change: IPCC Report
The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report
has cautioned that the extreme climatic conditions are threatening
the food security in South Asia with escalated droughts and floods
making India and Pakistan the most vulnerable to climate change.
The second installment of the IPCC Report titled ‘Climate Change
2022: Impacts, Adaptations, and Vulnerability’ was released on
February 28, 2022.
The report stated that the climate-related risks to the agriculture and
food systems in Asia will intensify with the changing climate, with
differentiated impacts across the region.
It also further mentioned that the temperatures enhance not only the
ozone production but also the ozone uptake by plants, exacerbating
yield and quality damage.

A video of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has gone
viral that shows him pointing towards what seems to be like a
battle map detailing Russia’s attack plans in Ukraine.
The video is from Lukashenko’s address to the Belarus Security
Council on March 1, 2022 and was posted online by his regime.
Lukashenko is a close ally of Vladimir Putin and his country has
served as a Launchpad for the Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The video shows the Belarusian President standing in front of a
detailed invasion map of Ukraine.
The map reportedly hints towards a possible attack on

Australia's Robert Irwin has been awarded the Natural
History Museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year
People's Choice Award 2020 for his drone image
of Bushfire in northern Australia.
The 17-year-old is the son of Australian wildlife
conservationist and icon, the late Steve Irwin.
His winning photograph is an aerial shot of a raging
bushfire, which he captured using his drone during
the 2019/2020 Australian summer bushfires.

2, 2022, launched the E-bill Processing system as
announced in Union Budget 2022.

Sarojini Naidu’s 73rd death anniversary was observed on March 2,
2022. Sarojini Naidu, popularly known as the Nightingale of India,

fighter, who devoted her life to the National movement.
She was the first woman to hold the office of Governor in

The political activist and poet was also the second female
President of the Indian National Congress.

7. What is Vacuum bomb that Russia is accused
of using in Ukraine?
Russia has been accused of using vacuum bomb in Ukraine amid its military
invasion of the country. Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Oksana
Markarova, accused that Russia has used vacuum bomb, a thermobaric
weapons in the ongoing conflict.
As per experts, multiple cluster bombs rained down on Kharkhiv, Ukraine’s
second largest city, on February 28th.
There was also shelling in the city, which led to deaths of many civilians
including a 21-year-old Indian student.
The human rights groups have also accused Russia of using vacuum bombs
in and around Kyiv.
This is yet to be confirmed officially.
The vacuum bombs are said to be more devastating than the conventional
explosives of similar size and have a disastrous impact on anyone caught in
their blast radius.

has become the first woman Chairperson of SEBI.
She will replace Ajay Tyagi, a 1984 batch IAS officer of the
Himachal Pradesh cadre.
The notification issued by the Indian Government stated that
the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the
appointment of Madhabi Puri Buch, the former Whole Time
Member, SEBI to the post of Chairman, SEBI, initially for a
period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of
the post.

Modi asks IAF to join evacuation efforts
The Indian embassy in Ukraine issued a statement on March
1, 2022 advising all Indian nationals to leave Kyiv, capital city
of Ukraine urgently today.
The advisory comes amid the deteriorating security
situation due to the Russian-Ukraine conflict.
“All Indian nationals including students are advised to leave
Kyiv urgently today. Preferably by available trains or through
any other means available,” the Indian Embassy in Ukraine
tweeted. This comes as satellite images show a massive
Russian military convoy, almost 40 mile long, comprising
tanks, artillery and logistic vehicles lined outside Ukrainian
capital city.

India CEO
Ilker Ayci, former Chairman of Turkish Airlines, has turned
down Tata Son’s offer to be Air India's new CEO. Ayci said
in a statement that his reason to opt out of the role was
that his appointment was 'coloured' by the Indian media.
Ilker Ayci said in a release, “I have come to the conclusion
that it would not be a feasible or an honourable decision
to accept the position in the shadow of such a narrative.”
This comes days after his appointment led to opposition in the
country with RSS questioning the move and asking the
government to block his appointment, citing his close
relations with Turkish President, a close ally of Pakistan.

NATO ally Turkey has closed off the Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits in
the Black Sea to warships from any country to potentially limit the transit
of Russian warships from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea.
Turkey has taken the decision to limit warships in the region under the
power bestowed upon it by the Montreux Convention of 1936.
The move is likely to limit Russia’s ability to move ships from its other
fleets to the Black Sea.
Turkey in recent days changed its view of the Russian invasion of Ukraine,
from calling it unacceptable to an official war.
Turkey’s foreign minister Mevlut Cavusoglu was quoted saying, “It is not a
couple of air strikes now, the situation in Ukraine is officially a war... We
will implement the Montreux Convention.”
