1. Evaluation Question 7 Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task (the school magazine task), what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full prod
2. In the time since I did my preliminary task, I have gained new skills in the construction of a magazine such as, the composition of my photographs and the general layout of my product. For example: I have used Photoshop and Indesign to a much greater extent on my final product than on my prelim, this is shown in the layout of the text and banners, this is why my final product is bolder and stands out more. My sell lines are much more spaced out and frequent The use of a banner over the masthead allows it to stand out more as well as the use of a location as a background which, through my focus group, I learned may have been a mistake. The models in both the magazines are shot in medium shot, which is a standard convention, but the pose and attitude of the models is very different, I used my audience research to change the attitude of my model to make my final product seem more realistic.
3. My prelim contents page lacks colour and has a minimalistic use of a colour scheme, I changed this in my final product to create a bolder and more reader friendly contents page. I have also used more images in my final product, which tells the reader a lot more about the magazine, which is a problem in my prelim task. I have a lot more content on my final product for the same reason. The experience I gained in the use of the technology I used between both products allowed me to make these changes effectively.
4. I think that on my final product, I managed my time more effectively to create a more realistic product, I also think that my final product was much better as it was planned to a greater extent than my prelim, for example my flat plans include a lot more detail and my audience research taught me how to represent and target an audience. When I was constructing my final product I used the same techniques I used on my prelim but to a better quality, which shows in the layout of my final product, (the text is bolder as well as being aligned better, the separation of certain areas is bolder on my contents page) I think that my photography skills have also improved, as is evident in my final product as the shots use the rule of thirds better and a wide variety of shots have been used. The lighting is slightly better, as well as the models clothing and pose. I think my final product could have been improved if I had used different fonts, as the ones I used were a bit basic. I think that the skills I learned whilst conducting my research were very important, like using prezi.com to explain my research better as well as using final cut and the camera function on the Macs. I think that the skills I learned is apparent in my final product as it looks much more professional.
