Dragon age origins
This game is similar to my idea because it is set in a medieval fantasy world. The effects of
this game are simple because of the time it came out, effects are usually only used for
magic, blood or explosions, also the graphic are quite plane. The game has a third person
angle, which is something I’ll sort of be using because my game is 2D so you will be able to
see the playable character. The armor and weapons in the game are very medieval and ill
most likely base my game weapons and armor off this game, the prop aren’t very colourful
which blends them into the scenery, the main colours of the game are brown, black, grey
and red. Most people love dragon age origins, mainly because of its characters and story.

Skyrim
The game is set in a medieval fantasy world, the lighting of the game is similar to
dragon age because it has dull and gloomy colours, this lets the audience know that
the world there in is grim. The gameplay of Skyrim is quite simple but unique, and you
can switch between first person and third person, the inventory system is easy to use,
and I’ll use some of its elements in my game. Most of, if not all of Skyrim’s audience
love the game, mainly because of its endless hours of gameplay and story. The reward
system is also very good in this game

Witcher 3
This game is very different to other medieval fantasy games. It has a lot of bright
colours, portraying a bright and living world, This helps the audience to get immersed.
The reward system is similar to most games, if you kill a high level enemy you will get a
high level reward. There is tones of gameplay to enjoy and all the missions are
completely unique to one an other. The inventory system is similar to the inventory in
dragon age so it must appeal to the type of audiences that they have. The sound
effects and music is very well done, and the music is medieval themed to fit with the
genre of game. The audience loved this game because it was voted game of the year
in 2015.
The box art of the game
shows the main
character, who is also the
playable character. Its
simple and only show
him, and there's no
background colours, so
the audience can focus
on him.

Kingdom come
This game is set in medieval times, they made this game very accurate to
actual medieval history. The lighting of the game is realistic, so there not
too bright but there not too dull. The gameplay is in first person, which is
not what I’m going to do. There is one playable character called henry and
you follow his journey to becoming one of the greatest knights in history.
6. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched products have?
– There all medieval themed and have a similar story of making your
way up the ladder.
– All the games have a reward system and the same style of reward,
meaning the higher level enemy you face the higher level reward.
– Most of the games I researched have the same art style, they have dull
and gloomy colours, to show a harsh world.
– All of them are either first person or third person, and there 3D, this is
to make them feel more real.
• What aspects of the research will you include within your on
work?
• I will use the same inventory style as dragon age origins, because its
easy to make and easy to use.
• I will be using the same style of weapons that are in dragon age
origins, because they look the most medieval.
• I will use the same lighting style as the whitcher, so bright and lively
colours.
• There will only be one playable character, known only as the warden.
8. Interview 1
• What kind of rewards should players get and
why?
• Some good loot that would help them later on in
the game (e.g. Better Swords and a Shield)
• Do you like single player games and why?
• Yes mainly because other players online can be
extremely toxic (looking at you Pubg)
• What's your opinion on medieval games?
• They’re alright, Witcher 3 is really good and I’m
looking forward to Kingdom Come Deliverance.
9. Interview 1
• Observation:
• This audience member would like loot that helps him
later in the game, he likes single player games, and thinks
medieval games are ok.
• What this says about my audience:
• This tells me that my audience will be story driven
gamers. And that there goal will be to get the best loot
and rewards.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• It will sort of have a story to it, and the rewards you get
will help you later in the game, the loot will mainly be
swords and armor as well as health potions.
10. Interview 2
• What kind of rewards should players get and why?
• Players should get bonus weapons or a extra XP boost,
because it makes it worth the players time. It also
develops the video game character as they might get a
higher level.
• Do you like single player games and why?
• Yes because I like to sit down and enjoy a good
campaign game, with no annoying online players
• What's your opinion on medieval games?
• My opinion on medieval games are that they are too
basic as I feel you cant develop them much as the
weapons are limited, E.G. crossbows and swords.
11. Interview 2
• Observation:
• He wants to get better rewards as the game progresses, he
doesn't like online players and prefers a single player
experience. However he doesn't like medieval themed
games because he thinks there limited.
• What this says about my audience:
• This tells me my audience strives to get the next reward,
and would rather enjoy the game on there own then with
other players.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
• One of the concerns where that the medieval theme would
limit the items, so I’ll add magical elements to the game
and make it more of a medieval fantasy world.
