WHAT KIND OF MEDIA INSTITUTION MIGHT
DISTRIBUTE YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT AND WHY?
By Abul Hasnat
WHAT IS INSTITUTIONS ?
 A media institution is a organisation that will
deal with a lot of factors in the media
industry for a final product, such as;
production, marketing, regulation and
distribution of the final media product
HOW THE INSTITUTION WILL DISTRIBUTE MY
PRODUCT
 The media institution will
distribute the final media
product through many phases:
 Advertisement - Advertising
the product through internet,
Television or even big posters.
 Cinema - Film awareness may
increase as people may watch
it and spread it through word of
mouth or even social
networking sites.
 Marketing – The film can be
distributed in shops i.e hmv
MAJOR INSTITUTIONS
 Warner brothers
 Dream Works
 Paramount Pictures
WARNER BROTHERS
 This is one of the main major film studio
which may also be referred to as Warner
bros.
 Warner brother is an American film
producer, television and music
entertainment, which is one the worlds
major institution
 It is a subsidiary of time Warner, and the
headquarters was in California and new
York
DREAM WORKS
 Dream works is a California film
studio, which develops, produces and
distributes films, video games as well
as television programs.
 It has produced more than 10 films
with box office, each costing $100
million each.
PARAMOUNT PICTURES
 Paramount pictures is a film
producing and distributing
studio
 One of the largest studio film
studio, as it is also a
subsidiary and a member of
motion picture association of
America (MPAA).
 In 2014, Paramount Pictures
became the first big
Hollywood studio to distribute
all its films in digital-form
only.
MAJOR
 A major film studio is a production and
distribution company that releases a
substantial number of films annually and
consistently commands a significant share of
box office revenues in a given market
INDEPENDENT
 An independent film is a
professional film
production resulting in a
feature film that is
produced mostly or
completely outside of the
major film studio system.
In addition to being
produced and distributed
by independent
entertainment companies,
independent films are
also produced and/or
distributed by subsidiaries
of major films studios
MAJOR OR INDEPENDENT ?
 I would like to publish my films through a major film
studios, as my research shows there is more
awareness about a film distributed by a major label
company, so I believe a major will enable my film to
be broadly broadcasted through advertisement
meaning there will be an increase in awareness
about my product, which will lead to more people
going to watch it, as result of this, there will be more
revenue and popularity of my final product.
WHICH INSTITUTIONS
 I would choose the Warner brothers due to the
success they have received through out the year, I
believe if I choose to associate with this institution,
it will lead to the awareness of my product to be
spread through out the world, I want it to branch of,
so it becomes a successful film, the reason why I
wouldn't want to associate with an independent
label is due to the fact that independant labels do
not get much help or funding, as the word the
‘independent’ gives it away, it will also mean i have
to distribute it with my very own effort, this is the
reason why i chose a major label.
