Advertising is a form of graphic
communications which sends a message to
the public. The idea of it is to show off the
product in the effort to attract attention
which then leads to customers buying the
advertised product.
There a number of places where this is used,
it is used for every product. a good example
would be clothing. Advertising allows the
public to learn of new trends/seasons of
clothing. Advertisements will also be used in
store displays which draws customers into
store.
Travel agencies also use this, they use image
of destinations all over the world and they
are placed either in
leaflets/books/brochures/In-store displays
which are given away free, this is done as a
way to try and persuade the customer into
booking a holiday.

the public to learn of new trends/seasons of
clothing. Advertisements could be displayed
in magazines or in store displays which is
used as a way to draw customers into the
store.
Advertisements could also be seen online.
One of the most iconic fashion
photographers of all time is Steven Meisel.
When It comes to fashion it is essential to get
designs noticed. This is why a lot of fashion
photography is unusual. The final imagery
will be very eye catching and at the same
time will create a lasting effect.

This can be used for numerous things such as
artists themselves, Gigs, Festivals etc.
The are also promoted in a number of

would be promoted would be the internet,
another way could be through music
magazines or posters.
One of the most well known photographers
for music advertising is RUKES. The photos on
the right at gigs are both RUKES’ work. These
images show the atmosphere of the gigs and
very eye catching due to the lights and the
symmetry.
Promotion is a key part of Music

If there is any significant sporting event
taking place, The chances are Bob Martin
would be the photographer, he is recognised
as one of the worlds leading sports
photographers.
The photos on the right are taken by Bob
Martin. From these images we can see that
he likes the silhouette type photography.
In my opinion the silhouette imagery works
very well when it comes to sport
photography. This effect gives us the option
to focus both on the person and the
background. The background will usually
show what sport is being played.
6. Photo Journalism
Photo Journalism is the documentation of
historical or current events.
It involves collecting, editing and then
presenting the news material for publication
or broadcast.
Photo Journalism has been around for many
years. A well known Photo Journalism
Photographer was Eugene Smith. He
was known for his refusal to compromise
professional standards and his brutally
vivid World War II photographs.
Usually photo Journalism is the
documentation of often
upsetting/Depressing/Bad news. The images
will often play on emotions as we are given a
look into what people are going through.
Although mainly printed in media like
newspapers, Photojournalism is available
online in other formats.

Fine art photography usually consists of a
photographers individual taste. Sometimes
the photographs taken can have a meaning
behind them.
Fine Art Photography fulfils the creative
vision of a photographer.
This can be really interesting type of
photography and looking at some example I
believe a lot of work has gone into the
photographs. Especially with the first two
examples on the right.
