results that I received from my
questionnaires about the age of those
who I asked. The biggest feedback I
received was from those aged 16
which shows that my magazine needs
to be appealing to those in that age
group. However, I did still receive
answers from those who are older than
16 and are above the age of 20. This
also shows me that I need to reach out
to an audience that is above the age
of 20 to make all ages want to buy my
magazine.

This bar chart showcases my
results about gender. This is
an important question as it
gives me an insight into what
gender is more likely to buy
my magazine which in this
case is the female race.
However I do believe that if I
was to send a questionnaire
round again then I should ask
more males to give me more
of a wider idea on who will
buy the magazine.
4. Do you listen to music often?
YES NO
YES 100%
For this question, every person that I asked
all responded with a yes to listening to
music which shows me that because my
magazine will be a music magazine it will
be a great product on the market as a lot
of people listen to music so they will want
to buy a music magazine so that they can
gain all the latest gossip on what's going
on in the music world.
5. Do you listen to the indie/rock genre?
The results from this question shows
that a lot of people do listen to
indie/rock music which shows me
that it’s the perfect genre to use for
my magazine. Nevertheless, I did
receive two questionnaires with two
people expressing that they didn’t
listen to the indie/rock genre but
rather listened to the latest pop
music and music from the 70s,80s
and 90s.

6. State three of your favourite band/singers
from the indie/rock genre

Elle King Bon Jovi Guns N Roses
James Bay George Ezra Hozier
Bastille Imagine Dragons Lana Del Rey
Ellie Goulding Coldplay Fleetwood Mac
Fallout Boy Foals Stereophonics
Kasabian Circa Waves
This question was one of the most
important questions that I asked as it
gives me an idea on what sort of
artists people like so that I know who
should and shouldn’t be featured in
my magazine articles. The most
popular band chosen was the Artic
Monkeys which shows that I need to
include them somewhere in my
magazine. For the person who chose
Pop music, they picked Peter Andre,
Robbie Williams and ABBA as there
three artists.

I decided this was another key
question that needed to be
asked as it gives me an idea on
what the audience like to read as
there is no point in publishing a
magazine on the market that no
one will read as it doesn’t include
anything that they enjoy to read.
The most popular articles
appears to be interviews which
highlights that in my magazine I
need to feature more interviews
than anything else to attract the
audiences attention.

Never
This pie chart presents how often people
buy magazines. My results show that
people only buy magazines sometimes
rather than every week so I think for my
magazine it might be a good idea to
publish my magazine monthly because
people may be more likely to buy it then
as they wont miss out on all the latest
gossip as often as a monthly magazine will
publish articles about all the latest that
month. Those who chose never, stated it
was because they either never got round
to buying magazines or would just rather
read a book.

The bar chart presents the most
popular colours that people liked. This
will help me when I decide what
colour scheme to go for as I want my
magazine to be appealing to the eye
and grab the readers attention so
that they're more likely to pick my
magazine up and buy it straight
away. The most popular colour was
light blue with dark red and dark
purple being another favourite.
10. What three words do you associate with
the indie/rock genre?
Guitar Emotional Deep Chill Rock Soft Smooth
Cool Bands Instruments Energetic Loud Cave Small
Henna Nice Hair Nice Clothes Good Music Calm Awesome Interesting
Vibe Dark Gigs Famous Good Looking Rich
The pie chart to the side shows
what words people associate
with the indie/rock genre. The
answers that I have collected
will help me think of some
possible names for my music
magazine as I could use or
take inspiration from the words
that people have suggested.

This was a significant part to my
questionnaire as it allowed me to view
what caught peoples attention when they
walk past the magazine section in a local
store and ultimately makes them want to
buy that magazine. The majority of those
who I asked said that the artist featured on
the front of the magazine made them
want to buy it as it appealed to them
which means that I need to take in
consideration who I feature on the front of
my magazine. The use of main articles on
the front was another good point made as
the feature articles on the front need to
appeal to the audience so that they want
to read inside the magazine and find out
more.
12. Do you prefer there to be more text on
the page?
The results represent what the
audience like to see in their music
magazines. More people prefer
when there is more images on the
page rather than the page being
filled with text. However, some
people who I asked preferred text
over images which shows that I need
to make a fair balance between
images and text on my pages so
that my magazine is appealing to
everyone and not just certain
people.

For this question, everyone believed
that having the page numbers larger
on the contents page is better than
them being small and hard to see as
we use the contents page to view
the page numbers in order for us to
find the page we want to read quick
and easy. I now know that for my
contents page I need to assure that
the page numbers are bold and
bigger than the other text present on
the page so that readers can view
them easily.
14. Overall, by carrying out a questionnaire and collecting the
information it has allowed me to gather a wider knowledge on
the possible aspects that I need to include in my magazine so
that I can make it appealing to the audience. I was able to
collect answers on areas that I thought people would like when
in reality people would rather not include such as articles that
feature the latest news. I was also able to gather what colours I
should use on my magazine that would be suitable for my
genre as well as the type of artists and bands that I should
feature on my front cover and articles that I issue.
