Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson was born in Cairo. The year Jackie was born was 1919 to a family of farmers. His
Mother name is Mallie Robinson. She raised Jackie and four other of her children. They were the
only black family around and people gave them a hard time about living around them since they
were the only black family on the block. Jackie was the very first black baseballplayer ever to join
the white man s league.
Jackie Robinson started playing baseball in 1947. He was the first player who played in the black
man league and joined the white man team. He was used to playing in the Negro League and the
style of play; it was a hard transition for Jackie to get used to the white man league. Jackie was the
main symbol of hope to millions of people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He challenged the segregation with the North and South of the Baseball teams all around.
Jackie Robinson rookie season was one of his best years. He gave hope to players and people
everywhere. Kids looked up to him because he changed the history of baseball. He was National
League Rookie of the year. Jackie had 12 homers and had 29 steals. He had a .297 average. Jackie
won MVP of the year and also won batting title with a .342 average the same year he won MVP.
Jackie had become introduced into the Baseball Hall of fame in 1962.
In 1946 Jackie met a lady student name Rachel Imus. She practiced nursing at UCLA. As an
African American Jackie was watched by the whole country and judged. Rachel and their
children, Jackie Jr., Sharon and David, provided Jackie with support and sense of pressure
toward baseball. Jackie s brother Robinson gave Jackie the inspiration to purse his athletics. His
brother Mathew won a silver medal in the 200 meter dash and was behind Jesses Owens at the
Olympic Games in 1936 in Berlin.
Jackie continued his education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he became the
university s first student to win varsity letters in four sports. In 1941, despite his athletic success,
Robinson was forced to leave UCLA just shy of graduation due to financial hardship. He moved to
Hawaii, where he played football for the Honolulu Bears. His season with the Bears was cut short

Essay on Mississippi s Freedom Summer
Rationale
Although I wasn t in Mississippi during the Freedom Summer , I had a solid understanding of
how life was during the Freedom Summer . This was years of racism and segregation towards
the blacks in the US during the Civil Rights Movement. My aspect type was racism, and I
learned of its impact on life through our analysis in the class of The Color Purple (1982) by Alice
Walker, an epistolary novel about the lives of black people in rural dominated white racist Georgia
during the 1920 s 50 s. Furthermore, we discussed Nelson Mandela s Inaugural Speech in class, and
how Mandela fought for Independence from the white racist government. With extra research of the
Freedom Summer project launched by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating ... Show more content

Our student committee is dedicated to achieving their goals using non violence. Even though, we
face serious violence, from the police and others in Mississippi my passion for the cause drove me
to join. What happened in the 1962 elections should never be repeated. Imagine, only 6.7% of
eligible black voters registered, the lowest in the whole country!
In orientation, we were taught (with a guest appearance of Robert Parris Moses, the director of the
project!) of opening Freedom Houses, Freedom Schools and community centers throughout
Mississippi. Here, African Americans realize their history and constitutional rights. Nevertheless
the most valuable thing we teach is black voting rights. Believe me, being dedicated to nonviolence
in the midst of violence is a passionate commitment.
Our goal is to help out in the freedom school in Mount Zion Methodist Church in Longdale. With
a lot of courage and inspiration, I couldn t wait. However, when I reached the church, I entered a
comprehensive state of shock; I couldn t believe my eyes. The freedom school was burned down.
As a devoted Christian, I couldn t believe that someone would burn down a church, the place of
God! I stood there

Why Take on Year Round Schooling? Pop quiz, lets see what you remember. Often people realize,

kind of stress when year round education can fix that so simply. Even though year round schooling
is uncommon, it will make a positive impact on society. In the United States there are only 3,181
year round schools that exist, but the number is still continuing to grow. Year round schooling
promotes higher levels of excellence for students and schools all around. Although year round

Not only do test scores seem to go up, but also the retention rates of students rise when in year
round schooling.
In addition, kids in school often struggle with the lack of ability to remember what they learned the
year before.YearВround schooling can help students with this problem.
According to Grace Chen, an outstanding education researcher and writer in the article
Year Round Vs Traditional Schedule in Public Schools she stated that children often lose skills in
math and language art over summer break, they also have to readapt to school schedules, teachers,
school expectations and homework deadlines. This shows that students go through a lot of stress to
readapt to school over their long summer break and that results in the loss of concrete skills needed
to succeed in school.
Students would not have to relearn what they forget over the summer since they would only be
out of school, for at the most, three weeks at a time. They would return ready to pick up where
they left off. Research shows that kids forget most of what they learn in the first three weeks after
a lesson, so having your kid in yearВround schools would help

keep what they learned with them all the way through the school year. In fact, kids typically forget
up to one to three months of school skills over the summer vacation, making the time for review a
lot longer than needed in yearВround schooling. Also over the summer the more important skills

Research Paper On Teenagers And Plastic Surgery
American Teenagers and Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is not a new field of medicine. Traditionally, plastic surgery dealt with fixing
abnormalities of the body, but recently people are enjoying the luxury of plastic surgery simply
because they are not happy with their appearance. People make appointments with plastic surgeons
for procedures such as rhinoplasty, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast
augmentation. These people look forward to desired results from such procedures without
considering the risks. Many risks accompany plastic surgery, but they are rarely discussed in the
media. Death is even a possible conclusion of the surgery. Why would people subject themselves to
such conditions as having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Television shows such as Nip Tuck (FX), The Swan (ABC), Extreme Makeover (NBC), Doctor
90210 (E), and I Want a Famous Face (MTV) influence teenagers to alter their appearance.
Through watching these television shows young people are able to view common plastic surgery
procedures. These television shows that teens are viewing, however, lack an accurate depiction of
what could go wrong in any given plastic surgery procedure.
It is no question that peer pressure is a big issue when it comes to teenagers, but appearance can
literally become an emotional issue. Teens simply follow the norm of society and ask their
parents if they can get a nose job or even breast augmentation. It amazes me how many times I
have heard people tell me that they got a boob job for their graduation gift from their parents. Why
would parents permit their children to undergo the unnecessary risk of injury or even death? Not to
mention the cost of plastic surgery is extremely expensive.
Common procedures that teens undergo include: rhinoplasty, otoplasty, liposuction, face lifts, laser
hair removal, botox injections, collagen injections, and of course breast augmentation. Rhinoplasty
is the reshaping of the sculpture of the nose, and this procedure is the most customary among
teenagers. Otoplasty is the reshaping of the sculpture of the ears. These procedures range from
$3000 to $4000. Laser hair removal costs about $600. Collagen and botox injections, which get rid

Neoinoid Research Paper
Neonicotinoids are a form of pesticides/insecticides that are used for the protection of various
types of plants and crop and farm land. Neonicotinoid are a low risk pesticide to its environment
and the people. The pesticides/insecticides primarily only affects what they are meant for which is
pest control. Due to the low risk of Neonicotinoid, it became an important tool in the scientific
community that work with and study plants and crops.
In the 90s scientists worked and created a new type of insecticide (Shetlar, 2008, p.78). At first they
had the names chloro and thianicotinyls but, eventually those names were changed. When the new
improved products were placed on the market for use, the results had varied and issues had arisen.
The new pesticides/insecticides did not have a great affect in killing the insects and were causing
different problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The makers (Shell and Bayer) of these pesticides discovered that these pesticides were working
much better as preventative solutions (Shetlar, 2008, p.78). When the chemicals were focused as
a preventive rather than aggressively lethal, they were much more potent. One of the first
pesticides or neonicotinoids of this type to be sold was called Imidacloprid (Shetlar, 2008, P.78).
Imadacloprid is one of the most popular insecticides used of the neonicotinoid group, being
founded in 1992 (Fishel, 2005). Imadacloprid is by far the most popular and best selling of all
neonicotinoids. After first becoming available in the United States in 1994, imadacloprid is
utilized in hundreds of items and products being sold today (Hopwood, 2012,

Persuasive Speech For Your Address In Our School
Superintendent Crouse, Loveland Administration, and Loveland School Board Members, just
last year you vied for us to obtain our own tennis courts, which I use every week. As a result of
this, I hold very high regards and respect for you, and the fact that you care for all your students,
and want to do all you can to improve our school lives. For this, I know you are welcome to new
ideas, and I hope to be able to share mine without giving you the wrong impression, as I have no
intent to offend you in any way. My focus as of this moment is to change the course scheduling for
classes, so that we could have different weeks for different subjects, but still maintain a four block
day. The ideacame to me from my French class, on account of the fact that the French actually do
this at their schools.
In further details, it would mean that for two weeks we, the student population, would have half of
our classes, as long as there are no complications which I will explain later. The next two weeks,
however, we will have the other half of our classes, excluding special cases, again. As I know,
there are some flaws, as there are in every good idea. One such problem we could, no would run
into, would have to be if a student were to take 2 classes that have to be taken in a consecutive
order. To solve this problem, all that would have to be done is a bit of extra tampering with their
scheduling, which would happen regardless of the new changes for some. Said student would just
have to revert back to block scheduling, and switch classes half way through the year as we do
now. In result, the student would get the classes they want, and the new schedule for their
remaining classes. Another problem that some may argue could arise is the fact of tests, quizzes,
homework, or finals, because we can t all have time turners. Taking two weeks off could
potentially affect some grades, but if you think about it, units really only take about two weeks to
explain and finish their complementary tests, and homework wouldn t overlap unless it were some
long term project. The reason these flaws would be worth the extra time and effort to get through
would be the extra focus students would gain. I find that I do better at the beginning of the

Mapp V. Ohio
Landmark cases are brought to the attention of the Supreme Court due to their historical and legal
significance. Generally these types of cases question the application or interpretation of a certain
law and usually concern an individual s rights and liberties. The three most common amendments
challenged include; the First Amendment, the Fourth Amendment and the Fourteenth Amendments.
In the case Mapp v. Ohio, Dollree Mapp claims that the decision made in lower court violated her
fourth amendment rights.
On May 23, 1957, police officers received word that Dollree Mapp, a resident of Cleveland, Ohio
was said to be quartering a suspected bomber. Three police officers later arrived at her house and
asked to enter which she refused. While one of them stayed, the two others left and soon came
back with other officers. They returned with a piece of paper in hand; however, Mapp took it from
them and shoved it in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, the State of Ohio argued, the Fourteenth Amendment does not forbid the
admission of evidence obtained by an unreasonable search and seizure in state courts. The state also
brought up the point that the Tenth Amendment gives states the right to operate a separate court
system. In response to this, Mapp argued, the exclusionary rule applied in the federal courts should
be taken into consideration in state courts.
Elkins v. United States acted as a precedent for the case and dealt with the exclusionary rule. In this
case the Court ensured that no one should be convicted due to unlawful evidence at either the State
or federal level. In the perspective of the State of Ohio, they said that due to the Tenth Amendment
the states operate on a different level. However, the Tenth Amendment does state that powers not
listed in the Constitution are reserved to the states or people, it does not give the state court the
power to conduct illegal searches and

On Friday, May 18, I attended the Burrell High School Jazz Band Concert. Over the concert, a band
played for the first half, there were then chamber groups that played in between, the second band
next, and then a combined band with alumni. I felt that the structure of the concert flowed nicely, as
the chamber musicin between was refreshing from the jazz. My favorite chamber piece was an
African piece involving bongos and soprano saxophone. There was no theme to the music that was

Pancho Villa, The Bandit
Pancho Villa was smart but tricky. Villa made a deal that in exchange for a quiet, humble life he
wouldn t join anything dealing with politics. Three years later, former president Venustiano
Carranza was assassinated by Obregon s agents. Obregon was a general in the Mexican Revolution,
a colleague of Carranza, and an enemy of Villa. With this assassination, Carranza appointed
Obregon to be President, but Villa ran as well. Obregon knew he had no chance against Villa, so
Obregon slayed him. Although Villa fought and got Mexico a better government, people were
against his efforts to be president and hated the fact that he wiped out a whole family, robbed killed,

one of the leaders of the Revolution, that automatically put an aim on his back. This is the situation

U.s. Sneezes Canada Will Catch A Cold
With Canada and the United States being neighbours, the common saying goes that if the U.S.
sneezes Canada will catch a cold . When it came to the housing bubble both countries experienced
marginally different outcomes. Canada was able to shield itself from the effects of the Financial
Crisis due to its regulatory system, corporate governance and strong banking systems (Lynch,
2010). The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OFSI) regulates the Canadian
banks; the regulation is in accordance with the BankAct of 1992 and is regularly updated to find
ways to protect the banking system from falling (Lynch, 2010). The top six Canadian banks are

The premiums charged are risk adjusted and could be paid upfront or as an annuity. As of June
2015, the premiums will go up for Canadian mortgages with down payments lower than ten percent.
The use LMIs and other depository insurances such as CDIC are crucial to the understanding of
how the Canadian banking system is resistant to economic downturns. The use of protocols and
regulations allow financial institutions to reduce their risk and guarantee the repayment of their
loans (Saunders al, 2014).
U.S. Perspective
The banking system in the US deviates from Canada, the banks are regulated at the state level and
therefore could never mimic the sophisticated banking structure of their neighbours (Saunders et
al, 2014). There were many red flags early on that should have been questioned by the Federal
Reserve. First of all, some of the worst practices in the housing market were in place and known
to the public. Appraisers were overvaluing properties, banks were paying credit companies for the
rating of their bonds and mortgage backed securitizes loosened their standards (Baker, 2008). This
is the equivalence of taking the debt and moving it elsewhere with no worry of when and how the
repayment would occur. The biggest red flag that was not addressed was the rapid

Comparison Of Cathy And Abra In John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
The personalities of the two most influential women in John Steinbeck s novel East of Eden,
Cathy and Abra, are complex. One is evil, and the other is good. Despite their different
personalities, they are surprisingly similar. Moreover, the women s involvement in the story
portrays the cycle of good conquering evil. Steinbeck describes Cathy as the Eve of the Trask
family and depicts her as serpentlike and catlike. Her sly and calculated personality prevents her
from completing a task without precise and careful planning. Therefore, when Cathy, a being who
lacks a certain aspect of humanity, initially meets Adam Trask, she sees a weak, motherless, puppy
like man she can easily manipulate. She acts under the false pretense of what Adam longed for the

Comparing Cinema And Psychoanalysis
Both Cinema and Psychoanalysis were born at the end of the 19th century. They share a common
historical background shaped by the changes that modernity imposed over the Western societies.
Perhaps, this is one of the reasons why psychoanalysis influenced cinema so much. At the time the
brothers LumiГЁre were screening the first results of the cinematograph , Freud and Joseph Breuer
had recently published their studies on Hysteria (The Guardian, 2001). In this essay I will analyse
how my way of understanding and reading films has changed because of the acknowledgement of
Freud s psychoanalytic theories and their influence on film. (Hill, Gibson, 1998)

Before then, psychologists like Wundt and Skinner had concentrated in the introspective analysis of
the normal human mind. There were aiming to unmask the conscience, showing it like a puppet at
the mercy of primitive impulses. They studied human actions and reactions to these impulses, but
not the mental processes surrounding them. Mental illnesses were considered organic ; it was
thought that they were produced by some kind of deterioration or disease of the brain (LLC,
2016) . The research done around mental illness tried to discover what changes of the brain would
lead to insanity. Many diseases did not show any physical mental damage but it was assumed that
the techniques were not yet sufficient. The psychological causes were ignored. Freud changed this
perspective forever (Silverman, 1985).
Freud was reluctant to the fusion of psychoanalysis and film. He rejected several offers from
major studios to write scripts and he disliked being filmed or photograph (The Guardian, 2001).
This did not stop his theories from leaving a mark in film. His explanation of the human mind
presented cinema with a full range of ideas to develop and expand

Throughout my years as a scholar I never quite enjoyed the process of summer work, especially

For one, I like to enjoy my summer without thoughts of school (though this was nearly
impossible being a rising senior), and I go through the process of forgetting school, by ignoring
my summer work up till the night before the first day of classes. However, this year I made an
active decision to start my summer reading early, and I m glad I did so. As I was scrolling through

Speech On Teenagers
Taking the mask off: It s time to stop being someone we aren t
In today s day and age, there s a common problem that each teenger inevitably faces along the
way through adolescence. We try to find out who we are and what we want to become, but this
is becoming ever more difficult. Nowadays in the age of technology, we have thousands of
people around that rub off on us one way or the other. We have all of these influences around us,
most of whom are either non beneficial or unattainable. These, along with the ever present peer
pressure, make us become someone that s far away from who we really are, something that we
should attempt to move on from. It seems like today the overwhelming question for teenagers is
should they put on a fake persona for the sake of being accepted or live every day unfiltered at the
risk of being scrutinized?
When we step outside the friendly confines of our home, we prepare a face to show to the rest of
the world, one that shows we are living a great life and having everything going right for us. We
are expected to always put on a persona and show that our lives our great. On social media, we
all post pictures of us in our best moments; We show when we re on vacation, when we re at a
bonfire with friends, or when we re sitting in the suite level at a sporting event. However, we
never show the negatives; the times when we get a bad grade, a family member is sick, or an

Canine Hip Dysplasia
This study was designed to determine the genetic correlations between canine hip dysplasia
(CHD) and canine elbow dysplasia (CED) in German shepherds. The study was extended to the
genetic correlation of the dogs diagnosed as borderline for both hip and elbow dysplasia. Hip
dysplasia is abnormal formation of the hip socket causing a painful arthritis in the joints; it is a
polygenic trait affected by environmental factors. Elbow dysplasia is caused by abnormal growth
of cells, vague tissue, or bone resulting in elbow pain. Materials used were radiographic
examination data taken from the German breeding association for German Shepherd dogs (GSD).
These examinations recorded of hip joints associated with CHD and elbow joints associated with

This study was done with 843 German shepherd dogs, because German shepherds are the largest
purebred dog population in Europe with an estimated 35% prevalence for CHD (large number for
phenotypic and genetic variance). Within the total of 843 German shepherds only 405 were males
and 438 were females. The control was the birth season; only dogs born between 2000 2005 were
included in this study. In the study, they used radiographs, CHD scores, and EDTA blood samples
for all the dogs from the official guidelines of the Federation Cynologique International (FCI). CHD
scores were scaled by CHD A being normal hip joints, CHD C having slight signs of CHD, CHD D
with moderate signs, and CHD E had severe signs of CHD. Only 277 out of 843 were CHD A
classified as unaffected and 557 were CHD C, CHD D, or CHD E classified as affected for the
purpose of this study. Various techniques were used in this study to find the SNPs associated
with CHD like PCR products, NucleoSpin Kit 96, PTC and , DYEnamic ET Terminator Cycle
Sequencing Kit,, and many more. A GeneMapper was used to evaluate the data of the study. As
they studied 37 SNPs in 95 CHD cases, those SNPs were located in 13 dog chromosomes (CFA1,
3, 4, 8, 9, 16, 19, 26, 29, 32, 33, 34, and 35);

The Literary Genre Of 2 Peter
The literary genre of 2 Peter is an epistle written to the main personalities, an implied group of
believers in Asia Minor and other places around that region. The author is the Apostle Peter a
dedicated servant and disciple of Jesus. The date that the letter was written has some
controversy, however, in his correspondence Peter mentions that his life is coming to an end, and
Peter was martyred for his faith in Rome about A.D. 64 67. Therefore, establishing the date of
Peter s second letter within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the
immutable word of God. The letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees about false
teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in their faith. Peter goes on to
explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and
disrespect to God. (Life Application Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past,
such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will
come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will
mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. He advises the believers to have confidence in
the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God s inspired word. (Hindson, Towns)
Peter cautions God will return without warning and find individuals unwary. However, Peter
reasons that God is patient and delays His return for unbelievers, not

Essay On Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
The Diagnosis and Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
There are many factors to consider in the evaluation and treatment of Obsessive compulsive
disorder (OCD). This paper will discuss the strategies that have proven most effective in treating the
disorder, including: drug therapy, cognitive therapy, and family based therapy. It will focus on the
benefits of flexibility, emphasizing combination therapy, especially with cognitive behavioral
therapy (CBT).
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) has become an increasingly familiar disorder within the
world of health and medicine. The recurring obsessions and compulsions associated with the
disorder seem quite easy to identify, yet the acknowledgement of OCD in children had ... Show

In this method, patients are guided into conscious confrontation with the objects and situations that
serve as the triggers of their obsessive fears. Following exposure, patients are taught how to abstain
from the obsessive habits that they have constructed to relieve their anxieties. This treatment is
quite similar to conditioning in that the response prevention immediately follows the exposure,
maximizing the reinforcement effectiveness of the therapy. The idea behind this treatment is that
repeated exposure to the anxiety producing stimulus leads to the patient s habituation and
progression in overcoming the disorder. Additionally, the realization that obsessive fears do not
materialize during ERP appears to reduce the potency of the obsessions (Wagner, 2000).
The second form of CBT that has proven to be successful is the RIDE theory. In this theory,
encounters and enactments of OCD symptoms are broken down into four different stages: R, I, D,
and E. In the R stage, individuals are taught to recognize OCD thoughts as impractical to the child s
normal being. By doing this they could realize their urges and take the necessary steps in dismissing
them from their consciousness. Once they have done this they are taught the I stage. In this stage
they must insist that they are in fact in control of their behavior. This assertion puts them in the
driver s seat where they

The Importance Of Osmosis In Science
Osmosis has long been taught to students, especially those in high school or introductory science
classes, as a simple variation of diffusion. Because osmosis is the first of many natural phenomena
understood by students, it is important that it is understood correctly. This however, is not the case.
In fact, discrepancies exist between how osmosisis taught and understood between physics and
chemistryor biology [1]. Moreover, since the agreement of the real processes involved within the
physics community back in 1951, no progress has been made with osmosis in biology and
chemistry education [2].
What makes these discrepancies a topic of discussion is not that they exist, but rather, that they
exist and are prevalent in education. In fact, these discrepancies are speculated to be harmful to the
understanding of many biological and chemical processes including blood circulation, kidney
function, fluid flow, and cell expansion in fruit and flowers [2]. According Eric M. Kramer, a
professor of physics at Bard College at Simon s Rock, once errors such as these are learned they
influence thinking throughout ones professional career [1]. For this reason, it is clear that this
issue is pressing in relation to a proper understanding of many biological and chemical processes.
Above all else, what exactly is osmosis? Where does the currently accepted understanding in
biology and chemistry differ from physics? The answer lies in five misconceptions, as explained
by Kramer and Myers

Physical And Emotional Health Of Exercise
Living the best life one can possibly achieve is a common objective among humans. To accomplish
this, one must reach a beneficial harmony in their physical, mental and emotional health. Exercise
is well known for its plentiful habits and can help individuals reach this accord. Physically,
exercise improves muscle tone, lowers body fat, blood pressure, and cholesterol, and increases
energy. Overtime, the body will work effectively and efficiently with little effort. The mental
benefits of exerciseallow for a healthy self esteem, reduce stress levels, and aid in setting and
achieving goals. With increased physical and mental boosts, the emotional status of a person who

In 2004, Szabo and Griffiths conducted a study on the importance of exercise for sport science
students compared to general exercisers. They found that exercise addiction was twice as high at
6.9% than the rest of the population at 3.6%. Based on this data, it was concluded that exercise
students were simply committed to their sports studies both personally and professionally (Szabo
Griffiths, 2004, p. 27).
Among athletes, exercise addiction was found in 52% of triathletes with 26% being male runners
and 25% female runners (Berczik et al., 2012). Besides these sports, Krivoschekov and Lushnikov
(2011) found addiction to exercise in those practicing sports such as martial arts, weightlifting,
athletics, and bodybuilding. Addiction was also observed in people performing exercises for health.
Individuals that did exercise purely for health were motivated by the rewards of weight regulations
and good health (Lichtenstein, Larsen, Christiansen, StГёving, Bredahl, 2014).
Symptoms
Licensed clinical professionals can assess the distinctiveness of exercise addiction by using
assessment tools and clinically significant psychological indicators. Assessments tools such as the
Exercise Addiction Inventory (EAI) are a valid and reliable way for general practitioners to quickly

What is Digital Angel?
Digital Angel is a location and condition system that can alert you of the exact location or people,
pets, or objects in real time. When you purchase the system, it comes with a clip on system monitor
and a ThermAlert watch. It will alert you when if the person wearing is in trouble, and since the
monitor is accompanied with a Global Positioning System (GPS), you can pinpoint the person s
location to 75 feet. You can also check the status of the person at any time of the day through a
hotline, or visiting the website. A weekly report is also given showing dates and times, alerts,

One of the main issues brought up in putting this sort of product out to the public is the privacy
issue. There is somebody who knows where the user is, every second of every day. With this,
great deal of privacy and security is at risk. This kind of knowledge is very tempting for those
who may not have the best intentions. Management may misuse or sell the information that the
product provides. People have almost no protection from businesses that want to use your
personal records for profit, so who is to stop them from doing it? The GPA can be used to
develop precisely targeted information concerning thier personal habits. Hackers also may be
able to access information for their own personal gain. Another issue brought up is the reliance on
databases. A slight error in the information can have a major effect on somebody s life. It is
extremely difficult to detect inaccurate information in databases. There have been many cases of
database errors ruining people s lives. Is it right to record somebody s personal information when
there is room for human error?

Religion, Overpopulation And The Environment
In the Baraka there are powerful Images, these images have an impact on the audience as they
are watching the film. In the film Baraka there are symbolic messages that many people might
not see or catch within the film. There are quite a few topics in the film, but the top three that I
could see are religion, overpopulation and the environment. The religion part of the film is about
people around the world that pray and worship gods, they have faith in a higher power which
gives them purpose and belief that there is a reason for what happens as they live on earth.
Overpopulation is a huge part of the environment but, it s a whole separate topic on it s own
because it has become a huge hazard in the world today. The environment is a big part of everyone
s future and well being with an impact that can affect generations to come..
For religion in my opinion, everyone prays differently, some paint their bodies with body paint
/ground up plants and pigments to use for sacred meetings and ceremonies and others gather in a
church to pray and read about their religion. Religion in most cases gives people a higher
purpose, helps them to believe there is a plan a divine intervention of sorts. It guides them in
their life and how they lead it. In a sense keeps people happy. Although it can guide them in some
case towards some acts of violence if interpreted in certain ways. Religion can be made from just a
group of people to a whole continent, but mostly it is all around the world

1.2Diversified into Bottles, Lodging, and Mineral Water in Early 20th Century
After Frederick Mead died in August 1915, John Stroyan, who succeeded Sydney Chambers a few
months earlier, became the most important figure in SAB management. Stroyan faced a serious
challenge the following year when hostilities during World War I interrupted the supply of bottles
to South Africa. SAB decided to establish its own bottle making plants in 1917. Actual production,
however, did not begin until 1919, the year the war ended.
Another economic depression beset South Africa after World War I, but steady growth in the
demand for beer reduced many of the detrimental effects of the depression. SAB was financially
strong enough in 1921 to purchase the Grand Hotel in Cape Town, an important addition to the
company s lodging business. SAB gained an interest in the mineral water business in 1925, when it
purchased a substantial interest in the Schweppes Company.
The Great Depression of the early 1930s had little effect on the South African brewing industry;
SAB continued to expand its operations and improve its facilities. The company s biggest
problems were shortages of labor and capital. The Spanish Civil War and rising political tensions in

Shonda Rhimes Roles In The Film Industry

one successful producer who, throughout her productions, addresses many intersection of life
Shonda Rhimes. She has successfully produced television shows such as Grey s Anatomy, How to
Get Away With Murder, and Scandal. She is also well known for her production company

As there are no real statistics on sexuality among film producers, and not many statistics on
sexuality in film period, there are not numbers to analyze, only facts and people. While Shonda
Rhimes identifies as a straight woman, married to a man, and has children, there are other
successful producers who identify differently. For example, Ellen DeGeneres is a very famous
producer, who even has her own show. She openly identifies as a lesbian and has been married
to Portia de Rossi since 2008, after California legalized unions between couples who identified as
LGBT. Ellen is also a strong advocate for LGBT rights ( Ellen DeGeneres ). Shonda uses Grey s
Anatomy as a platform to help support the LGBT community. Two very important characters, Dr.
Callie Torres and Dr. Arizona Robbins, identify as part of the LGBT community, Torres as
bisexual who was married to a man, then later met Robbins, who identifies as a lesbian. LGBT
issues have not been addressed much in the film industry until recent years, with shows and films
showing the hardships and real life struggles of the LGBT community. As these issues are brought
to light within society, for example the legalization of gay marriage in all 50 states, I believe that
the film industry will become more transparent to these issues that affect an estimated 9 million
people in the United States (Gates,

The association of length of residency with attitudes toward publicly provided community wide

Within economics _and despite the ubiquitous studies in the valuation literature that address
preference heterogeneity as it relates to measures of socioeconomic status (e.g. age, gender,
education and income) _ research that considers duration of residency as a potential source of
preferenceheterogeneity is relatively rare. Among the few available studies are Cho et al, (2005;

They require lots of time and planning because they are not something you accomplish in a short
amount of time; they usually take around 12 or more months to achieve. Three of my long term
goals are to be accepted into ATM in College Station, to then graduate with a doctorate in
Physical Therapy and last move to California where I can pursue a career as a pediatric physical
therapist. I need to think about what I want to achieve then plan short term goals to provide small
stepping stones to my large objective. I also need to picture what I want to actually happen so I

Coming from the South, Biscuits and Gravy have been my favorite breakfast meal ever since
my baby years. All Sothern s behave themselves in a casual way when it comes to biscuits and

throughout my hometown in Jonesboro, Arkansas. We ve had well known restaurants, such as
Cracker Barrel, Dixie CafГ© and Gina s Place, that are well known for their breakfast meals and
sandwiches that collect worthy business. But who doesn t love biscuits and gravy? Growing up in

It was now time to browse through the menu to see what kind of variety of biscuit sandwiches
they have to offer to us. Before looking at the variety of biscuit sandwiches, we looked at the
prices of each plate which had a range from 8 dollars to 10 dollars a meal. The prices seemed
mediocre so we didn t feel like we weren t going to spend too much money. There were a few
selections that would charge you if you added an egg to your sandwich, which only charges you
50 cents. Now it was time to make our selection of what to feast on and obviously, we re getting
different plates because we want to try each other s plate and swap bites. Without exaggeration, I
decided to tell the waitress, I ll have the Franklin with a hard egg . My wife said, I ll have the
DBC Club. Now the excitement was going through our bodies and impatience started to kick in
within minutes. With description, the Franklin is a biscuit sandwich that is packed with a
buttermilk fried chicken, tender belly bacon, and cheddar cheese with having the option of sausage
or vegetarian gravy. Of course, I went with the sausage gravy. The DBC Club consist of a biscuit
also stuffed with buttermilk fried chicken, tender belly bacon, cheddar cheese, shredded iceberg

There have been different definitions of Hospitality. Broadly speaking, Hospitality is the act of
kindness in welcoming and looking after the basic needs of guests or strangers, mainly in
relation to food, drink and accommodation. A contemporary explanation of Hospitality refers to
the relationship process between a guest and a host. When we talk about the Hospitality
Industry , we are referring to the companies or organisations which provide food and/or drink

Case and David out line
In the poem Casey at Bat and the story of David and Goliath when comparing there are
differences and similarities shown. The first similarity is that they both are in a losing period or
need help in winning the game or war. In Casey at Bat it says The Outlook wasn t brilliant for the
Mudville nine that day The score stood four to two, with but one inning more to play and in David
and Goliath it says Saul and his men heard what Goliath said, but they were so frightened of
Goliath that they couldn t do a thing . The reason for the the first quote from Casey at Bat is

quote shows the difference is by when Goliath says if I kill the Israelites soldier and David is
going to be the soldier, so that means he is going to die. In Casey at Bat how the quote shows the
difference is the quote is at the end and it doesn t say anything about him dieing and at the end.
The third and last difference is that in Casey at Bat it is just a game for show or entertainment
and in David and Goliath the people are fighting for a country and slavery. The evidence in
David and Goliath is is when the story says your people will be our slaves. and in Casey at Bat

Stacy Cummins, the newly hired controller at Merced Home Products, Inc., was disturbed by
what she had discovered about the standard costs at the Home Security Division. In looking over
the past several years of quarterly earnings reports at the Home Security Division, she noticed that
the first quarter earnings were always poor, the second quarter earnings were slightly better, the
third quarter earnings were again slightly better, and the fourth quarter always ended with a
spectacular performance in which the Home Security Division managed to meet or exceed its

When the products are run at a lower cost than the standard, then this produces a favorable variance.
The COGS and variance should net to the correct cost though (this is the reason the system creates
the variance).
The bigger problem here is that any inventory is likely to be overvalued because of wrong
standards. Finished goods inventory is valued at the standard cost. So if there is a lot of inventory
at an inflated cost, then the COGS is being reduced on the income statement too much because of
this. If the inventory were to be revalued at it s correct standard cost, there would be a large
expense to the income statement.
I would say he has been building inventory, more and more each quarter.

The standards are set too high. When the products are run at a lower cost than the standard, then
this produces a favorable variance. The cost of goods sold and variance should net to the correct
cost though and this is the reason the system creates the variance. Lansing set a loose standard

Indonesi A Model For Democracy
From being ruled by an authoritative government, Indonesia now has become a model for
democracy in Asia. Over the years, Indonesia has slowly made the transition to democracy. Its new
presidential election is clear evidence of this transition because the Indonesians chose to elect a
common man to be the president: an official who they thought would understand their struggles.
Within 15 years, Indonesia has transitioned from a bureaucratic authoritarian regime to a formal
presidentialism. The newly elected president has already taken steps toward implementing his
reforms which consists of pushing to cut down fuel subsidies, getting rid of corruption and
encouraging new businesses to invest in Indonesia by giving them tax incentives. These are clear
signs that consolidated liberal democracyin Indonesia has already taken place and that Indonesia
will continue to be a democratic country in the future.
Historians study history because they find it interesting and want to keep a thorough record of
events. However, political scientists study history in order to theorize and predict what caused
certain events and how history will have an impact on the future. One of the most important
theories in political science is Lipset s modernization theory. The first part of the theory states as
societies become more modern, they inevitably become more democratic. The second part of this
theory is that democracies lacking economic and cultural status tend not to last. Modernization only

This was years of racism and segregation towards the blacks in the US during the Civil Rights Movement. In orientation, we were taught (with a guest appearance of Robert Parris Moses, the director of the project!) of opening Freedom Houses, Freedom Schools and community centers throughout Mississippi. Here, African Americans realize their history and constitutional rights. Nevertheless the most valuable thing we teach is black voting rights. Not only do test scores seem to go up, but also the retention rates of students rise when in year round schooling. In addition, kids in school often struggle with the lack of ability to remember what they learned the year before.YearВround schooling can help students with this problem. According to Grace Chen, an outstanding education researcher and writer in the article Year Round Vs Traditional Schedule in Public Schools she stated that children often lose skills in math and language art over summer break, they also have to readapt to school schedules, teachers, school expectations and homework deadlines. This shows that students go through a lot of stress to readapt to school over their long summer break and that results in the loss of concrete skills needed to succeed in school. Students would not have to relearn what they forget over the summer since they would only be out of school, for at the most, three weeks at a time. They would return ready to pick up where they left off. Research shows that kids forget most of what they learn in the first three weeks after a lesson, so having your kid in yearВround schools would help Thielen 3 keep what they learned with them all the way through the school year. • 5. Research Paper On Teenagers And Plastic Surgery American Teenagers and Plastic Surgery Plastic surgery is not a new field of medicine. Traditionally, plastic surgery dealt with fixing abnormalities of the body, but recently people are enjoying the luxury of plastic surgery simply because they are not happy with their appearance. People make appointments with plastic surgeons for procedures such as rhinoplasty, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast augmentation. Through watching these television shows young people are able to view common plastic surgery procedures. These television shows that teens are viewing, however, lack an accurate depiction of what could go wrong in any given plastic surgery procedure. It is no question that peer pressure is a big issue when it comes to teenagers, but appearance can literally become an emotional issue. Teens simply follow the norm of society and ask their parents if they can get a nose job or even breast augmentation. It amazes me how many times I have heard people tell me that they got a boob job for their graduation gift from their parents. Why would parents permit their children to undergo the unnecessary risk of injury or even death? Not to mention the cost of plastic surgery is extremely expensive. Common procedures that teens undergo include: rhinoplasty, otoplasty, liposuction, face lifts, laser hair removal, botox injections, collagen injections, and of course breast augmentation. Rhinoplasty is the reshaping of the sculpture of the nose, and this procedure is the most customary among teenagers. Otoplasty is the reshaping of the sculpture of the ears. In further details, it would mean that for two weeks we, the student population, would have half of our classes, as long as there are no complications which I will explain later. The next two weeks, however, we will have the other half of our classes, excluding special cases, again. As I know, there are some flaws, as there are in every good idea. One such problem we could, no would run into, would have to be if a student were to take 2 classes that have to be taken in a consecutive order. To solve this problem, all that would have to be done is a bit of extra tampering with their scheduling, which would happen regardless of the new changes for some. Said student would just have to revert back to block scheduling, and switch classes half way through the year as we do now. In result, the student would get the classes they want, and the new schedule for their remaining classes. Another problem that some may argue could arise is the fact of tests, quizzes, homework, or finals, because we can t all have time turners. Taking two weeks off could potentially affect some grades, but if you think about it, units really only take about two weeks to explain and finish their complementary tests, and homework wouldn t overlap unless it were some long term project. The reason these flaws would be worth the extra time and effort to get through would be the extra focus students would gain. I find that I do better at the beginning of the ... • 21. The Literary Genre Of 2 Peter The literary genre of 2 Peter is an epistle written to the main personalities, an implied group of believers in Asia Minor and other places around that region. The author is the Apostle Peter a dedicated servant and disciple of Jesus. The date that the letter was written has some controversy, however, in his correspondence Peter mentions that his life is coming to an end, and Peter was martyred for his faith in Rome about A.D. 64 67. Therefore, establishing the date of Peter s second letter within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the immutable word of God. The letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees about false teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in their faith. Peter goes on to explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and disrespect to God. (Life Application Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past, such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. He advises the believers to have confidence in the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God s inspired word. (Hindson, Towns) Peter cautions God will return without warning and find individuals unwary. However, Peter reasons that God is patient and delays His return for unbelievers, not ... Essay On Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder The Diagnosis and Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder There are many factors to consider in the evaluation and treatment of Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). This paper will discuss the strategies that have proven most effective in treating the disorder, including: drug therapy, cognitive therapy, and family based therapy. It will focus on the benefits of flexibility, emphasizing combination therapy, especially with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). In this method, patients are guided into conscious confrontation with the objects and situations that serve as the triggers of their obsessive fears. Following exposure, patients are taught how to abstain from the obsessive habits that they have constructed to relieve their anxieties. This treatment is quite similar to conditioning in that the response prevention immediately follows the exposure, maximizing the reinforcement effectiveness of the therapy. The idea behind this treatment is that repeated exposure to the anxiety producing stimulus leads to the patient s habituation and progression in overcoming the disorder. Additionally, the realization that obsessive fears do not materialize during ERP appears to reduce the potency of the obsessions (Wagner, 2000). The second form of CBT that has proven to be successful is the RIDE theory. In this theory, encounters and enactments of OCD symptoms are broken down into four different stages: R, I, D, and E. In the R stage, individuals are taught to recognize OCD thoughts as impractical to the child s normal being. By doing this they could realize their urges and take the necessary steps in dismissing them from their consciousness. Once they have done this they are taught the I stage. In this stage they must insist that they are in fact in control of their behavior. This assertion puts them in the driver s seat where they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Importance Of Osmosis In Science Osmosis has long been taught to students, especially those in high school or introductory science classes, as a simple variation of diffusion. Because osmosis is the first of many natural phenomena understood by students, it is important that it is understood correctly. This however, is not the case. In fact, discrepancies exist between how osmosisis taught and understood between physics and chemistryor biology [1]. Moreover, since the agreement of the real processes involved within the physics community back in 1951, no progress has been made with osmosis in biology and chemistry education [2]. What makes these discrepancies a topic of discussion is not that they exist, but rather, that they exist and are prevalent in education. In fact, these discrepancies are speculated to be harmful to the understanding of many biological and chemical processes including blood circulation, kidney function, fluid flow, and cell expansion in fruit and flowers [2]. According Eric M. Kramer, a professor of physics at Bard College at Simon s Rock, once errors such as these are learned they influence thinking throughout ones professional career [1]. For this reason, it is clear that this issue is pressing in relation to a proper understanding of many biological and chemical processes. Above all else, what exactly is osmosis? Where does the currently accepted understanding in biology and chemistry differ from physics? The answer lies in five misconceptions, as explained by Kramer and Myers ... Among athletes, exercise addiction was found in 52% of triathletes with 26% being male runners and 25% female runners (Berczik et al., 2012). In the film Baraka there are symbolic messages that many people might not see or catch within the film. There are quite a few topics in the film, but the top three that I could see are religion, overpopulation and the environment. The religion part of the film is about people around the world that pray and worship gods, they have faith in a higher power which gives them purpose and belief that there is a reason for what happens as they live on earth. Overpopulation is a huge part of the environment but, it s a whole separate topic on it s own because it has become a huge hazard in the world today. The environment is a big part of everyone s future and well being with an impact that can affect generations to come.. For religion in my opinion, everyone prays differently, some paint their bodies with body paint /ground up plants and pigments to use for sacred meetings and ceremonies and others gather in a church to pray and read about their religion. Religion in most cases gives people a higher purpose, helps them to believe there is a plan a divine intervention of sorts. It guides them in their life and how they lead it. In a sense keeps people happy. Although it can guide them in some case towards some acts of violence if interpreted in certain ways. Within 15 years, Indonesia has transitioned from a bureaucratic authoritarian regime to a formal presidentialism. The newly elected president has already taken steps toward implementing his reforms which consists of pushing to cut down fuel subsidies, getting rid of corruption and encouraging new businesses to invest in Indonesia by giving them tax incentives. These are clear signs that consolidated liberal democracyin Indonesia has already taken place and that Indonesia will continue to be a democratic country in the future.
