2. 180 degree rule
• The 180 degree rule states that the
camera should stay on the same
side of an imaginary line and not to
cross that line.
• The point in having this rule is to
enforce continuity in the film.
• An example is, a car is coming from
the left in one scene, the next shot
must show that the car is still
entering the frame from the same
place, the left. If this rule is broken
then the audience will get confused
especially in chase scenes, in
conversations or sports.
3. Match on Action
• A match on action shot is sometimes
known as a cutting on action shot.
• It is where the editor would cut from
one view of the action to another that
matches the first shot.
• An example that we plan to include in
our video is when the protagonist
opens the door, but we will have an
over the shoulder shot of the
protagonist opening the door but as
the door clicks we will switch to a
medium shot and we will time it so
that the click of the door fits perfectly.
4. Shot-Reverse-Shot
• A shot reverse shot is a technique
that shows a character looking at
another character.
• The next shot would be the other
character looking back at the first
character.
• This is usually used in
conversations and we plan to use
it in our video.
