
Dadaism is an art style defined as a form of artistic anarchy born out of disgust for the social,
political, and cultural values of the time. (Artyfactory). Pieces made in this style went against
almost all of the previously written rules of art, which earned it the title of anti art . Dada was
presented in many ways, the most well known being collages made on paper [Fig 1]. Another
popular presentation was photography, which was a relatively new concept at the time. These
photographs turned ordinary things into art by showcasing the abstractness of ordinary things as
seen through a lens. One of the most well known examples of Dada photography is Fountaine by
Marcel Duchamp [Fig. 2]. Technology was also a new concept that Dada creating artists used to
their advantage. Film and radio broadcasting were used as mediums, one

Montana 1948 Abusing Power
Montana 1948 by Larry Watson is a novel set during the time of post Second World War in the
rural town of Bentrock located in Mercer County, Montana USA. There are a series of events that
occur which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect
both individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community
abused their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one
of the many people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it. By sexually

that Wes learns that justice is more important in a society than loyalty. By believing in this, his
abuse of power has had lesser consequences but they are still significant in the novel. Wes is
responsible for the Frank s arrest which later on caused severe family tension. But the important
consequence is that Wes didn t going to treat his brother the same as any other criminal that he d

Essay The Effects of Concussions on Athletes
Recreational athletes, competitive athletes, high school athletes, college athletes, and professional
athletes all have one thing in common: the risk of a concussion. It s impossible to go a season
without one athlete from a team receiving a concussion. The more that these concussions are
studied, the more we learn about them, such as their detrimental effects on athletes. Because of the
risk of health issues and death that come with concussions, doctors, coaches, athletic trainers, and
lawmakers are stepping in to protect athletes of all levels from receiving concussions. Concussions
occur time after time throughout different sporting events and many are familiar with the word
concussion, but what really is a concussion?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concussions can truly mess with an athlete s brain and can give him or her lifelong troubles.
Many athletes of all ages and levels have had concussions that have affected their lives in
unbelievable ways. Kevin Turner, a former professional football player in the National Football
League, can certainly attest to this. Turner spent eight years playing professional football and
while playing, acquired the title Collision Expert . Many called him this because of the
countless deep notches he would receive in his football helmet during games. Since receiving
the title of Collision Expert , Turner has retired from the NFL and has had to deal with the
effects that have come along with those many notches in his helmet. Recently, Turner has been
diagnosed with a form of Lou Gehrig s disease. Scientists have studied Turner s case and from
research, they believe that his form of the disease is related to the many concussions and hard
hits he received during his career in the NFL. Now, Turner has a difficult time doing simple
tasks as his disease deteriorates his memory and health day by day. Turner has difficulty opening
cereal boxes and buttoning shirts and even requires the help of his wife and daughter to help him
get ready in the morning (Bartholet). Similarly to Kevin Turner s case, Briana Binowski, a 16
year old high school basketball player also knows how concussions can affect an individual s life.

Economic Benefits Of Fracking
Morse attempts to show the positives of fracking by citing economic benefits. One of his
purported benefits is that fracking will bolster employment by some three million jobs (Morse 3
7). Although this evidence is convincing, it relies on rosy estimates and ignores the potential loss
of jobs associated with fracking. Even Pennsylvania, a state that experiences one of the strongest
economic impacts of fracking, has not experienced such levels of growth and prosperity. Former
governor Tom Corbett campaigned on the fact that fracking supported 200,000 jobs, yet the
Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry reported ...just over 30,000 people were
employed by industries directly tied to the fracking boom in the third quarter of last year (Foran
7). The PDLI did also report the 200,000 figure as an expanded estimate; however, officials admit it
is mere guesswork.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The growth rate for these jobs is also rather slow. According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the
oil and gas industry has only added 23,500 jobs to Pennsylvania from 2002 to 2012.
Furthermore, fracking can be linked to job loss. When a commodity is in abundance, its price
goes down. Low prices may be beneficial to consumers, but when prices are too low, producers lose
revenue. This economic principle is particularly noticeable in the oil and gas industry.
Halliburton, an oil field services company who specializes in fracking, laid off 9,000 employees in
the first quarter of 2015 due to low oil prices ( Lower Oil Prices ). Although fracking may not have
been the direct cause of these low prices, it creates surges in oil and gas that cause similarly low

Execution of Project Through Generalization and...
Introduction:
Execution of the project:
Execution of the project (implementation phase of the project) proceeds on correct lines, the data
to be collected would be adequate and dependable. The researcher should see that the project is
executed in a systematic manner and in time. If the survey is to be conducted by structured
questionnaires, data can be readily machine processed. In such situation, questions as well as the
possible answers may be coded. If the data are to be collected through interviewers, arrangements
should be made for proper selection and training of the interviewers. Steps should be taken to ensure
that the survey is under statistical control, so that the collected information is in accordance with

A high budget research project might take a smaller sample from every school in the country; a
lower budget operation may have to concentrate upon one city or even a single school.
The key to generalization is to understand how much your results can be applied backwards to
represent the group of children, as a whole. The first example, using every school, would be a
strong representation, because the range and number of samples is high. Testing one school makes
generalization difficult and affects the external validity.
You might find that the individual school tested generates better results for children using that
particular educational program.
However, a school in the next town might contain children who do not like the system. The students
may be from a completely different socioeconomic background or culture. Critics of your results
will pounce upon such discrepancies and question your entire experimental design.
Most statistical tests contain an inbuilt mechanism to take into account sample sizes with larger
groups and numbers, leading to results that are more significant.
The problem is that they cannot distinguish the validity of the results, and determine whether your
generalization systems are correct. This is something that must be taken into account when
generating a hypothesis and designing the experiment.
The other option, if the sample groups are small, is to use proximal similarity and restrict your
generalization.

Internal Rhyme Scheme Of The Raven
The established works of literature in society today, allow for readers to develop their own unique
sense of interpretations of the deeper meanings of these texts. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, is a
piece that deals with the struggle of a loved one passing and the main character s internal and
mental struggle of dealing with this scenario. Whilst, sitting amongst his gloomy, dark chamber of
the hours of midnight the traumatized male is met by a dark raven, who of which is the responder
to his thoughts out loud of the attempt of forgetting about his love named Lenore. The raven, has
only yet to reply with a single phrase. This phrase is the statement of Nevermore , displayed

Within the text of The Raven, the tone of the scheme followed a underlying pattern relating
towards mourning and sadness. The pattern was kept flowing throughout the entirety of the poem.
Poe was able to master, through the use of literary devices, the ability to add, emotion, depth and
tone to this piece. The internal rhyme scheme creates a sense of anticipation and tension, which
plays into the external rhyme schemes as well. Lines crafted together reflect my formerly made
ideas relating towards the criticism, an example shows as the line states Once upon a midnight

to become more engaged with the words and helps them find a pattern. Poe s repetition of sound

Evaluation Research Design Literature
253 Chapter 6 Evaluation Research Design: Literature Reviews Synthesis Frequently a research
question or hypothesis can be answered through secondary research, i.e., a literature review or
synthesis. Both strategies requires the researcher to mine existing data sources; ―pull out‖
relevant data or information; summarize it; logically analyze and/or statistically treat it; and report
results. In many instances, the issue, problem, question, etc. which prompted the idea for an
evaluation study is resolved or answered by studying and reporting previous researchreports in the
literature or synthesizing, either logically, statistically, or both, data drawn from existing databases.

51). The meta analytical approach advocated by Glass (1976) includes the aggregation of
relevant findings from empirical studies as summarized by the effect size, as well as an analysis
of relevant variables which may operate on the dependent and/or independent variables of each
empirical study included in the analysis. Suri describes advantages of the meta analytic approach
over the traditional narrative review; these include: (1) identification of effects, (2) analysis of
operating moderating variables, (3) an explicit explanation and rationale for study inclusion
criteria, and (4) the methodological flexibility to include a large number of empirical studies. Suri
reports that criticisms include a tendency to over generalize findings, the potential to include
poorly designed empirical studies, overreliance on published juried research, and ignoring studies
where effect size isn t computed. D. Finally, Suri (2000) examines Slavin s (1986) best evidence

Descriptive Essay About The Sky
Life washes over those who expect it the least. One moment I was playing with the innocence of
time, then life came crashing in and destroyed everything. With water soaked clothes and tear
streaked cheeks, I returned home with the knowledge that life has no mercy. Life is not fair. Only
the sweet sting of reality to my beaten down ego was my companion.
Magnificent, heavenly light filters through the wispy clouds, signifying a new day. The thin clouds
slowly drift apart, presenting a beautiful sky beneath. Speaking out to me, the sky seems to know
every one of my thoughts, my dreams, my darkest fears. The sky is but a canvas of light, creating
a new picture within seconds. Weaving a story through the delicate clouds, the picture grows
beyond the expanse of sky. The colors splay before me, painfully beautiful and simple. Pink hues
morph into vibrant purples as they blend with the beautiful blues. The glittering stretch of sea
shines before my eyes. With every new wave, the light from above whispers promises of riches and
sparkling diamonds. The light breeze that kisses the sea sends the twinkling light back into the air
above.
The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting
seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet
smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the churning
water I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love

Slavery and the Life of Harriet Jacobs Essays
Slavery and the Life of Harriet Jacobs
It is well known that slavery was a horrible event in the history of the United States. However,
what isn t as well known is the actual severity of slavery. The experiences of slave women
presented by Angela Davis and the theories of black women presented by Patricia Hill Collins are
evident in the life of Harriet Jacobs and show the severity of slavery for black women.
The history of slave women offered by Davis suggests that compulsory labor overshadowed
every other aspect of women s existence (Davis 5). This is quite apparent through examination of
the life of Harriet Jacobs. All slaves were forced to do hard labor and were subject to cruel remarks

Collins points out that the relative security that often accompanied motherhood served to
reinforce its importance (Collins 51). This can also be seen in the life of Harriet Jacobs. The
treatment she received was relentless, unavoidable and in most cases unpredictable. She had to
sleep in fear of what her jealous mistress would do the next day and what her abusive master had
planned for the day to come. Harriet Jacobs did not feel safe with her master and avoided all
sexual encounters with him. Then, her master was going to have a house built for her to serve
as a sexual haven for them. Harriet Jacobs vowed before [her] Maker that [she] would never
enter [the house] (Jacobs 53) and [she] would do anything, everything, for the sake of defeating
[her master] (Jacobs 53) in his attempts to use her sexually. Then, Harriet Jacobs becomes
desperate to escape her master and chooses to have a child with a white man, Mr. Sands, for the
same security that Collins says : accompanied motherhood [and] served to reinforce its importance
(Collins 51). She did like Mr. Sands but admits that sexual relations with him would be inspired by

The Government Should Mandate Helmet Use for All Cyclists
Cuts, bruises and even broken bones will heal, but damage to your brain can last a lifetime. You
can prevent possible injuries from unforeseen disasters such as smacking the street, sidewalk,
curb, a car, tree or anything else around you by using safety precautions. In some cases, we are
required to use safety measures, while in others we are merely advised. For instance, while driving
an automobile, the law requires for all occupants in the vehicle to wear safety belts. The reason for
this law is because without using such cautiousness, fatal accidents would be more frequent. In the
same respects, safety should be required for bicycle and motorcycle riders. Various injuries... Show

Although you should take other safety measures when cycling, a helmet is by far the most important
and most effective piece of protective equipment a cyclist can wear. In the event of a traffic
accident, wearing a helmet saves lives by reducing the extent of a head injury because when you
fall or crash, your helmet absorbs much of the force of impact that would otherwise hurt your
head ( Helmet Use ). The thick plastic foam also know as firm polystyrene inside the hard outer
shell of your helmet, crushes to cushion the blow during an accident ( Motorcycle Accidents ).
The helmet takes the hit instead of your head. Each year, even minor bicycle and motorcycle
accidents kill hundreds of people in the United States and cause brain damage and other injuries
to more than half a million riders ( Why should we wear helmets? ).Buying a helmet is one of the
best investments a person can make. Bicycle shops and discount department stores offer many
models of helmets, priced around $20.00. Even with wide availability of inexpensive helmets and
proper information on how and why to use them, it is estimated that only approximately half of
over eighty million bike riders wear their helmet all the time ( Why should we wear helmets? ). As a
result of the diminutive amount of helmets worn in the United States, many accidents are fatal.
Each year, bike related crashes kill about nine hundred people and injure 567,000 others and an
average of 166,000 Americans are

A detachment of British troops sent to San Pedro was defeated by the Maya later that year. Early

Retirement Benefits And Benefits Of The Social Security...
Pensions are company sponsored funds aimed to provide a firm s employees income after
retirement but are not offered by all employers. With the uncertainty of the future of the Social
Security program in the United States and its inadequate benefits for many, a lot of people find
themselves having to rely on their own savings to prepare for income beyond retirement through
savings and retirement accounts such as 401(k)s and IRAs. In order to lessen the burden of finding
their own source of post retirement income, employees need to consider not only wages and other
current benefits when choosing between employment opportunities, but should also consider post
retirement benefits such as pensions and healthcare when calculating total compensation. From a
company s perspective, firm sponsored pension plans and other post retirement benefits are
additional ways to attract employees and retain them, reducing costs associated with turnover and
being able to keep talent within the company. In response to the implementation of post retirement

Identify The Four Major Landforms Of Europe
3. Identify the four main physical landforms of Europe. What are the main features of each? The
four major landforms of Europe include the Western Uplands, North European Plain, Central
Uplands and Alpine Mountains. These landforms are primarily arranged in bands that run from
east to west. Each landform provides a biodiversity and resources for humans. The Western
Uplands are formed of ancient rock that has been shaped by glaciation and shapes the north and
west coastline of Europe. It includes Spain, French Brittany, Scandinavia, and the British Isles. The
North European Plain is low and fertile and has rivers. It goes from southern Britain through the
middle of Europe to Russia. The Central Uplands are mostly wooded hills and highlands in France,
Belgium, southern Germany, and the Czech Republic. The Alpine Mountains have high mountain
peaks and active volcanoes that run from northern Spain across southern Europe to the Caucasus in
Russia. The High Alps range from eastern France to Slovenia and are central to the Alpine region.
Mountains act as a natural dividing range and can also isolate people and separate cultural groups.
The Central Uplands is the area bordering the main Alps to the north, which includes a significant
portion of southern Germany extending eastward. These foothills provide excellent farmland, and
there are major agricultural operations here. Western Highlands offer an area for grazing livestock
and farming in the meadows and valleys. The Scottish

The Relationship Between Nissan And Mitsubishi
Description of the Situation
One of the most spoken and discussed issues in the business world has become establishing the
association between the Nissan and Mitsubishi car producers. After the scandal that occurred as the
Mitsubishi falsified its fuel economy tests, the cooperation with Nissan is like a lifeline to the
company. Nissan s decision to buy an influential share of Mitsubishi s assets is believed to bring
benefits to both participants of the process. While this deal would help the Mitsubishi corporation
to improve its image after the cheating scandal, Nissan also expects to increase its profits by using
the recognizability of Mitsubishi s brand in the eastern countries. Under the conditions of growing
global competition in the automobile industry, the alliance between the large Japanese and
European car producers is supposed to radically strengthen the positions of both companies on the
market.
However, the formation of this alliance would not involve the complete merger of the companies.
Nissan shared information regarding taking a 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors , which would allow
Nissan to gain de facto control over the processes within Mitsubishi ( Nissan Is Buying ). With one
third of the assets, Nissan would become Mitsubishi s main investor. The Nissan company has an

In the context of growing competition in the automobile industry, understanding this concept is
essential for achieving success. With regard to the situation with Nissan and Mitsubishi, this
concept is presenting a significant basis for the companies to enter the alliance. They believe that
the union of the companies would help to overcome the ever growing competition on the market.
With respect to this, the situation with Mitsubishi is a great example of the realization of the
concept of competition and its impact on the achievement of the companies in the

Racial Discrimination And Its Effects On American Culture
If there is one thing I have noticed during my, admittedly, short sixteen years, it is the racial
discrimination and obvious bigotry of the those who are not white . Stereotypes and detrimental
comments are slung every which way. Others, rely on subtle jabs while some are oblivious to
the offense of the people they are around. It seems to me, that people do not seem to care. I have
listened to countless conversations where people would nonchalantly insult their own culture and
heritage as if they were being humorous. I have friends who would willingly describe themselves
as whitewashed. Washwashed: Used to cover up or gloss over faults, errors, or wrongdoings, or
absolve a wrongdoer from blame. It is interesting to say in the least. What are they saying that is
wrong? Are we wrong to have been forcefully and unknowingly assimilated into Western culture? I
have spent so much timelearning English from a young age that my competence with my mother
tongue is practically nonexistent. We live in a multicultural country, but Canada had only been
known for its hospitality and welcoming atmosphere for a couple of decades. Funny how many
ugly, bloody things can be quickly swept under the rug. The Komagata Maru is an excellent
example of racial discrimination, as well as the many residential schools that wrecked abuse and
havoc upon so many Native families. On a short term mission s trip this summer, we were invited
by a First Nations reserve on Vancouver Island to help run a

Usefulness and Reliability of Information Provided By...
An ongoing concern in financial reporting is the usefulness and reliability of information provided
by corporations. The financial accounting standard board defines usefulness as the information that
is useful for the users in decision making (FASB, 2011). Reliability is inferred when the information
is verified, objective, and can be relied on. Therefore, Statement of Financial Accounting Standards
No. 157 standardizes the valuationand disclosure of fair valuefor assets and liabilities in order to
achieve both usefulness and reliability. The reasoning for the hierarchy was due to the
inconsistency in previous definitions and guidance (FASB, 1992).
Introduction to Fair Value Hierarchy
To begin, SFAS defines fair value as the value... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
SFAS Relating to the Conceptual Framework
The framework for measuring fair value is easy to understand and follow, and relates to the
conceptual framework. As stated earlier the preferred measure of fair value is the market
approach, because the prices are observable. For this reason the standard recognizes the need for
relevant, reliable, and comparable information in order for users to make better decisions about the
current financial position of a company. Financial readers are aware of the valuing measurement
used to calculate the fair value, whether the measurement were derived from an observable or
unobservable input. The measurement establishes the existence of reliable and relevance
qualitative factors that make accounting information useful for decision making (Barbera, 2007).
If it were observable then the value derived can be researched and verified. However, if it were
unobservable then the user must read the disclosures which will be discussed later in the research
paper, and determine the reliability of the internally generated measurement. In return it can be
understood that the level 1 inputs are more reliable and relevant than the other two levels.
In addition, the fair value hierarchy also enhances the comparability and consistency of information
among companies due to following practices: all companies must

Semiquinone Radicals
Reduction of an electron from ring C in ANT causes to formation of free radical semiquinone.
This radical is partly stable in anoxic environment but under normoxic condition, its unpaired
electron is given to oxygen and superoxide radicals are formed. Appropriate flavoproteins such as
complex I catalyses reduced semiquinone radicals by accepting electrons from NADH or NADPH
and delivering them to ANT. This sequence of reactions are known as redoxcycling that can be
very deterious (dangerous) because low amount of ANT is adequate for formation of many
superoxide radicals (67). This radical damage triggers production of highly toxic aldehydes such as
malondialdehyde (MAD). These aldehydes can diffuse easily in the cell and even from cell
membrane

Examples Of Alienation In The Thin Red Line
For instance in James Jones s novel The Thin Red Line (1962), the inhuman and brutal acts , such
as the disinterring of a Japanese corpse for fun, the extraction of their corpses gold teeth, and the
summary execution of Japanese prisoners, all of these explore the idea that each soldier suffers
the emotional and physical predicament of war by himself. However, some readers will be grateful
to an author who has honestly attempted to tell the truth in his own artistic way. One such person
was Romain Gary who expressed his appreciation of the novelin his April 22, 1962, letter to Jones.
The Thin Red Line, the line between man and beast, so easily crossed, is a realistic fable,
symbolic without symbols, mythological and yet completely factual, a sort of Moby Dick without
the white whale, deeply philosophical without any philosophizing whatsoever. . . . The book
belongs to that vein of poetical realism which is the rarest and to me the most precious thing in the
whole history of the novel , it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wright has exposed the human predicaments of his individualism through his characters with
their sufferings that they underwent due to their color, as well as he exposed the reality by
bringing out the hidden pain of the blacks. The effects of alienation in a society can be noted
through the novels of Wright such as, Black Boy and Native Son. In the novel Black Boy,
Richard Wright had a constant feeling of alienation. Richard expresses his physical or emotional
hunger, his disagreements with injustice, or his unwillingness to conform, he always felt this way.
Racism plays a strong role in Wright s Black Boy, due to the fact that this thought was very
popular in this time period. Richard struggled to liberate himself from the alienation of white
people and the working system because it was strongly looked down upon by whites and

A Letter From Birmingham Jail Analysis
Birmingham, Alabama during the 1960 s was experiencing a time of high racial tension and
injustice for African Americans. Blacks were only allowed to sit in specific areas in buses and
restaurants, and they had separate water fountains, churches, schools, and other public gathering
areas. In 1963, the African Americandemonstrators began sitting in at lunch counters that had not
served blacks before and picketed stores that did not allow blacks to shop in them. Soon after,
African Americans began getting arrested for trespassing. The civil rights leaders applied for
permits to picket and parade but were denied, and this sparked the thought that the law prohibiting
African Americans to picket and parade was unjust and they decided to disobey it. This led to
certain opinions about the Civil Rights Movement to arise and become public. Eight Alabama white
clergymen, who represented various churches, wrote A Call for Unity: A Letter from Eight White
Clergymen in response to the protests that had broken out across Birmingham ( Unity ). Martin
Luther King Jr. was arrested and sent to jail in 1963 because he and others were protesting the
treatment of African Americans. He went on to write A Letter from Birmingham Jail
as he waited,
hunched over, in his jail cell ( Birmingham ). Both the clergymen and Dr. King used the art of
argument to try to persuade people to believe their views on the issue. Unity and Birmingham are
fitting examples of how writers with very different

Cost Allocation
Cost Allocation
ACC/561
April 23, 2012
Cost Allocation
The purpose of cost allocation is to identify and correctly allocate costs associated with a job,
product, or service. The main uses of cost allocation are to facilitate decision making regarding
costs, justify prices charged for products and services, cost control, and for optimal utilization of
resources. There are several methods used for cost allocation, depending on the type of product or
service offer by the company.
Variable cost allocation includes only variable manufacturing costs, such as direct materials, direct
labor, and variable manufacturing overhead. Absorption cost allocation includes manufacturing
costs, including both variable and fixed overhead as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Step method of cost allocation, allocates costs between service departments in steps, starting
with the service department that provides the most service to the other service departments. After
this allocation takes place, the next step in the process allocates costs to the department that
provides the next most service. This keeps stepping down until all costs have been allocated
between service departments (Accounting For Management, 2012).
The Reciprocal method of allocating costs takes into account all activity between both
interdepartmental service departments and operational departments. For instance, the custodial
department services both the mail room and the manufacturing department. The cost of the portion
of custodial service provided to the mailroom would be allocated directly to the mailing
department, and cost of the portion of custodial service provided to the manufacturing department
would be allocated directly to the manufacturing department. Unlike the step method that only
allocates forward from the service departments providing the most service to those providing least,
the reciprocal method can work backward. At the same time costs of the custodial department are
being allocated to the mail room (because of the mail room being cleaned), the mail room will
allocate costs to the custodial department for the mail that needs to be picked up and delivered
there. Thus, reciprocal activity is

This also leaves chains such as KFC being the late majority and late adopters when placed in to
the diffusion of innovation model as I did with Subway, since most of the day to day business
situations can be seen by franchisees who are very hands on KFC have put them self at a loss by
not listening to their franchisees. Being the late majority and late adopters they represent a group
which are slower and more content to see how the market develops, they want more reassurance
about the benefits and worth of making changes, they can in some cases be very averse to change
and have therefore resisted adopting new techniques in marketing, promotion and development. On
the flip side KFC s more sceptical out look has allowed them to maintain their market position, by
being more traditional in their approach they don t stand risking failure and financial losses which
can sometimes occur from innovation when a lot is invested on research of development which don
t then translate in to profits for the chain.

Stigma And Disidentifiers
There are three main categories of stigma: physical disfigurements, individual character flaw, and
membership in a tainted group. A tainted group includes a particular race, ethnicity or religion. In
the modern times, people with STDs, pregnant teenagers and people with disabilities are also
tainted groups. People who belong in a stigmatized group and has a stigmatized identity falls
either into two groups: the discreditable or the discredited . Discreditable individuals include
people who have deviant characteristics that they are able to hide such as sexual fetishes. On the
other hand, the discredited includes people who have revealed or unconcealed stigma such as

  • 2. George Washington s Farewell Address In George Washington s Farewell Address, Washington warns against the dangers of political factions by stating, it occurs as matter of serious concern that any ground should have been furnished for characterizing parties by geographical discriminations, Northern and Southern, Atlantic and Western; whence designing men may endeavor to excite a belief that there is a real difference of local interests and views (Washington). However, despite American leaders such as George Washington and James Madison warning of factionalism, the country would be divided by political parties arising out of the Northern and Southern states of the union. By the time Walt Whitmanwrote Songs of Myself in 1855, tensions in the United Statescreated by factionalism were at a high and were constantly elevating. In writing Songs of Myself , Whitman sought to help mend some of the wounds created by factionalism by seeking to bring together Americans whom factionalism had rendered alien to one another and by teaching to believe in oneself rather than the beliefs of political parties. When Washington wrote his Farewell Address, he had already made the decision to retire from his job as president and return to his home on Mount Vernon. No longer was he concerned with making a future for the country. Instead he was concerned with offering the parting advice of an old and affectionate friend . Washington offered his advice on a number of different topics, but the most relevant topic to politics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether with religious or secular intentions when an area is colonized the conquered people lose their homes, livelihood, and quite often their culture. Even then the conquering nation is still maintaining power through force rather than any allegiance on the part of the conquered. The premonition that colonization could in anyway resemble something moral is a delusion. One example of immorality is in the secular colonies. However since the regulation has been in place it has failed to provide the security necessary to protect U.S. critical infrastructure from a cyber attack. Even Congress has been slow to act regarding almost all aspects of cyber policy (Wolf, J. 12 July, 2012). One of the problems facing a comprehensive cyber security bill is that computers have become so omnipresent in our daily lives that they cross every sector of the economy. It is not surprising that application of the laws of war to cyber attacks has recently been a popular topic in politics. Some have even analyzed whether a cyber attack can constitute an armed attack, it can but, whether a cyber attack with a specified effect constitutes a use of force. An example, if the U.S. could prove that Iran absolute sent a computer virus that infected a Wall Street, would dropping a bomb on Iran be justify? A responsible nation must always consider the possibilities of collateral damage in deciding whether an act of self defense is justified, be it cyber or kinetic. While the United States must undoubtedly increase its cyber defense capabilities, the nation cannot retreat behind a Line of firewalls. When kindness, of respected veterans. I also think of when/everyone has the same level of respect. Also when there is shelter for all the homeless or somewhere for them to go. This is what I believe America should be like and what it is to me. When veterans are respected they know that everyone are about them. I also think of them being able to have more respect than we do because they risked their lives just for us. Plus, veterans should have equal rights. But most importantly they should be able to go somewhere and have no one look down on them. In my mind veterans should be respected no matter what. There should also be ... It s a $27.5 billion industry, but the modern video gameindustry had a humble beginning. (CNBC, 1). The video game industry was thought up by an engineer named Ralph Baer in 1966. Why Jackson May Recover Contract Damages I PART A Is Jackson able to recover by way of damages; the students profits made on Airbandb; and the loss for the three months rent before 1 December? To show that Jackson may recover contract damages, the following elements must be considered: 1.Breach 2.Loss 3.Causation 4.Remoteness 5.Assessment of damages A Breach To claim damages, Jackson must establish breached of contract. The contract prohibits the students from sub letting the property without Jackson s express permission. Without his knowledge, they sub let the house on Airbandb, thereby constituting breach. B Loss Jackson has lost the profit from three months rent before 1 December. C Causation Did students breach cause Jackson to lose rent profits for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Per Hadley v Baxendale remoteness is satisfied where the damage either: (a)arose naturally according to the usual course of things, from the breach; or (b)may reasonably be supposed to have been in the contemplation of both parties at the time they made the contract, as a probable result of the breach. Applying the first limb, the students were presumably aware that subletting was a serious possibility in termination and loss of future rent payments (until a new tenant was found), thus rendering the loss reasonably foreseeable . While the students may argue that the extent of the loss as a full three months of lost rent renders the loss too remote, per H Parsons (Livestock) Ltd v Uttley Ingham, the foreseeability of the extent of the harm is irrelevant where the type of harm was foreseeable (as satisfied above). Thus, remoteness is likely satisfied. E Assessment of damages Can Jackson claim loss of bargain damages? Loss of bargain damages are only recoverable where a contract can be terminated at common law:

  • 14. Essay about Brothers and Sister Maude Comparison Brothers and Sister Maude comparison Matthew Davis Comparison between the range of emotions felt by the speaker in Sister Maude and Brothers . In Both Sister Maude and Brother a range of language devices are used in order to portray the different emotions and the varied relationships the poem focus on. Both poems use structural elements in order to portray a certain effect on the reader and to make them feel certain emotions just based on the way the poems are structured. In Sister Maude the enjambment between each of the lines emphasises the jealousy of Maude herself and the continuation of the jealousy she undergoes for her sisters lover. The Rhyme scheme could also symbolise the continuation of the poem as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However Brother has a much more simpler meaning towards the reader as it is the emotion felt by the younger brother as his older brother has left him while the younger brother went back to get some bus fare. The brother cowardly says to his younger brother you should go and ask mum for the bus fare as the brother does not want to confront him. The older brother thinks he is old enough and mature enough to take his younger brother out and be trusted; this turns out to be a complete juxtaposition to the reality and juxtaposition to the title as true brother are not ones that leave you for a joke . Guilt is a theme that occurs in both poems as the individual feels remorseful for what they ve done. In Sister Maude the guilt is quite an obvious one; the guilt of Maude killing her sisters lover out of jealousy. The hatred of Maude s sister is emphasised particularly in the last two stanzas and most effectively in the last line; Bide you with death and sin. Even at the end of the poem Maudes sister has not forgiven her and has no future plans of doing so due to the full stop appearance at the end. This really cuts off the poem and the relationship between Maude and her sister as a sister relationship is thought to be a loving and caring one which completely juxtaposes the entirety of the poem. The guilt in Brothers is an obvious one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Raz On The Autonomy Of Legal Reasoning The autonomous nature of legal reasoning is the subject of much contention amongst legal actors and is understood to be restrictively in positivist Raz . In his paper On the Autonomy of Legal Reasoning Raz asserts that legal reasoning reasoning according to law is an instance of moral reasoning, that legal reasoning is not, in the strong sense, autonomous. This view is based on the assumption that legal doctrines are only justified if they are morally justified. Below, follows an appraisal of the various justifications of this assertion and a defence of Raz s position on the autonomy of legal reasoning. Legal positivism formulated by English jurist John Austin characterises the system of laws, the existence of which, is dependent on social facts . Positivism accepts the Separation thesis that there is no necessary connection between law and morality . To this end, it denies any necessary moral criteria of legality . Furthermore, it does not necessarily accept that moral principles can directly determine whether certain rules are valid law, as naturalism does . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most obvious hero in A Tale of Two Cities is Sydney Carton, but he emerges very differently than Beowulf. It was never clearly mentioned in the novel that Carton was a hero, so Dickens expected the reader to infer that that was so. A high budget research project might take a smaller sample from every school in the country; a lower budget operation may have to concentrate upon one city or even a single school. The key to generalization is to understand how much your results can be applied backwards to represent the group of children, as a whole. The first example, using every school, would be a strong representation, because the range and number of samples is high. Testing one school makes generalization difficult and affects the external validity. You might find that the individual school tested generates better results for children using that particular educational program. However, a school in the next town might contain children who do not like the system. The students may be from a completely different socioeconomic background or culture. Critics of your results will pounce upon such discrepancies and question your entire experimental design. Most statistical tests contain an inbuilt mechanism to take into account sample sizes with larger groups and numbers, leading to results that are more significant. The problem is that they cannot distinguish the validity of the results, and determine whether your generalization systems are correct. This is something that must be taken into account when generating a hypothesis and designing the experiment. The other option, if the sample groups are small, is to use proximal similarity and restrict your generalization. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Government Should Mandate Helmet Use for All Cyclists Cuts, bruises and even broken bones will heal, but damage to your brain can last a lifetime. You can prevent possible injuries from unforeseen disasters such as smacking the street, sidewalk, curb, a car, tree or anything else around you by using safety precautions. In some cases, we are required to use safety measures, while in others we are merely advised. For instance, while driving an automobile, the law requires for all occupants in the vehicle to wear safety belts. The reason for this law is because without using such cautiousness, fatal accidents would be more frequent. In the same respects, safety should be required for bicycle and motorcycle riders. Although you should take other safety measures when cycling, a helmet is by far the most important and most effective piece of protective equipment a cyclist can wear. In the event of a traffic accident, wearing a helmet saves lives by reducing the extent of a head injury because when you fall or crash, your helmet absorbs much of the force of impact that would otherwise hurt your head ( Helmet Use ). The thick plastic foam also know as firm polystyrene inside the hard outer shell of your helmet, crushes to cushion the blow during an accident ( Motorcycle Accidents ). The helmet takes the hit instead of your head. Each year, even minor bicycle and motorcycle accidents kill hundreds of people in the United States and cause brain damage and other injuries to more than half a million riders ( Why should we wear helmets? ).Buying a helmet is one of the best investments a person can make. Bicycle shops and discount department stores offer many models of helmets, priced around $20.00. Even with wide availability of inexpensive helmets and proper information on how and why to use them, it is estimated that only approximately half of over eighty million bike riders wear their helmet all the time ( Why should we wear helmets? ). As a result of the diminutive amount of helmets worn in the United States, many accidents are fatal. Piracy in the Age of Sails has set an image for what a pirate truly is. The collective perception of a pirate of old makes fondness for the modern pirate virtually unheard of, as they have become an excellent subject for entertainment and bring joy to many with modern interpretations of adventures undertaken by the buccaneers. With the uncertainty of the future of the Social Security program in the United States and its inadequate benefits for many, a lot of people find themselves having to rely on their own savings to prepare for income beyond retirement through savings and retirement accounts such as 401(k)s and IRAs. In order to lessen the burden of finding their own source of post retirement income, employees need to consider not only wages and other current benefits when choosing between employment opportunities, but should also consider post retirement benefits such as pensions and healthcare when calculating total compensation. From a company s perspective, firm sponsored pension plans and other post retirement benefits are additional ways to attract employees and retain them, reducing costs associated with turnover and being able to keep talent within the company. In response to the implementation of post retirement benefit plans, standards were established outlining the guidelines for accounting in US GAAP and IFRS. Each landform provides a biodiversity and resources for humans. The Western Uplands are formed of ancient rock that has been shaped by glaciation and shapes the north and west coastline of Europe. The Relationship Between Nissan And Mitsubishi Description of the Situation One of the most spoken and discussed issues in the business world has become establishing the association between the Nissan and Mitsubishi car producers. After the scandal that occurred as the Mitsubishi falsified its fuel economy tests, the cooperation with Nissan is like a lifeline to the company. Nissan s decision to buy an influential share of Mitsubishi s assets is believed to bring benefits to both participants of the process. While this deal would help the Mitsubishi corporation to improve its image after the cheating scandal, Nissan also expects to increase its profits by using the recognizability of Mitsubishi s brand in the eastern countries. Under the conditions of growing global competition in the automobile industry, the alliance between the large Japanese and European car producers is supposed to radically strengthen the positions of both companies on the market. • 42. Usefulness and Reliability of Information Provided By... An ongoing concern in financial reporting is the usefulness and reliability of information provided by corporations. The financial accounting standard board defines usefulness as the information that is useful for the users in decision making (FASB, 2011). Reliability is inferred when the information is verified, objective, and can be relied on. Therefore, Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 157 standardizes the valuationand disclosure of fair valuefor assets and liabilities in order to achieve both usefulness and reliability. The reasoning for the hierarchy was due to the inconsistency in previous definitions and guidance (FASB, 1992). Introduction to Fair Value Hierarchy To begin, SFAS defines fair value as the value... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SFAS Relating to the Conceptual Framework The framework for measuring fair value is easy to understand and follow, and relates to the conceptual framework. As stated earlier the preferred measure of fair value is the market approach, because the prices are observable. For this reason the standard recognizes the need for relevant, reliable, and comparable information in order for users to make better decisions about the current financial position of a company. Financial readers are aware of the valuing measurement used to calculate the fair value, whether the measurement were derived from an observable or unobservable input. The measurement establishes the existence of reliable and relevance qualitative factors that make accounting information useful for decision making (Barbera, 2007). If it were observable then the value derived can be researched and verified. However, if it were unobservable then the user must read the disclosures which will be discussed later in the research paper, and determine the reliability of the internally generated measurement. In return it can be understood that the level 1 inputs are more reliable and relevant than the other two levels. In addition, the fair value hierarchy also enhances the comparability and consistency of information among companies due to following practices: all companies must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blacks were only allowed to sit in specific areas in buses and restaurants, and they had separate water fountains, churches, schools, and other public gathering areas. In 1963, the African Americandemonstrators began sitting in at lunch counters that had not served blacks before and picketed stores that did not allow blacks to shop in them. Soon after, African Americans began getting arrested for trespassing. The civil rights leaders applied for permits to picket and parade but were denied, and this sparked the thought that the law prohibiting African Americans to picket and parade was unjust and they decided to disobey it. After this allocation takes place, the next step in the process allocates costs to the department that provides the next most service. This keeps stepping down until all costs have been allocated between service departments (Accounting For Management, 2012). The Reciprocal method of allocating costs takes into account all activity between both interdepartmental service departments and operational departments. For instance, the custodial department services both the mail room and the manufacturing department. The cost of the portion of custodial service provided to the mailroom would be allocated directly to the mailing department, and cost of the portion of custodial service provided to the manufacturing department would be allocated directly to the manufacturing department. Unlike the step method that only allocates forward from the service departments providing the most service to those providing least, the reciprocal method can work backward.
