Day 2 – Landforms Part 1
A- Analyze Learner
Learners General Characteristics
This lesson and unit is for third grade students in an
Elementary comprehensive classroom setting. Students are
between 8 and 9 years of age. None of the students have severe
learning disabilities however some suffer from mild ADHD. The
classroom is not racially or socially diverse as that all of the
students are Caucasian. Most of them are from white middle
class families in a very rural area. Generally, the class is well
behaved with the exception of about 4 students.
Entry Competencies
Students will have prior knowledge of the Internet and be
familiar with using and searching YouTube.
Learning Styles
Learners tend to learn more in an interactive setting.
S- State Objectives
Students will achieve the following objectives by the end of the
day in the school computer lab at 100% accuracy.
2. Students will identify the Earth’s landforms as explained
in the videos.
Students will compare landforms from their favorite
movie.
Students produce a list of landforms from their favorite
movie via Facebook.
S- Select Methods, Media, and Materials
Methods- Group discussion on landforms
Media- YouTube Video – Landforms
Voki introduction
Classroom Facebook page
Materials – Computer, Smartboard
U- Utilizing Media and Materials
Introduce lesson using the Voki created.
Show YouTube video on landforms and ask students to
take notes.
Group discussion on landforms.
Ask students to log into their Facebook account and
access the classroom website. Students will comment on
the last status update made by the teacher which says
“Name your favorite movie and some of the landforms
you see in that movie.”
3. R- Require Learner Participation
Encourage students to talk about landforms. Ask
questions about where they vacation or their favorite outdoor
place during the group discussion.
E- Evaluate and Revise
Students will be evaluated on their participation on the
group discussion and their discussion on Facebook.
