2. THE BIG 6
Warner Bros. is a ‘major studio’ who engage in film production and
distribution. They release substantial number of films each year (25
films in 2015) and earn a major share in the box office revenues. WB
(Warner Bros.) are the largest in the entertainment business and by
having this company distribute my film will allow for a large budget (as
WB have a market share of $5.03 billion globally)and a lot of experience
as they can benefit my film financially and support it through the stages
with their ever growing knowledge of the film business. Being apart of
the big 6 will mean more publicity for my film and therefore a larger
revenue.
3. PORTFOLIO
Warner Bros (Time Warner) are a large conglomerate who are able to produce
many films throughout the year. The portfolio is very broad, ranging from
Horror (The Rite, 2011) to Kids Entertainment (Dolphin Tale (2011). They have
lots of experience when it comes to Action-Comedy as they have produced
franchises like Police Academy and Rush Hour. For example, the Rush Hour
franchise (3 films), with a total budget of $305 million, produced the
worldwide box office of $850 million showing how successful Warner Bros can
promote/market a film. These have become largely successful so they would
know that the Action – Comedy genre has a very large market and can bring
in lots of revenue. Looking through their portfolio, you can see that although
they have produced good films of this genre in the past, recently they haven't
made many action comedies so this could bring in some long waited
attention for this genre.
4. GENRE
Within the Action-Comedy genre, many social groups can be targeted.
Police Academy (1984) for example has a target audience of older
males, my film will hope to bring in a lot more of the younger viewers
who are more connected online. Having younger audience will help
Warner Bros as they are more likely to post on social media sites about
the film (exchange); viral marketing. Within this target audience, a large
quantity will be prosumers, who make and upload film related articles
for all to see. This will increase the Warner Brothers online following,
making it easier to connect with the audience.
5. EXPERIENCE
Having many other action and comedy films gives Warner Bros the
experience other distributing/production companies may not have. This
will make it more efficient as they would already know how to market a
film like this for example.
They understand how to alter their marketing campaign to maximise
opportunities, bringing in a large viewing for their films.
Having this experience would mean that taking another film and
marketing it will be relatively straight forward for Warner Brothers and
they would not see it as a large, dooming task.
6. TECHNOLOGY
As stated before, the target audience for my film will be technological
aware and will have a presence online. With technological
developments in recent years thriving, it has made it easier for people
to post, download and upload content onto sites such as Facebook
through different platforms. These sites assist during production as
Warner Bros will be able to constantly keep fans of a film up to date,
and having a much younger audience interested in action/ comedy
films will boost their earnings in the future.
7. QUALITY
With the Warner Bros. indent at the beginning of the film, there is this
sense of quality as it is part of a well know, well respected company
who produce and distribute high quality films. This could encourage
audience members to watch in cinemas and buy merchandise.
