3. Research
• The research was helpful as it helped me to see what my product
might look like. I could see what looks good in a montage and what
looks bad, which enabled me to pick out what I wanted in my
product. All the products I researched had one main theme, action
so I made my main theme action. I noticed there was a lot of text
used in the montages, but they where used as subtitles for when
characters give a quote, my product wasn’t going to have quotes
from game, so I used text for the lyrics of the music. With the type
of product I'm making it was easy to find something similar from the
80s although it would be to similar as my product is a montage and
they did start until the early 2000s so I had to settle with a music
video.
4. Planning
• With the planning I could decide what I wanted in my two final
products. It was also a reminder of what I needed in my final
products. And for my montage (FMP Part 1) I could decide what
games I wanted in the montage. And for the ad poster (FMP Part 2) I
could decide how I wanted to layout everything and what images to
use. Although when your planning your ideas can change, and for
me my plan for my poster doesn’t look like my final product. So if I
had more time to plan, I would think more carefully about my layout
for the poster. Deciding the different types of colours I was going to
use for part one and two was in my opinion a bit annoying because
my choice could change.
5. Time Management
• I believe that I should have spend a lot more time on each
PowerPoint and thought a lot more on each question, to
produce the best answer. But it did give me more time to work
on part 1 and part 2 of my product, which I did need because
part 1 took a long time to finish. And if I spent more time on the
PowerPoints I wouldn’t have had time to do the poster. So I think
timing work out well for me. Some computers didn’t have the
software I needed which slowed be down a bit, but I overcame
this by using a portable MacBook.
6. Technical Qualities
This montage focuses on
one specific thing which is
the marvel avengers and its
main theme is action. My
montage doesn't focus on
one game or movie, it shows
multiple different videos
games, and the genre is also
action.
This product uses dramatic music, which is fast
pace and heavy beat music, to help create and
action themed montage. I also use dramatic
music to create an action themed montage.
This product is similar to my
product because it uses
multiple different video
games in the montage, this
is to attracted a bigger
audience. But in mine
edited the clips, in this
product its just video game
trailers.
The software I used
(premier pro) was
great it was easy to
use and all the tools
I need.
7. Technical Qualities
Both products are full of colour,
and both show a lot of the main
characters in the movie and
montage. The colours used in this
product show the good and the
bad and my product does the same
thing. White space is used to focus
the image in the poster.
Both posters have a plain background
and show the main characters. In my
poster the font I use is quite masculine
and spaced out to show the theme of
action, but in this poster the font is
messy and close together, and this is
to show philological theme within the
movie.
Both of the products use effects and both have a plain
background. But this poster only shows one character in it,
whilst mine shows ten different characters that are present in
the main product. The most important part of my product is
in the centre which is the same for this poster because the
first thing you look at is the centre.
The software I used
(Photoshop) performed
perfectly, it had all the
tools I need to create my
poster.
8. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the effects I used such as the dips to
black when there's a sharp beat, this would
achieved by using the cross dissolve effect.
And the dips to white when there's a slow
beat, this would be achieved by using the dip
to white effect. This make the audience
invested in the product
I would keep the transition
between clips to the beat of the
music. I did this so that the
music and the clips could blend
together. To improve this I could
done it so that when there's a
beat a canon goes off or
something like that.
I used bold masculine text to
make the product look more
professional and appeal to
the male audience, and they
help introduce the action
parts of the montage. I think
that adding more effects to
the text would have
definitely improved it, for
instance a more distorted
effect would work well.
I believe my audience
will love the dramatic
effects I have used
such as sudden cuts
to black.
9. Aesthetic Qualities
I like the smoke effect I
used at the top of the
poster because it adds a bit
of magic and mystery to
the two characters also
positioned at the top.
The use of company logos
at the bottom is good as it
makes the poster look more
real. It also lets the
audience know that it’s a
video game poster
The red background
gives off a theme of
action, which perfectly
advertises part 1 (the
montage) which is the
main purpose of this
product
I used the main characters from different
video game to help people identify that this is
a video game poster, and the way I positioned
them makes it look dramatic. I could have
tried to find better higher resolution images to
use
I listed the six of the games in the
montage, I did this because these
are the most popular game in the
montage so its best to just
advertise them because I couldn’t
advertise all the games in the
montage.
10. Audience Appeal
I have used multiple
different types of action
games for the product, and
it will appeal to a wide range
of people, because of the
wide variety of action
games in the montage.
I used bold but smart text to
appeal to all genders,
because bold is masculine
and smart is feminine. This
technique gives me a wider
audience.
The song used will appeal to teens and young
adults (15-30) because its dramatic. This works
out well because video game mostly appeal to
teens and young adults as well, the song will also
appeal to working class people as its not about
having a rich life or a poor life, its about war, and
how you need to work for everything.
The audience could aspire to
be one of the characters in the
montage, and my montage has
lots of different character,
which means more people
watching because they aspire
to be those characters.
In the questionnaire I asked people how many games they like to
see in the montage, and most people wanted to see 10 or more
games in the product, so I used more that 10 games. This is good
because it shows a wider range of video games, which also gives us
a bigger audience.
11. Audience Appeal
This product will appeal to people who
like action games, as I have only shown
characters from action games. So it will
appeal to teens and young adults as
there the kind of people who play action
games.
The colours I‘ve used such as
blue and grey are quite
masculine so it will appeal to
that audience. But I wanted a
bigger audience so I also use
yellow and red which are quite
feminine colours, so that it could
appeal to female viewers.
The font used in the poster is bold
and strong, so it appeals to a male
audience. But it is set out in a smart
and spread out way, so it will also
appeal to an older audience.
I put the game developers
logos at the bottom of the
page, I put the logos in the
poster to attracted peoples
attention as the maybe
familiar with the company. It
also helps people identify that
this is a video game poster
Because this poster is advertising part 1 of my FMP, I had to put the
title of the song in the poster, and if people are familiar with the song
it will catch there attention. I made the font large for it and also made
it the title of the poster, I did this because it’s the first thing they'll see
so if there familiar with the song they will be interested
13. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
It was an interesting product that definitely drew your attention to it. The
poster is well made with the different effects on each character I also liked
the small detail like the gun smoke.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
One of the things that need improvement is you choice of images used
because some are to pixilated and blurry to be used you should also get a
different background instead of a solid red one.
14. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how it blacks out when there's a beat to the
music, also how the clips transitions to another
clip when there's a beat.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Try to get higher resolution videos for the
montage, some parts look blurrier than others.
15. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I like how you have added effects to the poster, it
make it all stand out, and helps me focus on the
centre of the image.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Change the background because it looks too
bland.
16. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I agree that for the poster I should have found the best
resolution images.
– I agree that the added effects look great in the poster.
– I agree that the effects during the transition between clips
looks good.
– I agree that the background of the poster is a bit bland and
boring.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• I disagree with the problem with the resolution on the
montage, I think the clips look fine how they are, also when
editing if I felt a clip was too dark edited it so it was brighter.
17. Peer Feedback Summary
On FMP part 1 the montage, I would maybe change the music more
dramatic as the one I used is dramatic but its also pop music and
based on the questionnaire people wanted dramatic music, so if I
were to do it again I would pick better dramatic music so that it
doesn’t look like a music video but looks like a montage.
On FMP part 2 the advertisement poster, I would try to find better
higher resolution pictures, because some of the images I used
looked blurry. And if I did this it would make it look more
professional. I could also have got brighter colours because this was
an advertisement poster and advertisements need to be eye
catching, also have bright may have given me a bigger audience.
