Working Title: Survival Guide with Jack Morton
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
The main purpose is to entertain and educate the people on how to survive. I will achieve
this by teaching the ways on how to survive in the English forest and also use a humour to
entertain as well. I will do this by showing them, on how to make a fire, shelter, food and
potential threats that you might encounter on the way. To use humour I will create jokes
and skits to make them laugh and make the documentary enjoyable to watch.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
The documentary will be adventurous, survival, educational and wildlife.
What sort of product is it
Content:
My product is about survival in the English forests and this will be made into a
documentary. I will be putting a survival guide on what to do and what not to do. This will
include campfires to keep warm, shelters to stay away from deadly animalsand what type
of food is suitable to eat.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience:
My audience will be 16-34, the gender will aimed at both. The social status will be aimed at
all people because it doesn’t matter how much money you have, it’s about knowledge and
using the right tools for the right jobs. The psychographic is for every one because survival
can be used in any dangerous situation no matter your mind set. My project will appeal to
this certain person because it will be around their age range which is 16-32 and will appeal
to them because they have energy and have the imagination to survive in the wilderness. It
also is suitable because it’s ABC1 demographic, this is the same as channel 4s target
market for survival documentaries. The gender will appeal to certain people is because
survival is for everybody no matter what gender you are the wilderness will treat you the
same.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include? My documentary won’t include any
offensive material what so ever. I have done interviews and surveys to conform that it’s
safe.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it? I won’t be restricting any younger
audiences from accessing because I have done detailed surveys and interviews to help me
make this decision.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities? The documentary will not offend any
cultures or social groups or ethnicities. However this will not be suitable for countries that
don’t speak English.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone? I will not offend anyone by doing interviews
and surveys that have suggested that it’s not offensive and will be safe for anyone.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs? There will be no characters just
a host and a camera crew that will be set in the wild.
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement? My product will be different because I will use royalty free music to avoid
getting copyright infringement, this way there will be no trouble.
