2. NCB: SN Pradhan appointed as the next chief of
Narcotics Control Bureau till August 2024
The Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) Officer Satya
Narayan Pradhan has been appointed as the Director-
General of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on a
deputation basis. SN Pradhan has been given the
position till the date of his superannuation on August 31,
2024, or until further orders.
SN Pradhan was currently holding additional charge of
NCB Chief despite holding the responsibility of Director-
General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Pradhan was given the additional charge of NCB
Director-General after Rakesh Asthana was appointed as
the Delhi Police Commissioner.

3. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia
launches eGCA
Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on November
11, 2021, launched an online platform called eGCA (e-
Governance for Civil Aviation).
It is an online platform through which the Director-
General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will offer its 298 services
including pilot licensing.
During the launch of eGCA, Scindia also unveiled a case
study ‘DGCA take off on a digital flight’ which showcases
the journey and challenges of DGCA for the
implementation of eGCA

4. Chhath Puja 2021: Devotees offer Arghya to
rising Sun
Devotees broke their 36-hours long fast by offering Arghya to
the rising sun today, the last day of Chhath Puja 2021.
Chhath is a four-day festival dedicated to the Sun God that is
celebrated every year after Diwali.
People gathered to offer prayers to the Surya Dev in different
places in the country to mark the culmination of the four day
festival. Chhath Puja was celebrated this year from November 8
till November 11, 2021.
The festival is observed mainly by the people from Bihar,
Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The devotees observe a
nirjala vrat and offer Arghya to Chhathi Maiya and Surya Devta,
standing knee deep in flowing water.

5. Germany, in a first, records more than 50,000
new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours
Germany recorded more than 50,000 coronavirus cases in one day
on November 11, 2021, for the first time since the pandemic
began.
As per the Robert Koch Institute of Health Surveillance, there were
50,196 additional Covid cases in the last 24 hours, with 235 deaths.
The outgoing Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel described the
rise in COVID-19 infections in-country as ‘dramatic’.
Her spokesperson said, “The pandemic is returning in a new
spectacular fashion”. The government has called on the regional
authorities to take further steps to quell the outbreak.
Germany is counted among a number of European countries that
have been facing a new surge in positive Coronavirus cases. The
country has recorded record numbers of infections over the
recent days.

6. PM Narendra Modi to launch two RBI
initiatives on November 12
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch two Reserve Bank of
India initiatives on November 12, 2021 through video conferencing.
The two innovative customer-centric initiatives include the RBI
Retail Direct Scheme and the Reserve Bank
The RBI Retail Direct facility was announced in February 2021 to
improve access to government securities for retail investors. The
scheme offers the investors a new avenue to directly invest in
government securities.
•The retail investors will also have the facility to open and maintain
the ‘Retail Direct Gilt Account’ with the RBI, free of cost.
•The initiative was first flagged by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das,
calling it a major structural reform in the February policy review.

7. National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 to
be conducted on November 12
The government has been implementing a program of sample-
based National Achievement Survey (NAS) that is aimed at grades
3, 5, 8, and 10 with a cycle period of three years.
The last National Achievement Survey (NAS) was conducted on
November 13, 2017 for assessing the competencies developed by
students in classes 3, 5, and 8.
The National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 to be conducted on
November 12, 2021, will help in assessing the learning interruptions
and new learnings during the COVID pandemic which will in turn
help to take remedial measures.
The NAS 2021 has been developed by NIC as a dynamic platform
with consultations from NCERT, CBSE, NITI Aayog, UNICEF, DDG
under the overall guidance of the Ministry of Education.

8. National Internet Exchange of India launches
‘Digital Payment Gateway’
NIXI is a non-profit firm under the aegis of the Ministry of
Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It has
launched the digital payment gateway across its three
business units by integrating the payment gateways on all its
customer-facing websites for ease of use.
The CEO of NIXI, Anil Kumar Jain, who had presided as the
Chief Guest on the occasion said that NIXI has been
contributing to the Digital India Mission by helping the
internet infrastructure to be self-reliant, robust, and
secure. The National Internet Exchange of India has partnered
with NSDL and PayU.

9. Centre declares November 15 as Janjatiya
Gaurav Divas
The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Narendra Modi on
November 10, 2021, approved declaration of November 15 as
Janjatiya Gaurav Divas to commemorate the brave tribal
freedom fighters as part of the year-long celebrations of 75
years of India’s Independence.
The date November 15 also marks the birth anniversary date of
Birsa Munda who is revered as God by tribal communities
across India. Munda fought for India’s Independence against
the exploitative system of British colonial system and
spearheaded movement.

10. COVID vaccine certificate India: List of
countries that recognize India’s Vaccination
Certificate
The Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed on November 9,
2021, that 96 countries have agreed to the mutual recognition of COVID-
19 Vaccination certificates with India.
In an official statement, the Union Health Minister said the government
continues to be in communication with the rest of the world so that the
beneficiaries of the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination programme are
accepted as well as recognized, thereby easing the travel for business,
education and tourism purposes.
The Health Minister stated that at present, 96 countries have agreed to
mutual recognition of the vaccination certificates and also those who
recognize the Indian Vaccination certificates of travellers fully vaccinated
with Covishield/WHO approved/nationally approved COVID vaccines.
