Female
We gave the questionnaires out to more
females purposefully as we believe that
although the target audience is both male and
female, the music video would relate more so
with females as it is centred around the main
female protagonist being dumped by her

partner consequently having fun with her
friends to relieve herself from the pain.
Therefore we were able to specifically target
our audience and get the response directly
from the type of people who would relate and
prefer our music video. However we gave the
questionnaires to both genders to gain a
variety of results. This helped show which genre
liked what so we could adapt our target
audience to the results. It was determined that
both males and females liked our music video
concept.

As we were aware of our target audience
being adolescents and young adults this is
were we wanted to get feedback from.
Therefore the majority of the audience for
our questionnaires were teenagers and
young adults and would give us insight into
what was appropriate, popular and so on.
We also gave a questionnaire to a couple
of people who were 23 years old and more
as we found that our music video would
benefit from their ideas whilst giving us
variation. We also believe that our music
video may be able to appeal to some of
the people from this category. From the
results we found this to be true.
4. The results of our questionnaire was pleasing as it was revealed that the
genre of music Pop was the most liked which was positive as Icona Pop’s
song ‘I Love It’ falls under this. Although it also falls into the Dance genre
which is shown to not be as popular therefore we concluded that within
our music video we would include less conventions from a dance music
video and more pop.

For this question we gave a wide range of the most famous artists who have
very unique music videos. As we had taken inspiration from music videos
such as PSY we believe that our music video will be popular as he has been
given high praise. Other artists that had high ratings were Lady Gaga, Katy
Perry, Miley Cyrus and Kesha to name a few therefore we hope to look in
more detail at these music videos searching for ideas and aspects we could
include within our own music video but want to maintain our own style also.
This would ensure that our video will be popular with our target audience.

These results have shown my group and I that we should include some
type of special effects as it is very popular. The slow motion, fast forward
and split screen are the most appealing and so we hope to include this
within our music video. We believe that we can incorporate the split
screens during lip singing which would make it more professional and
interesting.

The results from the question do you like a storyline/plot has given us
confidence in including one, as it has proved to be very popular.
Therefore we will try to highlight our storyline clearly and effectively
throughout.

These props will enhance the appeal of our music video
whilst being quite easy to achieve. We will definitely be
including the neon face paint and will try to utilise the
other suggestions made also.

10. Do you like the ending idea where the boy is
asking for the protagonist back but she refuses
him? Do you like the comical aspect?

The results for this question has confirmed
that our original idea for the ending is
appealing to the majority of our target
audience. Therefore we will include this
within our music video. However as there is
quite a large percentage of No responses we
will seek to incorporate some of the other
aspects rated highly from the results of these
target audience questionnaires. The idea of
girl power is strongly liked among our target
audience and therefore this will feature
within our music video for the song ‘I Love It’
by Icona Pop. Also to appeal to most we will
ensure that the scenes for this ending will not
be too long.
11. Do you like the idea of an inclusion of a
montage with quick edits?
The inclusion of montages with quick edits has
proved to be very popular with our target
audience which we found helpful as we hope
to include this idea throughout our music
video, as it suits the genre of the music. The
montage will convey different exciting
locations and activities which will highlight the
idea of the three main protagonists having fun
without a boy. It would also relate to the fast
pace of the music whilst emphasising the care
free, fun atmosphere.

12. The responses from the target audience questionnaire
have been extremely useful in securing our ideas
and giving us confidence that we will use certain
aspects within our music video. It has also warned us
away from ideas which have been found to be
unpopular with our target audience and so we have
either abandoned these ideas or will place little
importance on them. The results from the
questionnaire has given us valuable insight as to what
our target audience likes and dislikes to find in a
music video thus it would greatly improve our
product whilst saving time and effort on themes that
wouldn’t have been successful.
