1. Thursday
Analyze:
My 5th grade class consists of 20 students, 9 girls, and 11 boys. There are 2 African American children
and 1 Hispanic child, the rest are white middle class Americans. They have no learning disabilities.
State Objective:
The children will be able to define what lightning is and what thunderstorms are by posting comments
on the class Facebook account and being able to discuss with the class what they are. They will do this
with 100% accuracy by the end of the day.
Select Methods:
A blog about thunderstorm sounds will be posted on the Smart Board, this will allow all the children to
come up and listen to them as well as read facts. The children will use the class Facebook account to
post their comments on what they think thunderstorms are and what they like or do not like about
them and why.
Utilize Material:
-
I will show the blog site on the Smart Board, and have head phones set up with it.
I will allow the children to view some of the facts posted on the blog.
I will provide computers of iPads to the children, allowing them to access the class Facebook
account.
I will make sure that all kids are on track with each activity while walking around the class and
discussing some facts about thunderstorms and lightning.
Require Learner Participation:
Students will be given time to listen to different sounds caused by thunderstorms, as well as read
some facts on the blog site. They will get the opportunity to ask questions and answer them
throughout class while I walk around the classroom. They will also create a post about what they like
most about thunderstorms or what they dislike about them.
Evaluate and Revise:
Students will be evaluated throughout the day by answering questions about thunderstorms and
lightning while working on their activities. They will also discuss with their classmates what they
posted onto the class Facebook account.
