2. Advertising Industry
Photography is used a lot in the
advertising industry due to the fact a
lot of areas of media need to advertise
their products. Advertising
photography can be seen on billboard,
in newspapers and magazines. The
main purpose of advertisement is to
sell the product and to attract an
audience. Therefore the images used
in advertising have to very appealing
to the target audience. A lot of shots
that are used in advertising
photography are medium or close up
shots allowing the audience to see
what the product looks like. A lot of
money is spent in advertising and a
very good example of this is a Honda
promotional poster.
A famous advertising photographer is
Jonathan Knowles who's work has
been used all around the world. Here
are a few examples of his work.
3. Fashion Industry
Fashion photography is used so brands
and fashion designers can get their
designs recognised by the world. This
is vey similar to photography in
advertisement. The photography used
needs to draw people making them
look at the product and wanting to buy
it. A lot of fashion photography is used
and published in popular fashion
magazines such as Vogue, Chanel but
also in retail shops. A lot of camera
shots that are using in fashion
photography are mainly long or
medium shots. This gives the target
audience a good chance to see the
fashion garment.
A fashion photographer is Sebastian
Kim who's work as been seen all over
the world. Here I have gathered
images from Sebastian Kim

Photography in the music industry is
mainly used for album covers for CDS,
music magazines, posters and other
promotional material. A lot of the
photography used in the music
industry is mainly used to promote the
band in a way that appeals to their
target audiences. A lot of close ups are
used of members from the music
bands due to the fact fans will more
engaged in the picture. A famous
music photographer is Kevin Cummins
who has taken pictures of the smiths

photos on Mick Jagger. Here are some
of his pictures which are all
monochrome (black and white).
5. Bob Martins Work
Sports Industry
Sports photography is mainly used in
sports magazines, newspapers, sports
shops and on the internet. Photography
in sport is used to promote up coming
events which are going to take place. Its
also used to show interviews that the
athlete has participated in. If we look at
sports photography a lot of shots used
are close ups, long distance or medium
sots. All these shots show different angles
of the sports being played and it allows
the viewer to see what's happening and
why. For example a long sot could be
used in football to show a footballer
kicking the ball.
An example of spot photography is by
Bob Martin who is an award winning
sports photographer. He specialise in
action shots which he then uses for
advertisements. Bob Martin became that
well know that he even took pictures for
the winter Olympics which is a big
opportunity for a sports photographer
due to the fact his images could have
been used all around the world. Once
again I have gathered images from Bob
Martins work.

Photo journalism
Photo Journalism can be used in many different
situations. It can be used for documenting
historical and recent events which are very
important for our society. Recent events can be
used in the media such as the newspaper or on
the news. An example of a recent even is the war
in Syria which is a massive topic at the moment. A
photographer would capture a bomb exploding
which they would then send of to the news or to
the newspaper. A lot of close up shots are used
for photo journalism to show the emotion on
peoples faces when they have witnessed
something horrific such as the Syrian bombings.
Long shots are also used to show the impact of
the situation which is also used to make an
impact on the viewing audience, by triggering
their emotions.

Fine art photography has an emotional
story to or behind it. Fine art

fine art is. A lot of fine art is kept and
shown in galleries for people to look
