Energy is the ability to do work or cause change. It exists in many forms including kinetic, potential, thermal, electrical, chemical, nuclear, and gravitational. Kinetic energy is energy in motion like moving water or wind, while potential energy is stored energy like the energy stored in oil or water at high elevations. Energy can never be created or destroyed according to the law of conservation of energy, and most of our energy originally comes from the sun.

Energy is the abilty to do work,or the ability to
elicit change in matter.Energy has a few important
properties . Energy is always “conserved”- it cannot
be created or destroyed.
WHAT IS ENERGY?
3.
Energy comes from different sources such as
oil, coal, wind, the sun, water, natural gas and even manure,
but most of our energy comes originally from the sun.
Energy can be found in many things and takes many
forms.
The enrgy we encounter and use everyday has always
been with us sincce the begining of the universe and
always will be with us.It just changes from all around
us.That is called the law of conservation of energy.
WHERE DOES ENERGY
COME FROM ?
5.
The two main types of energy are: kinetic energy and
potential energy.
Kinetic energy:It is energy that is in motion. Moving
water and wind are good examples of kinetic energy.
Examples of kinetic energy are:
Light or radiant energy is the energy transmitted by
electromagnetic radiation. Light is one type of
electromagnetic radiation. Some other kinds of
electromagnetic radiation include X-rays, radio waves,
and microwaves. Radiant energy travels in waves.
TYPES OF ENERGY
6.
Heat or thermal energy: Matter is made up of
particles or molecules. These molecules move (or
vibrate) constantly. A rise in the temperature of
matter makes the particles vibrate faster. Thermal
energy is what we call energy that comes from the
temperature of matter. The hotter the substance, the
more its molecules vibrate, and the therefore the
higher its thermal energy.
Electrical energy is generated by the movement of
electrons. Electricity creates motion, light or heat.
7.
Potential energy Energy is measured in the amount
of "work" it does. Potential Energy is stored energy.
Examples of potential energy are oil sitting in a
barrel, or water in a lake in the mountains. This
energy is referred to as potential energy, because if it
were released, it would do a lot of work.:
Examples of potential energy are:
8.
Mechanical Energy is the energy possessed by an
object due to its motion or its position.
Chemical Energy comes from atoms and molecules
and how they interact.
Nuclear energy: Huge amounts of nuclear energy can
be generated by splitting atoms.
9.
Gravitational Energy is motion that is caused by
gravity. Large objects such as the Earth and the Sun
create gravity.
