This document discusses the implementation and validation of the K-line protocol for automotive diagnostic applications. K-line is used to establish communication between a vehicle's electronic control units and an OBD II scan tool for inspection, testing, diagnosis, and adjustment. The document describes the K-line protocol specifications, provides an overview of the communication flow and firmware design, and evaluates a new K-line transceiver component against the original. Experimental results show the new transceiver meets requirements for amplitude, baud rate, rise time, and falls within acceptable limits for fall time, validating it as a suitable replacement.
