Draft Dodgers In The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War (1955–75), was Canada taking a role of an Arms Merchant or a Peacekeeper? Factually, approximately 30 000 Canadians
volunteered to fight in the war and also, there are evidences of Canada's involvement in secret, corrupt military missions with the U.S . To this day, it is
still debatable whether or not Canada did the "right thing"; and despite the fact that Canada sided with the U.S. and created a bigger, unnecessary "fire"
to the Vietnam War, the country managed to show their genuine side which was a peacekeeping, fair
–minded nation. Notably, there were significant
times when this country confidently committed actions that may be classified as just and responsible. This includes the 'Draft Dodgers' incident, how
Canada accepted refugees from South Vietnam, and Canadian activisms against war.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only did Canada's acceptance show their motive to lessen the war and desire for peace, it also outlined that this country was no longer under the
strings of the U.S. who (at the time) was considered a superpower and had great military power. To be more specific, 20 000 American draft
–dodgers
and 12 000 army deserters from their military service in Vietnam were welcomed and found refuge in Canada . The 'draft dodgers' event proves that
Canada stepped away from the big, violent idea of "Communism vs Capitalism" and walked towards peace and responsible choices. In fact, Canada
was capable of over–looking the United States' desire and their dependent relationship for peace and

Go About Preparing For A Writing Assignment
1.How do you typically go about preparing for a writing assignment? Describe the steps you take, including rereading the assignment, asking questions
about it, talking to instructors or friends, jotting down ideas, gathering information, and so on. How far in advance of the due date do you usually
begin working on the assignment?
Typically, I look at the assignment as soon as I can before the due date in order to begin the brainstorming process. This could be three months or two
days prior to the due date, depending on the situation. The early brainstorming process creates a general path for my writing process. When I am ready
to begin the writing process, I ask myself what the purpose of the assignment is and what point I am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic
by using mostly online resources, however, books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my assignment, I begin
writing the assignment.
2.When and where do your best ideas come to you?
My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites,
they are some of the only times that I am completely withdrawn from the outside world.
3.Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. Is it a good place to write? Why, or why not?
I currently live with my sister's family and have one room in there house. I usually do my writing in my room with the door

Draft Dodger Rag Poem Analysis
The world was at war for the longest time, and now after WWII people are taking a stand in what their countries go through. War protests, post world
war two, have influenced world history by giving musicians new ideas for songs, and the My Lai Massacre was an unfortunate event that took place in
protest to the Vietnam War.
There is a plethora of anti–war songs that legendary musicians like Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, and The King of Rock and Roll
himself, Elvis Presley, have written. One very important song, according to VOA news, is Draft Dodger Rag by Phil Ochs. Essentially, he sings about
how to avoid being drafted into the war. It's little things such as, "...a dislocated disc and a wracked up back...when the bombshell

Isaiah Thomas As A Role Model In College
When someone says "role model" who do you think of? For me personally it would have to be someone who has gotten through struggles and
gotten to where they are through hard work not just having everything handed to them. A role model in my life would also have to be someone
who is a positive influence on me whether he/ she is on or off the field, court or rink. After what I had just said in the sentence before my role
model would probably be an athlete considering that I love all sports and hope to play in college and maybe even beyond that. My role model and
someone I aspire to be like would be Isaiah Thomas. Especially after the playoff run Isaiah has led the Boston Celtics through right now. Isaiah Thomas

Isaiah went to a good division one school for basketball which was the University of Washington. After his senior year at Washington Isaiah declared
for the NBA draft hoping to be drafted. To think that a player like Isaiah Thomas was drafted so late people tend to think he is either not that great
of a player or that everyone assumed he would be so ineffective at the NBA level of play due to his lack of height standing at five feet and nine
inches. Isaiah although he was a good player was overlooked by everyone NBA team until the very last pick of the draft. The Sacramento Kings
took a shot with Isaiah Thomas and this was Isaiah's reaction after being asked "what did it feel like being last pick?" Isaiah responded with
something that is so inspirational saying "All I ever wanted was a chance". When first hearing this I thought well if I was him I would have wanted
to be drafted even higher and to a better team but what he responded made me think. After all his hard work, and dedication to the game of
basketball, he would have been happy even if he was undrafted but he was even happier he got the chance he needed to prove himself. This shows true
confidence in yourself and being self– assured that he would get the job done and be given his chances after. Isaiah Thomas was also elected into the

The Importance Of Academic Writing
The academic writing process has been around for ages, so the attributes that a scholarly piece, such as this one, must possess in order to be efficient
are no secret. All academic pieces of writing must have a mix of the following qualities: objectivity, accuracy, and complexity. These attributes must
remain intact and must not waiver throughout each step of the writing process. This very process that forces students to set creativity aside is proposed
to assist in critical thinking skills, writing skills, and embracing of a higher complexity of vocabulary, among other things, is often given much more
credit than is truly due. Both authors that wrote Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses conducted a study that took... Show more

Breaking down each stage of the process and setting shorter–term milestones and deadlines is also recommended. Although many students will continue
to procrastinate their papers, the students that actively participate in the introductory stage of planning are setting themselves up to adopt this efficient
time management method in other facets of daily life. Most of the truly genuine planning occurs in this stage. Once students have a keen understanding
of what they're being asked to do, they can continue to the planning stage of the writing process. In the planning stage, students do most of their
research on their respective topics. It's important that the main objective of the paper remain in the forefront of students' research, given that the first
few searches that come up may not be relevant to their topics. In this stage, students learn what it means to remain vigilant and not wander from the
task at hand. Students will encounter frustration regarding the relevancy of search results; however, this frustration leads to learning how to craft
efficient search queries regarding their topic. Students should deconstruct their topic into various key points that must be addressed, then research and
gather information distinct to said points. Depending on the individual, gathering citations can be interchangeable between steps. One may argue that

Bucs's NFL Draft
Well, Bucs fans, the first day of this year's NFL draft is in the books. The Bucs did manage to find Buffalo to trade out of the number 7 spot, which
was the smart thing to do after Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson were all of the board at that time, as expected. So Tampa Bay
ended up trading the 7th overall pick for the 12th pick and another two 2nd rounders, which was a brilliant move. Picking up Vita Vae, Defensive
Tackle out of Washington, might have come as a surprise to many, yet it was a solid pickup. The Chris Baker experiment did not pan out. Now
Licht is looking to seek help alongside Gerald McCoy by using his first rounder on the best Defensive Tackle available this year. Vita Vae is 6'4'' and

Vietnam Dbq
Should we abandon our country? The Vietnam war was the war between South Vietnam and North Vietnam. Northern Vietnam wanted to spread
communism to the Southern part of Vietnam while the Southern part wanted democracy. Many people opposed the war because it was a foreign war
and the U.S had no business digging its nose into it. Others claimed that it was intervening with Vietnam's own independence. During the war the U.S
had "drafted" many poor american citizens to fight in the war. Being drafted meant that you were being conscripted into the war because you meet
the physical and mental standards to fight in the war. Some people didn't think that it was fair and fled the country or lied to the federal government.
Those people were called "draft dodgers" ( people who got out of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and by them joining the war South Vietnam would have a greater chance to win. What many Americans didn't know was at the time the only action
where no unnecessary americans were killed was choosing not to further entregue the the Vietnam forces. If we were to carelessly decided to drop an
atomic bomb Vietnam had the power to do the same. To draft–dodgers this meant that they would have joined a war that would only end (at the time all
things pointed to it) in a cosmic disaster. This release from Cronkite, who at the time was a very well trusted journalist, influenced people to have the
same decision, that joining the war would either end in a nuclear war between both nations, the death of hundreds of thousands of more soldiers, or the
invasion of the North which would escalate to more

The NFL Fining Players

NFL Fining Players Imagine a person fresh out of college getting fined thousands of dollars. This happens all of the time in the NFL. The bad thing
is they're not even breaking the law. Players are breaking the rules in the NFL and get fined. The reason behind all of this is to keep a fair game
between the franchises. Yet these people make thousands and thousands of dollars anyways. Does fining even make a difference to them anyways?
Some say the NFL fining its players is a good thing. In the NFL there are many things that can cause a fine to a player. According to Jason Plautz
players in the NFL can get fines for simply changing the color of their shoes (Mental Floss). Excessive celebration is a common way to get fined
usually in the endzone. Only certain celebrations that would include fans or messing with the pylons and actions along those lines can result in a
fine to a player. Also making contact with a referee in any way, which can be known in some cases as unsportsmanlike conduct will cause a fine in
the direction of that player. Punching and kicking a player from the opposing team will get a player fined. In some cases tackling the quarterback
after he has thrown the ball is illegal and the NFL will fine the player, and also late hits and cut blocking are illegal. The interesting thing is a player
can avoid a fine, if there is no penalty flag thrown because of their actions. In the NFL there have been fines

we went to my favorite part, apple picking, I loved eating them most of all because they were so fresh and sweet and juicy and perfect!(30) After that
it was about lunchtime and we were all starving. There was so much to chose, I could never pick, never. (29). There was everything from pretzels and...

That's where stupidity started and then I sat down and cried some more. Then after seeing many cars drive by, one stopped and a woman walked

know. So she told me that she would help me find my mom, but she told me that I had to to get in the car. So I did second step of stupidity, when I
got in the car there was 3 girls in the back and 2 more beside me. I was probably one of the most awkward moments in my life because Super

look around some more and as we turned around I heard someone call my name. To my surprise, it was Kylie, grandma, mom, and dad all standing
there! I was ecstatic to see them, it felt like an eternity since I had seen them. As my wise, old friend Lizzie Binnie once said in her paper, "Have you

How to Handle the Situation After Missing a Test or an Important Assignment
If you have ever missed a test or failed to turn in a major assignment on time, then you know that the longer you've been gone, the harder it becomes to
work on that late project. What can you do to break the cycle of avoidance and delay?
Realize that your absence weighs heavier on your mind than the other person's. Advisors are not losing sleep over late dissertation proposals and journal
editors aren't agonizing over missing manuscripts. The project is more important to you than anyone else.
Remember, when you do get in touch, the person is unlikely to be angry and punitive. We tend to be much harsher about our own tardiness than we are
about other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If appropriate, ask the person if they'd like to review what you've written so far.
Sidestep going AWOL in the first place. Set up a meeting with your advisor with the plan of having the entire proposal done. If you realize, a few days
before the meeting, that a complete draft won't be possible, ask whether you can turn in an incomplete draft annotated with specific questions you
have about the gaps. If a journal editor asks for an estimated date for the revision, reply that you'll try to return the manuscript within a month unless
there are unforeseen problems. Then, if glitches arise, you can contact the editor with a revised estimate of completion. Give yourself some leeway. If
you tend to run late, you might want to adopt the policy of "don't ask don't tell": many academics I work with volunteer deadlines even when it is
unnecessary to do so. Perhaps you should keep your completion goals to yourself.
Take extra steps to avoid AWOL when your absence will affect others. If you are late with a dissertation chapter or a single
–authored journal article it
usually only hurts you. But when you are late with a group project, going AWOL has consequences for your colleagues. Put special effort into
promptness in these cases. For example, when you are writing a chapter for an edited volume, be sure to keep in touch with the

Darnell Dockett: A Career In Professional Sports
With preseason over, all 32 teams need to be down to 53 players. It's not an easy time to be a 3rd–string player, a late–round draft pick, or an aging

York Giants punter Steve Weatherford, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers, and San Francisco 49ers d

How Does Wilfred Owen Present The Pity Of War?
Consider changes Owen made in Anthem For Doomed Youth. How effective do you find them in presenting the Pity of War?
In this essay I intend to analysis how effective the redrafts of the poem 'Anthem For Doomed Youth' by comparing the first and final drafts. I will go
about this task by comparing and contrasting the parts of the poem, which have been change to the ones, which appeared in the final draft.
The first change that one is confronted with is the change of the title. Owen begins with the word 'dead', which is changed to 'doomed'.
The reason for changing this is because it makes the readers first impressions very deep. The word 'doomed' hits closer to home than the word 'dead'
as doomed creates image sin the readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word fast seems to not be as exploitive enough to help convey the message Owen is attempting to create. This again helps emphasise the 'Pity of
War'.
In line two the reference to guns is changed from 'our' to 'the' this creates a sense of opposition within the poem again linking in with what the nature of
war and creating a sense of 'them' and 'us' this is a very small change but it suggests to the reader that there is no end due to the fact that if the enemy
does not stop their fighting then they cannot either. The overall impact of the line of 'the guns' makes the whole connotation seem much more sinister
and threatening.
In the third line there is a significant change of the phrases Owen uses. It is clear that in the first draft Owen uses personification to an extent that the
reader could say he is trying to hard. He then changes technique to one of alliteration and creates a line of
'riffles rapid fire' which is much harder hitting again keeping in the line with the way that Owen is conveying the 'Pity of War' but he also keeps in
trend with the two structures of the poem. The line 'riffles rapid fire' has a sense of speed to it, which is what the first stanza is all about. 'Stuttering' is
also a significant word, as the action to stutter is to do something again and again just like the gunfire that the soldiers would be subject to.
In line four the main change is the usage of the word 'patter'. This,

Vietnam War As A Civic Duty And A True Testament
Vietnam
In the 1960s, America found itself divided among various social matters. Conformity, civil rights, and the Vietnam war. While the older generations
viewed fighting in the war as a civic duty and a true testament to what it meant to be an "American", the counterculture did not share this belief.
Regardless of how anyone felt about the war, it had escalated to epic proportions and as one citizen put it, "It was on our mind every single hour of the
day" (PBS CITE). Vietnam was the first war ever to be televised, and with that came constant coverage and a growing concern from young Americans.
In addition, the military draft made matters worse by forced the youth America to fight. "By 1968, the war in Vietnam had claimed over 15,000
American lives"(CITE PBS). Between the draft and the growing American casualties, greater tension in the US was created. Young Americans had to
ask themselves if the war was worth fighting.
Opposition to the draft and draft evasion was the central plot element in Hair with Claude 's indecision of whether or not to serve his country in
Vietnam–a war he does not believe in (Young, 1993, p. 71). Claude represent most of the youth of America and their confusion which was ignited by
the war. His internal conflict is depicted in the song "Where do I Go": "Where do I go/ Follow the children (...) Is there an answer / In their sweet
faces / That tells me why I live and die" (SONG CITE). Here, Claude talks about following his tribe as a way to make

They were all old and weary men, who looked saddened upon seeing me, as if the only hope they had for humanity was a fire dying out. There
would be two hundred more trucks just like this, all weary and old, with the occasional disabled, all from the poor sects. Sects that were only good for
producing farmers and draftees. Though I suppose things were bad everywhere, even in what we might consider rich sects, there was still famine and

We almost died off once, only to be saved by a miracle from another planet. But perhaps every silver lining has a cloud, because this miracle was

Personal Reflection : My High School Experience In Writing
As my Writing 39C course comes to a close, now is a great time to look at the journey I have taken to get here. I'll start with my high school
experience with writing. Although, I wasn't a terrible writer, I didn't strive to be the best writer I could be. Although I had a decent writing skill,
enough to pass the AP English exam at least, I never really pushed my writing abilities to anything beyond the minimum amount needed to pass
with a decent grade. Once I got to college, however, writing was a different story. When I came into Writing 39B, I felt it would be something
similar to my experiences in my high school AP English classes. Do the assignments with a minimal amount of work in order to get a decent
grade, and just pass the class. However, as the course proceeded, I learned that I actually needed to make an effort to apply skill to my writing in
order to do well. This was the first time I actually had to rigorously challenge my current skills in order to improve. As 39B came to a close, I felt
that I had actually improved my composition skill. Writing 39C was now where I solidified and revised some of the techniques I learned in 39B,
broke some bad habits, and worked to understand my style of writing. Working through the Historical Conservation Project (HCP) and Advocacy
Project (AP), I have pushed myself to improve my writing skill. Although I have learned a lot throughout this quarters here at UCI, I want to emphasize
three main areas that I have made great strides in: research, drafting, and revision.
Research
I came into Writing 39C with some formal lessons on how to research, mainly from high school. However, since I was taught those lessons years
ago, I came into Writing 39C with a clear head. My primary research focus throughout the quarter was on copyright law and how the current law is
out of touch with the Internet age. I got this idea from a course I took in the previous quarter. The course was on cyberspeech and gaming, with a
focus on obscenity laws and, the thing I found most interesting, copyright and fair use. Given my interest in the topic and slight familiarity, I chose to
tackle the problem of copyright law and fair use. Starting my research, I immediately went to

Why Is It Assists Me? Developing Better Organizational And...
Working on a research paper is something I admire, because it involves a process that can be useful in various ways, and is applicable to a variety of
situations. What I like most about research papers is the fact that it assists me in developing better organizational and planning skills. Preparing research
papers are always challenging, especially for someone who lacks experience and motivation. A research paper requires time and effort, most students
that I have seen tend to give up during the end of their research paper. This shows the lack of confidence they have and the inexperience to push on.
Conducting a research paper also requires patience; at times you will go through a period of frustration and anxiety. The first step to go about creating
a research paper is to find and choose a topic. Finding a topic that would interest and challenge you at the same time is essential. Your attitude to the
topic may well determine the amount of effort and enthusiasm you put into your research. Before proceeding with the paper, I would recommend each
student to obtain permission from a teacher for the topic they chose. Some topics might be to offensive and hurtful, therefore it is preferable to have the
consent of a teacher first. Proceeding without the permission of the teacher will only bring doubt and uncertainty to your paper. The next step is one
that most people find challenging, and this is to browse the internet and look for information that goes with the topic.

NBA Draft Lottery
The incentive to tank for GMs is compounded by two other factors: geographic restrictions and the maximum contract provision. Between 1976
and 2011, the five teams from New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles have been represented in 33% of all NBA Finals, and have won 47% of all
titles . Because teams outside of Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago are at a disadvantage in terms of their ability to attract players, except for
unusual circumstances (like the appeal of playing with a generational talent like LeBron James), they have to resort to hoping for exceptional talent in
the form of early draft picks, whose rights they have the ability to control for 7 years . Additionally, as the current maximum contract rule in the

Scholars like Michael Munger have spoken to exactly how rent seeking destroys value on aggregate, while others like Michael DeBow and Milton
Friedman have spoken to the morality behind rent seeking, and why managers are obligated to do so based on the morality of their role. I propose a
bidding system which places a cap on the amount of league–wide value teams can destroy in the pursuit of a top draft pick. This same spending cap
concept can also be applied to other instances of rent seeking in corporate America, as the government can show more consideration for the effects of
the "free money" they give out in the form of rents like subsidies and grants. All in all, with proper legal restriction and a more societally focused
mindset, the negative effects of rent seeking, while difficult to remove, can at least be

Back in high school, I was considered one of the best writers in my class. Obviously, high school does not have the same standards as a college

Uncharacteristically for my stubborn personality, I forced myself to accept that I am at fault, rather than the very tempting anchor to praise, and looked

ideas and paragraphs, staying consistent with my topic, and many other issues that would may my writing better. One of the most pressured lessons I
have learned in the course was the important of revising my papers and getting other people to look over my writing. In high school, most revision was
mostly looking for errors, such as wrong words, punctuation, and grammar. For the majority, students did not critic the content itself. While these are
still problems that I need to fix, the revision process also now includes others analyzing the overall quality and understanding of the work. As the
writer, I have difficulties in finding how others may not understand my flow of ideas since everything makes sense to me. Through peer revision, I
can adjust my papers to better clarity and fix exactly what problems I may have overlooked so that people who are not me, such as the grader, may be

In Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, he emphasizes a chapter on "The Man I Killed", which describes the characteristics of a young
Vietnamese man in which O'Brien may or may not have killed with a grenade. The novel is not chronologically sequenced, which leaves more room
for the reader to engage in a critical thought process that fully bridges the author's mind to their own. In O'Brien's chapter, "The Man I Killed", he
attempts to humanize the enemy in a way that draws little separation between the enemy and himself by relating the enemy's life prior to the war to
his, and illustrates the war through the eyes of the soldiers who fought it. To understand "The Man I Killed", the reader must first enlighten themselves

It wasn't until he went to war and was faced with the enemy that he would realize that the enemy wasn't so different after all. "His jaw was in his
throat, his upper lip and teeth were gone, his one eye was shut, his other eye was a star–shaped hole...," writes O'Brien as he studies the deceased
enemy (118). Throughout the novel, the author shows consistency with repeating stories and lines in a way to present a greater image. He reminds
the reader of details the elaborate his larger view. When he writes of the man he killed, he wants the reader to imagine themselves in his shoes, as
he imagined himself in the enemies'. As he carefully studies the dead man, he imagines how the boy found himself in the war. By relating
American society to the boy's village of My Khe, he bridges similarities connecting the two by a culture that promotes defending one's land and
ways of life. By saying, "he would have been taught that to defend the land was a man's highest duty and highest privilege," he shows there is
minimal difference between how most Americans view the military and the duty of the villagers in My Khe (119). Although he had not known the
exact history of the boy, he attempted to illustrate in his own mind what his life may have been like prior to the invasion. The inability for O'Brien
to walk away from the body as Kiowa continued to pry him away says he was troubled by the similarities. Despite Kiowa saying it could have been

The National Basketball Association ( Nba )
The National Basketball Association (NBA) is currently struggling with a widespread epidemic known as tanking. Tanking, for the sake of this
paper, is a, "team 's intent to do less than everything it can to win." Teams are motivated to tank because of a system known as the NBA Draft lottery,
which assigns the worst NBA teams with the best odds of winning one of the three top picks in the NBADraft (where teams are able to select from a
talent pool of amateur or previously unassociated athletes). This allocation (of higher odds in the NBA Draft lottery) represents a rent, or a, "return to
investment, or effort, that exceeds the opportunity cost rate of return." In this context, it is understood to mean that teams are competing for the ... Show

Whether through occupational licenses, non–compete clauses, or land–use restrictions, rent seeking has been associated with causing higher income
inequality and negatively interfering with the operation of free market economies . An example of the negative effects of of rent seeking can be
found in occupational licenses. While occupational licenses were noted for increasing income by 15% over the free market value of an occupation,
they are also charged with inhibiting entrepreneurship (especially among low income workers), raising prices, and lowering productivity . In fact, a
2011 study even indicated that the existence of occupational licenses may be responsible for removing as many 2.85 million jobs from the US economy .
Given that rent seeking has been blamed for income inequality, job loss, and lower economic productivity, it is no surprise that there have been a
variety of academic works on the subject. One such work is an article by Michael Munger entitled Rent–Seek and You Will Find. In the article, Munger
describes his involvement in the bidding process for HUD grants while working in Charlotte. In this case, the HUD grants represent the rent, as the
grants are a capital infusion that the winning city would receive from the government, rather than income generated from free market actions that drive
more business or sustainable tax income to the city. Munger

Essay about Tim O'Brien's the Things They Carried
Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried is not a novel about the Vietnam War.
It is a story about the soldiers and their experiences and emotions that are brought
about from the war. O'Brien makes several statements about war through these dynamic
characters. He shows the violent nature of soldiers under the pressures of war, he
makes an effective antiwar statement, and he comments on the reversal of a social deviation
into the norm. By skillfully employing the stylistic technique of specific, conscious
detail selection and utilizing connotative diction, O'Brien thoroughly and convincingly makes
each point.
The violent nature that the soldiers acquired during their tour in Vietnam is
one of O'Brien's predominant themes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole concept is metaphoric, based on the connotations of key words; nevertheless, it is extremely
effective in conveying O'Brien's theme.
O'Brien makes a valid, effective antiwar statement in The Things They Carried.
The details he includes give the reader insight into his opinions concerning the
Vietnam War and the draft that was used to accumulate soldiers for the war. While thinking of
escaping to Canada, he says: "I was drafted to fight a war I hated. . .The American
war seemed to me wrong"(44). O'Brien feels that U.S. involvement in Vietnamese affairs
was unnecessary and wasteful. He includes an account of his plan to leave the country
because he did not want to risk losing his life for a cause he did not believe in. Here
O'Brien shows the level of contempt felt towards the war; draft dodging is dangerous. He was
not a radical antiwar enthusiast, however, for he takes "only a modest stand against the
war"(44). While not condoning the fighting, he does not protest the war except for
minimally, peacefully, and privately doing so. His dissatisfaction with the drafting
process is included in his statement, "I was a liberal, for Christ's sake: if they needed
fresh bodies, why not draft some back–to–the–stone–age–hawk?"(44). O'Brien's point of drafting only
those who approve involvement in the war is clearly made while his political
standpoint is simultaneously revealed. The

To start the 2018 off–season, the New York Jets had one of the biggest cap spaces in the league. It's fair to say that they took advantage, making
many marquee signings. This roster is going to look very different from last year after a revamp of the cornerback group and quarterback room to

the season. He's a very quick, agile corner who had the fastest 40 yard dash time at the combine at 4.32. Out of the players who I think will be cut,
Rashard Robinson has been the biggest disappointment, after trading a 5th round pick for him in the middle of the 2017 season, he had 2 tackles in

On The Rainy River And John Strickland : Draft Dodger '
The Internal Conflict When the Vietnam war took place, many people protested against it as they believed that the war's purpose was illogical and
unreasonable. Many people tried to protest against it in different ways; for example, men who were drafted to the war fled the country – as a form of
protest – in order to dodge the draft. Stories like "On the Rainy River" and "John Strickland: Draft Dodger" show how men reacted when they were
drafted to the Vietnam War, a war which they were opposed to. In the story "On the Rainy River"– the story was written by an author was also named
Tim O'Brien just like the main character in the story – O'Brien was opposed to the war as he believed that the war was unjust and unreasonable and
saw it as unnecessary. He tried to flee the country to dodge the draft but he couldn't bring himself to do it as he felt too guilty and ashamed of his
decision to avoid fighting in the war. However, in the story "John Strickland: Draft Dodger"– the story was written by John Strickland himself –
Strickland, a man who also disagreed with the reason for the war, fled the country as he didn't believe in fighting in a war which had no solid
purpose. From his perspective, fleeing the country to dodge the draft was his way of protesting against the war. Both Strickland and O'Brien didn't
agree or support the war for similar reasons. Yet, only Strickland stuck to his convictions and dodged the draft to show that he was against the war

Racism Vs Football Racism
This season in the NFL has been one of the more politically and racially driven seasons that we 've seen in a very long time.
From President Donald Trump calling NFL players S.O.B 's at a rally in Huntsville, Ala., to Dallas Cowboys ' owner Jerry Jones taking a stance that
if any players "disrespect" the flag or national anthem they won 't play, and finally players speaking out across the league on racial injustice and
oppression.
It truly ignited a conversation in the United States on both sides of the aisle.
But how did we get to this point? To answer that question, we have to look at former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who did not
stand before a preseason game in 2016 and explained why he did it.

How do they feel about the situation? Are they boycotting the league? Or are they continuing to watch, but still believe in the overall message of
Kaepernick 's stance?
If you ask college student Conner Watson, who follows both theNew England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, he is boycotting the league and felt that
something needed to be done.
"After seeing what happened to Colin Kaepernick, I knew I had to do something. I was so moved by what he did, as well as several conversations
with my sister regarding activism, I couldn 't give my viewership to the NFL this season," he said.
Watson also explained what steps he has taken to boycott the league from monetary discussion to just regular football talk with friends.
"I am boycotting by not watching games or highlights, buying merchandise, or even discussing games with my friends. I am also fostering discussions
and political actions around these issues of inequality."
On the other hand, Keaton Nichols, host of The Lounge on WURD Radio and long–time Pittsburgh Steelers fan is not boycotting the league, but still
fully believes in Kaepernick's message.
"I felt like when folks were calling for a boycott of the NFL that they were kind of calling for a boycott of the whole thing. The players, the league itself,
and the owners, which are kind of, their own entities in themselves," Nichols explained.

New York Coaches Case Study
The New York Jets are actively pursuing free agent quarterback Kirk Cousins. With four quarterbacks expected to go early in the 2018 NFL Draft,
here's why Gang Green should not waste their time signing him.
At the start of the 2018 season, quarterback Kirk Cousins will be 30 years of age. The average career span of an NFL quarterback with at least one Pro
Bowl appearance is 11.7 years as provided by Statista. Cousins would enter his seventh pro season in 2018. Which would give him five more seasons
left in his NFL career, according to the study.
Some of the past great quarterbacks declined in play at the age of 37. As a study by the Boston Globe showed. Players such as Dan Marino, John

The objective the New York Jetswould want if they signed Cousins, would be to win their second Super Bowl championship. The one goal that has
neglected the organization since 1968.
After the career year that former Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had in which he led a team full of high priced veteran players one game away from
making the NFL playoffs back in 2015, things weren't ever the same. The organization recognized that going all out and spending every penny the team
had left in cap space was not the way to success and committed themselves to rebuilding reconstructing with youth.
In an article written by Eric Allen of NewYorkJets.com, owner Woody Johnson stated the following in regards to this:
"If you want to go to the promise land, you have to go in a certain direction. I think what we have done over the years is traded picks away and we've

their country. Two texts that exhibit this difficult time are Muhammad Ali's "The Greatest: My Own Story" and an interview of John Strickland's "John
Strickland: Draft Dodger". Ali cared for respect and the rewards that were ultimately far more important than money or glory as he faced with societal
pressures. Likewise, Strickland observes his surroundings, the environment where he visualizes the midpoint to either join the military to fight in the

through statistical capabilities or performances of the real world players which are included in the fantasy rosters of the respective owners.

All in all, after acquiring a new player and dropping an old one, your roster will be changed. But there are other ways of changing players in Football

Activating Bench Players To Active Status
One of the most overlooked ways of changing players in an existing lineup is by simply changing the status of a certain player from bench to active

status of each of the players on your roster. Always remember to save the changes before you exit the page.
Trading Players
This can be the easiest way of changing the player composition of a Fantasy Football team. For one, this method of changing players on a team is
allowed even if the season has already started. And more importantly, this method has very few restrictions; so the process and the agreements that lead
to the trading of players is entirely left to the preferences of the two teams that decide to

The Conspiracies Associated With The Reason Why The Usa...
The conspiracies associated with the reason why the USA joined the Vietnam War led to massive resistance against the draft in the early 1970's. In
response to being picked in the draft, many Americans fled to Canada because American citizens believed that the federal government had selfish and
unreasonable intentions in joining the war in Vietnam, which was to destroy the spread of communism. The intentions of the federal government
when joining the Vietnam War relates to The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien because Tim O'Brien also considered dodging the draft and
immigrating to Canada but as a consequence of social pressure, the guilt he felt resulted in the change of his mindset. While "On the Rainy River"
condemns the idea of heroism because it applies oppressive pressure on soldiers, "The Ghost Soldiers" celebrates the idea of heroism because it allows
one to enter dangerous situations with great fortitude in order to save others' lives.
In the beginning of "On The Rainy River," O'Brien condemns the idea of heroism because he feels that it is unfair that he is forced to fight in
Vietnam when he doesn't find the true purpose of the war. O'Brien is flabbergasted when he receives news of his nomination from the draft to fight in
Vietnam: "I was too good for this war. Too smart, too compassionate, too everything" (39). When O'Brien claims to be "too good, too smart, too
compassionate," he emphasizes the inherent unfairness of the draft process. Even though he has the

Reflective Essay On The Writing Process
The writing process of pre–writing, drafting, revising and publishing has helped me to become proficient in my writing. After applying the writing
process method, I can break down my writing into manageable chunks and focus on delivering quality material. I believe that my writing dramatically
depends on my attitude, motivation and engagement as I have gathered that the writing process takes these components into account by allowing me to
plan my writing and create a publishable, final draft of my work of which I can be satisfied. It addresses my need for a real audience and to take the
time to draft and redraft my work.
I have learned many things about the writing process. I've learned how to recognise my mistakes by revising texts and that sharing with other writers
is rewarding and offers challenges. I've identified the high level of experienced and the quality writings achieved when following each method, the
simplicity of this process and that it takes time and patience to build a well–structured text. I have also learned that it is okay to make errors in a first
draft and as beginner writers, these errors teach us a lot as learners, and it improves our overall future writing abilities. To put it simply, although I have
the tools for creating well–regulated writing content, I acknowledge that it will take considerable practice before each writing method is approached
positively and confidently in my ability to produce writings with exceptional strength and achievement.
These learning attributes have been represented in my creative writing many times. Learning about how simple the writing process makes for
excellent writing allowed me to structure my response without notable difficulty or confusion. It involved taking steps to brainstorm my ideas and
organising key points for the relevant subject addressed within my response. It also allowed me to showcase ideas by the expansion of my writing
efficiently. When I learned how sharing my work with others can improve my writing by their use of proving me with quality feedback, I was able
to adjust my work according to my peers and tutors own critical review of my detailed response. Following the editing of my response, I became aware

Draft Dodgers In The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War 27 million American men registered for the "Draft". A American man was required to register for the draft at the age of 18.
Men between the ages of 18–26 years old fought in Vietnam unless they were in college or Medically disabled. 80% of the middle and lower classes
fought in the war, and about в…” of the men were volunteers to fight. When a soldier's name was called he was to report to his local draft board.
The local draft board was made up of many community members. He was to report as soon as possible so they could evaluate his status. The only
way to avoid the draft was to either have mental issues, were married, had children, attending college, or they were needed at home to help support
their families. Lots of men were known as "draft dodgers". When president Johnson ended the marriage deferment on August 26th, 1956, many men
fled the country to neutral countries like Canada. Many people thought of "draft dodgers" as cowards to the nation. Many men claimed that the draft
lottery was not fair. On December 1, 1969 the Selective Service conducted two lottery drawings since 1942 in Washington. The draft stated which men
were eligible for the draft. Men from the years 1944–1950 were called to report right away for the eligibility to join the war in 1970.... Show more

Tim O'Brien's, The Things they Carried is a riveting tale of struggle and sacrifice, self indulgence and self pity, and the intrapersonal battles that

know what it will do. But just stick pictures up and people will forget is their mentality. Everyone who's one top and pushing for this war is neglecting
to comprehend that the majority of

Draft Dodgers In The Vietnam War

  • 1. Draft Dodgers In The Vietnam War During the Vietnam War (1955–75), was Canada taking a role of an Arms Merchant or a Peacekeeper? Factually, approximately 30 000 Canadians volunteered to fight in the war and also, there are evidences of Canada's involvement in secret, corrupt military missions with the U.S . To this day, it is still debatable whether or not Canada did the "right thing"; and despite the fact that Canada sided with the U.S. and created a bigger, unnecessary "fire" to the Vietnam War, the country managed to show their genuine side which was a peacekeeping, fair –minded nation. Notably, there were significant times when this country confidently committed actions that may be classified as just and responsible. This includes the 'Draft Dodgers' incident, how Canada accepted refugees from South Vietnam, and Canadian activisms against war.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only did Canada's acceptance show their motive to lessen the war and desire for peace, it also outlined that this country was no longer under the strings of the U.S. who (at the time) was considered a superpower and had great military power. To be more specific, 20 000 American draft –dodgers and 12 000 army deserters from their military service in Vietnam were welcomed and found refuge in Canada . The 'draft dodgers' event proves that Canada stepped away from the big, violent idea of "Communism vs Capitalism" and walked towards peace and responsible choices. In fact, Canada was capable of over–looking the United States' desire and their dependent relationship for peace and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Go About Preparing For A Writing Assignment 1.How do you typically go about preparing for a writing assignment? Describe the steps you take, including rereading the assignment, asking questions about it, talking to instructors or friends, jotting down ideas, gathering information, and so on. How far in advance of the due date do you usually begin working on the assignment? Typically, I look at the assignment as soon as I can before the due date in order to begin the brainstorming process. This could be three months or two days prior to the due date, depending on the situation. The early brainstorming process creates a general path for my writing process. When I am ready to begin the writing process, I ask myself what the purpose of the assignment is and what point I am trying to make. I then begin researching the topic by using mostly online resources, however, books and interviews are sometimes required. After enough information is found for my assignment, I begin writing the assignment. 2.When and where do your best ideas come to you? My best ideas come to me when I am either relaxed in the shower or in the middle of an intense exercise routine. Although they are extreme opposites, they are some of the only times that I am completely withdrawn from the outside world. 3.Where do you usually do your writing? Describe this place. Is it a good place to write? Why, or why not? I currently live with my sister's family and have one room in there house. I usually do my writing in my room with the door ... • 3. Draft Dodger Rag Poem Analysis The world was at war for the longest time, and now after WWII people are taking a stand in what their countries go through. War protests, post world war two, have influenced world history by giving musicians new ideas for songs, and the My Lai Massacre was an unfortunate event that took place in protest to the Vietnam War. There is a plethora of anti–war songs that legendary musicians like Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, and The King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley, have written. One very important song, according to VOA news, is Draft Dodger Rag by Phil Ochs. Essentially, he sings about how to avoid being drafted into the war. It's little things such as, "...a dislocated disc and a wracked up back...when the bombshell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Isaiah Thomas As A Role Model In College When someone says "role model" who do you think of? For me personally it would have to be someone who has gotten through struggles and gotten to where they are through hard work not just having everything handed to them. A role model in my life would also have to be someone who is a positive influence on me whether he/ she is on or off the field, court or rink. After what I had just said in the sentence before my role model would probably be an athlete considering that I love all sports and hope to play in college and maybe even beyond that. My role model and someone I aspire to be like would be Isaiah Thomas. Especially after the playoff run Isaiah has led the Boston Celtics through right now. Isaiah Thomas is the best example of the famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Isaiah went to a good division one school for basketball which was the University of Washington. After his senior year at Washington Isaiah declared for the NBA draft hoping to be drafted. To think that a player like Isaiah Thomas was drafted so late people tend to think he is either not that great of a player or that everyone assumed he would be so ineffective at the NBA level of play due to his lack of height standing at five feet and nine inches. Isaiah although he was a good player was overlooked by everyone NBA team until the very last pick of the draft. The Sacramento Kings took a shot with Isaiah Thomas and this was Isaiah's reaction after being asked "what did it feel like being last pick?" Isaiah responded with something that is so inspirational saying "All I ever wanted was a chance". When first hearing this I thought well if I was him I would have wanted to be drafted even higher and to a better team but what he responded made me think. After all his hard work, and dedication to the game of basketball, he would have been happy even if he was undrafted but he was even happier he got the chance he needed to prove himself. This shows true confidence in yourself and being self– assured that he would get the job done and be given his chances after. Isaiah Thomas was also elected into the 2017 all star ... • 5. The Importance Of Academic Writing The academic writing process has been around for ages, so the attributes that a scholarly piece, such as this one, must possess in order to be efficient are no secret. All academic pieces of writing must have a mix of the following qualities: objectivity, accuracy, and complexity. These attributes must remain intact and must not waiver throughout each step of the writing process. This very process that forces students to set creativity aside is proposed to assist in critical thinking skills, writing skills, and embracing of a higher complexity of vocabulary, among other things, is often given much more credit than is truly due. Both authors that wrote Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses conducted a study that took... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Breaking down each stage of the process and setting shorter–term milestones and deadlines is also recommended. Although many students will continue to procrastinate their papers, the students that actively participate in the introductory stage of planning are setting themselves up to adopt this efficient time management method in other facets of daily life. Most of the truly genuine planning occurs in this stage. Once students have a keen understanding of what they're being asked to do, they can continue to the planning stage of the writing process. In the planning stage, students do most of their research on their respective topics. It's important that the main objective of the paper remain in the forefront of students' research, given that the first few searches that come up may not be relevant to their topics. In this stage, students learn what it means to remain vigilant and not wander from the task at hand. Students will encounter frustration regarding the relevancy of search results; however, this frustration leads to learning how to craft efficient search queries regarding their topic. Students should deconstruct their topic into various key points that must be addressed, then research and gather information distinct to said points. Depending on the individual, gathering citations can be interchangeable between steps. One may argue that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Bucs's NFL Draft Well, Bucs fans, the first day of this year's NFL draft is in the books. The Bucs did manage to find Buffalo to trade out of the number 7 spot, which was the smart thing to do after Saquon Barkley, Bradley Chubb and Quenton Nelson were all of the board at that time, as expected. So Tampa Bay ended up trading the 7th overall pick for the 12th pick and another two 2nd rounders, which was a brilliant move. Picking up Vita Vae, Defensive Tackle out of Washington, might have come as a surprise to many, yet it was a solid pickup. The Chris Baker experiment did not pan out. Now Licht is looking to seek help alongside Gerald McCoy by using his first rounder on the best Defensive Tackle available this year. Vita Vae is 6'4'' and weighs 347 lbs. He ... Northern Vietnam wanted to spread communism to the Southern part of Vietnam while the Southern part wanted democracy. Many people opposed the war because it was a foreign war and the U.S had no business digging its nose into it. Others claimed that it was intervening with Vietnam's own independence. During the war the U.S had "drafted" many poor american citizens to fight in the war. Being drafted meant that you were being conscripted into the war because you meet the physical and mental standards to fight in the war. Some people didn't think that it was fair and fled the country or lied to the federal government. Those people were called "draft dodgers" ( people who got out of the... What many Americans didn't know was at the time the only action where no unnecessary americans were killed was choosing not to further entregue the the Vietnam forces. If we were to carelessly decided to drop an atomic bomb Vietnam had the power to do the same. To draft–dodgers this meant that they would have joined a war that would only end (at the time all things pointed to it) in a cosmic disaster. This release from Cronkite, who at the time was a very well trusted journalist, influenced people to have the same decision, that joining the war would either end in a nuclear war between both nations, the death of hundreds of thousands of more soldiers, or the invasion of the North which would escalate to more ... • 9. The NFL Fining Players Anonymous – Dolphin Hour – 8 Edited by – – NFL Fining Players Imagine a person fresh out of college getting fined thousands of dollars. This happens all of the time in the NFL. The bad thing is they're not even breaking the law. Players are breaking the rules in the NFL and get fined. The reason behind all of this is to keep a fair game between the franchises. Yet these people make thousands and thousands of dollars anyways. Does fining even make a difference to them anyways? Some say the NFL fining its players is a good thing. In the NFL there are many things that can cause a fine to a player. According to Jason Plautz players in the NFL can get fines for simply changing the color of their shoes (Mental Floss). Excessive celebration is a common way to get fined usually in the endzone. Only certain celebrations that would include fans or messing with the pylons and actions along those lines can result in a fine to a player. Also making contact with a referee in any way, which can be known in some cases as unsportsmanlike conduct will cause a fine in the direction of that player. Punching and kicking a player from the opposing team will get a player fined. In some cases tackling the quarterback after he has thrown the ball is illegal and the NFL will fine the player, and also late hits and cut blocking are illegal. The interesting thing is a player can avoid a fine, if there is no penalty flag thrown because of their actions. In the NFL there have been fines ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advisors are not losing sleep over late dissertation proposals and journal editors aren't agonizing over missing manuscripts. The project is more important to you than anyone else. Set up a meeting with your advisor with the plan of having the entire proposal done. If you realize, a few days before the meeting, that a complete draft won't be possible, ask whether you can turn in an incomplete draft annotated with specific questions you have about the gaps. If a journal editor asks for an estimated date for the revision, reply that you'll try to return the manuscript within a month unless there are unforeseen problems. Then, if glitches arise, you can contact the editor with a revised estimate of completion. Give yourself some leeway. In this essay I intend to analysis how effective the redrafts of the poem 'Anthem For Doomed Youth' by comparing the first and final drafts. I will go about this task by comparing and contrasting the parts of the poem, which have been change to the ones, which appeared in the final draft. The first change that one is confronted with is the change of the title. Owen begins with the word 'dead', which is changed to 'doomed'. The reason for changing this is because it makes the readers first impressions very deep. The word 'doomed' hits closer to home than the word 'dead' as doomed creates image sin the readers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word fast seems to not be as exploitive enough to help convey the message Owen is attempting to create. This again helps emphasise the 'Pity of War'. In line two the reference to guns is changed from 'our' to 'the' this creates a sense of opposition within the poem again linking in with what the nature of war and creating a sense of 'them' and 'us' this is a very small change but it suggests to the reader that there is no end due to the fact that if the enemy does not stop their fighting then they cannot either. The overall impact of the line of 'the guns' makes the whole connotation seem much more sinister and threatening. In the third line there is a significant change of the phrases Owen uses. It is clear that in the first draft Owen uses personification to an extent that the reader could say he is trying to hard. He then changes technique to one of alliteration and creates a line of 'riffles rapid fire' which is much harder hitting again keeping in the line with the way that Owen is conveying the 'Pity of War' but he also keeps in trend with the two structures of the poem. The line 'riffles rapid fire' has a sense of speed to it, which is what the first stanza is all about. 'Stuttering' is also a significant word, as the action to stutter is to do something again and again just like the gunfire that the soldiers would be subject to. • 14. Vietnam War As A Civic Duty And A True Testament Vietnam In the 1960s, America found itself divided among various social matters. Conformity, civil rights, and the Vietnam war. While the older generations viewed fighting in the war as a civic duty and a true testament to what it meant to be an "American", the counterculture did not share this belief. Regardless of how anyone felt about the war, it had escalated to epic proportions and as one citizen put it, "It was on our mind every single hour of the day" (PBS CITE). Vietnam was the first war ever to be televised, and with that came constant coverage and a growing concern from young Americans. In addition, the military draft made matters worse by forced the youth America to fight. "By 1968, the war in Vietnam had claimed over 15,000 American lives"(CITE PBS). Between the draft and the growing American casualties, greater tension in the US was created. Young Americans had to ask themselves if the war was worth fighting. Opposition to the draft and draft evasion was the central plot element in Hair with Claude 's indecision of whether or not to serve his country in Vietnam–a war he does not believe in (Young, 1993, p. 71). Claude represent most of the youth of America and their confusion which was ignited by the war. His internal conflict is depicted in the song "Where do I Go": "Where do I go/ Follow the children (...) Is there an answer / In their sweet faces / That tells me why I live and die" (SONG CITE). • 17. Personal Reflection : My High School Experience In Writing As my Writing 39C course comes to a close, now is a great time to look at the journey I have taken to get here. I'll start with my high school experience with writing. Although, I wasn't a terrible writer, I didn't strive to be the best writer I could be. Although I had a decent writing skill, enough to pass the AP English exam at least, I never really pushed my writing abilities to anything beyond the minimum amount needed to pass with a decent grade. Once I got to college, however, writing was a different story. When I came into Writing 39B, I felt it would be something similar to my experiences in my high school AP English classes. Do the assignments with a minimal amount of work in order to get a decent grade, and just pass the class. However, as the course proceeded, I learned that I actually needed to make an effort to apply skill to my writing in order to do well. This was the first time I actually had to rigorously challenge my current skills in order to improve. As 39B came to a close, I felt that I had actually improved my composition skill. Writing 39C was now where I solidified and revised some of the techniques I learned in 39B, broke some bad habits, and worked to understand my style of writing. Working through the Historical Conservation Project (HCP) and Advocacy Project (AP), I have pushed myself to improve my writing skill. Although I have learned a lot throughout this quarters here at UCI, I want to emphasize three main areas that I have made great strides in: research, drafting, and revision. Research I came into Writing 39C with some formal lessons on how to research, mainly from high school. However, since I was taught those lessons years ago, I came into Writing 39C with a clear head. My primary research focus throughout the quarter was on copyright law and how the current law is out of touch with the Internet age. I got this idea from a course I took in the previous quarter. The course was on cyberspeech and gaming, with a focus on obscenity laws and, the thing I found most interesting, copyright and fair use. Given my interest in the topic and slight familiarity, I chose to tackle the problem of copyright law and fair use. Starting my research, I immediately went to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Working on a research paper is something I admire, because it involves a process that can be useful in various ways, and is applicable to a variety of situations. What I like most about research papers is the fact that it assists me in developing better organizational and planning skills. Preparing research papers are always challenging, especially for someone who lacks experience and motivation. A research paper requires time and effort, most students that I have seen tend to give up during the end of their research paper. This shows the lack of confidence they have and the inexperience to push on. Conducting a research paper also requires patience; at times you will go through a period of frustration and anxiety. The first step to go about creating a research paper is to find and choose a topic. Finding a topic that would interest and challenge you at the same time is essential. Your attitude to the topic may well determine the amount of effort and enthusiasm you put into your research. Before proceeding with the paper, I would recommend each student to obtain permission from a teacher for the topic they chose. Some topics might be to offensive and hurtful, therefore it is preferable to have the consent of a teacher first. Proceeding without the permission of the teacher will only bring doubt and uncertainty to your paper. The next step is one that most people find challenging, and this is to browse the internet and look for information that goes with the topic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After running through the course, I've noticed that my papers required many adjustments that would've been uncalled for last year. Uncharacteristically for my stubborn personality, I forced myself to accept that I am at fault, rather than the very tempting anchor to praise, and looked back at my errors to improve. One of the most pressured lessons I have learned in the course was the important of revising my papers and getting other people to look over my writing. In high school, most revision was mostly looking for errors, such as wrong words, punctuation, and grammar. For the majority, students did not critic the content itself. While these are still problems that I need to fix, the revision process also now includes others analyzing the overall quality and understanding of the work. As the writer, I have difficulties in finding how others may not understand my flow of ideas since everything makes sense to me. In Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried, he emphasizes a chapter on "The Man I Killed", which describes the characteristics of a young Vietnamese man in which O'Brien may or may not have killed with a grenade. The novel is not chronologically sequenced, which leaves more room for the reader to engage in a critical thought process that fully bridges the author's mind to their own. In O'Brien's chapter, "The Man I Killed", he attempts to humanize the enemy in a way that draws little separation between the enemy and himself by relating the enemy's life prior to the war to his, and illustrates the war through the eyes of the soldiers who fought it. An example of the negative effects of of rent seeking can be found in occupational licenses. While occupational licenses were noted for increasing income by 15% over the free market value of an occupation, they are also charged with inhibiting entrepreneurship (especially among low income workers), raising prices, and lowering productivity . In fact, a 2011 study even indicated that the existence of occupational licenses may be responsible for removing as many 2.85 million jobs from the US economy . Given that rent seeking has been blamed for income inequality, job loss, and lower economic productivity, it is no surprise that there have been a variety of academic works on the subject. • 26. New York Jets Case Study To start the 2018 off–season, the New York Jets had one of the biggest cap spaces in the league. It's fair to say that they took advantage, making many marquee signings. This roster is going to look very different from last year after a revamp of the cornerback group and quarterback room to name a couple of positions. Let's look at who will make the final 53 man roster. Josh McCown (left) and rookie QB Sam Darnold (right) Quarterback: Starter: Josh McCown Depth: Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold Cut: N/A After failed 2nd –round pick Christian Hackenberg was traded to the Raiders for a 7th–round pick, I don't expect any changes to the QB room in New York. He's a very quick, agile corner who had the fastest 40 yard dash time at the combine at 4.32. Out of the players who I think will be cut, Rashard Robinson has been the biggest disappointment, after trading a 5th round pick for him in the middle of the 2017 season, he had 2 tackles in 6 games and the Jets will be glad to put this behind them. On The Rainy River And John Strickland : Draft Dodger ' The Internal Conflict When the Vietnam war took place, many people protested against it as they believed that the war's purpose was illogical and unreasonable. Many people tried to protest against it in different ways; for example, men who were drafted to the war fled the country – as a form of protest – in order to dodge the draft. Stories like "On the Rainy River" and "John Strickland: Draft Dodger" show how men reacted when they were drafted to the Vietnam War, a war which they were opposed to. In the story "On the Rainy River"– the story was written by an author was also named Tim O'Brien just like the main character in the story – O'Brien was opposed to the war as he believed that the war was unjust and unreasonable and saw it as unnecessary. He tried to flee the country to dodge the draft but he couldn't bring himself to do it as he felt too guilty and ashamed of his decision to avoid fighting in the war. However, in the story "John Strickland: Draft Dodger"– the story was written by John Strickland himself – Strickland, a man who also disagreed with the reason for the war, fled the country as he didn't believe in fighting in a war which had no solid purpose. From his perspective, fleeing the country to dodge the draft was his way of protesting against the war. Both Strickland and O'Brien didn't agree or support the war for similar reasons. It truly ignited a conversation in the United States on both sides of the aisle. But how did we get to this point? With four quarterbacks expected to go early in the 2018 NFL Draft, here's why Gang Green should not waste their time signing him. The conspiracies associated with the reason why the USA joined the Vietnam War led to massive resistance against the draft in the early 1970's. In response to being picked in the draft, many Americans fled to Canada because American citizens believed that the federal government had selfish and unreasonable intentions in joining the war in Vietnam, which was to destroy the spread of communism. The intentions of the federal government when joining the Vietnam War relates to The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien because Tim O'Brien also considered dodging the draft and immigrating to Canada but as a consequence of social pressure, the guilt he felt resulted in the change of his mindset.
