2. Analyzing the Learners
The students I will be teaching is a small 10 student
2nd grade class in the state of West Virginia. There are
two girls and 8 boys.
The ethnicity of the group is 80% Caucasian and 10%
African American
3. Objective
The objective for my class is to be able to locate all
states on a blank map of the United States. They will
be able to locate all states by using matching and
listening to songs. Students will have to learn the
location of the states with at least 80% accuracy in 5
days.
4. Breakdown
Day 1 –: Students will be instructed to look over the United States map after they
have received it. There will be class time given to student to overlook the map and
if there are any questions they will raise their hand they will be answered. Next
students go over my webquest, weebly, and wikispaces pages to give students an
understanding of the class ahead. Finally after that students will listen to a youtube
song about the 50 states.
Day 2 - : Students will first log on to computers and make their own facebook
account and like my page if I am need outside of the classroom. Also while on the
computer students will make twitter accounts to contact me if they need my
assistance outside of the classroom. Finally the students will study off of the map
they are given with all 50 state animals on them.
Day 3 - Students will watch an instructional video about the history of the American
states. Questions can be asked and answered through the video. After the video
students will go to blogger account and answer the question I have asked of them.
5. Breakdown continued
Day 4 - Students will be instructed to glue the state with the
corresponding state spot on map. Students after will sing and watch the
state song. Also students will be asked to use a pencil and a blank map to
name and locate the 50 states.
Day 5 - Students will have study time to look at their glued maps they
made at the beginning of class. They may study in groups if they wish. The
students will then return to their seats to participate in the view and
singing of the state songs along with the teacher. At the end of class
students will fill in the blank map with state names and location for 80%
accuracy.
