The Results of this question
asked to 30 people shows that the
majority of people asked are of
ages 16-18, with 24 people fitting
into that age group. Second to
that by quite a large margin is 13
to 15 year olds with 4 people in
that group, then 10 to 12 year
olds and ‘others’ with only one
person each. Since we’re in a
school this questions answers
very efficiently covered all
possible age groups, even with
the ‘other’ age just in case a
teacher or other person was
involved in the questionnaire
conducting, which they were.
From these results we can
conclude that our audience is
mostly 16 to 18 year olds, and so
our video should appeal mostly to
that group, with more mature
themes to the narrative. This also
allows for us to create a more
sophisticated narrative that 16 to
18 year olds would understand,
but others younger may not.

Regularly (at least 4 times a week)

Don’t listen to music
These results show that the
majority of our audience listen to
music ‘sometimes’ (more than
twice but less than 4 times a
week’. This was followed by
‘Everyday without fail’, then a
drawn ‘once a week’ and
‘Regularly’ (At least 4 times a
week). The least answered group
was ‘Don’t listen to music’ with
only 1 person fitting into that
category. This question was hard
to give answers too, looking back
at it, since the ‘Sometimes’
option and ‘Regularly’ don’t
work well when trying to say
how often you listen to music, as
does ‘Once a Week’. This
questions answers were flawed in
many ways.
From these results we can conclude
that our audience are regular
listeners of music, and are likely to
be listening to songs on a daily basis
whenever they can. Because of this
we need to make our music video
interesting and engaging in order
for our audience to be able to enjoy
watching it multiple times without
losing interest.
4. “What Is Your Favourite
Genre?”
Looking at these results its
clear that Pop is the more
popular genre, with 14 people
answering with that genre. The
least popular genre was Band
music, possibly because the
question didn’t phrase that
category specifically enough
since there are multiple types
of ‘Band’ music, including
Pop. Grime was second most
popular with 6 people voting
that answer, then R&B, with 5,
then House with 3. This
question wasn’t too well
phrased, as there are a lot
more genres people may enjoy
so this small selection may not
allow for truthful answers.

From these results we can conclude
that the most popular genre of
music to our audience on average
is Pop, possibly because of the more
upbeat theme the genre usually
follows. Because of this, we will
have to ensure that our music video
is upbeat and enjoyable, like a pop
video in order to satisfy our
audience visually and audibly.
5. What Is Your Favourite Song From That
Genre?”
This Questions Results show
that the most popular song
from the Pop genre is ‘Love
Yourself’ by Justin Bieber,
with 4 people voting for that
song. This is followed by
Uptown Funk with 3 votes,
then Cake by the Ocean, Send
my Love and Hello with 2
votes, then We don’t talk
anymore with just 1. This
question was open and
allowed for people to
contribute their own answers,
giving us a more honest group
of answers.

From these results we can conclude that
‘Love Yourself’ is the most popular Pop
song at the moment. This could be down
to many reasons, including the music
video and the story it tells, or the
message the song actually tells. If the
song is popular because of these
possibilities, we should make sure our
music videos narrative is clear and
enjoyable for the audience to watch as it
is told.

“What do you find most important in a
song?
This Questions Results show
the people we questioned
found a good tune the most
important part of a song,
closely followed by Lyrical
focus. Good vocals was voted
for by 7 people, and 3 people
came out with other answers,
along the lines of catchy tunes
or certain artists involvement
in a song (Feat. Songs.)
From these results we can conclude that
the most important part of a song is the
actual musical element. Because of this
we must make sure we pick a song that
people like, that has a good tune/ beat,
in order to keep the audience
entertained through the video.

“What do you find most important in a
music video?
This Questions Results show
the people we questioned
found that focus on the artist
was most important in a video,
followed by quite far, Strong
narrative. After that, focus on
dance follows, then visual
focus is less important, with
the view that how the actual
video looks isn't as important
as other parts.
From these results we can conclude that
the most important part of a Music
Video is Focus on the artist. Because of
this we have to make sure there are
plenty of shots of the main singer, as
well as having a narrative alongside
these artist shots.

“Which of these ideas do you think is
the best for a video narrative?”
This Questions Results show
the people we questioned
thought the best song for a
video narrative was ‘Settle
Down’ by the 1975. this was
followed by ‘Kiss Me’ by Olly
Murs’, then The Scripts
‘Superheroes’, then gnash's ‘I
Hate You I Love You’From these results we can conclude that
the best song for creating a narrative
out of the choices is ‘Settle Down’,
which is why we will be using this as our
videos song as we think the narrative
will come easiest with this song.

“What would you do to improve the idea
you chose?”
This Questions Results show
the ideas people suggested on
how to improve the idea they
chose, with most answers
referring to small changes in
the songs narrative, followed
by suggesting no changes at
all, then Changing the
Narrative completely, then
with only one person
suggesting it, changing the
song completely.
From these results we found out a lot
about peoples views on our idea, as well
as gaining plenty of ideas from others
for improvements on our videos
narrative, some of which we will
incorporate into the actual video.
