3. Conventions
Mise en scene: In my magazine I'm
going to have my central image with
jeans with no top on and designer
shoes. My central image would have
tattoos on, with a gold crusted ring
and chan. With platinum grills on
which covers his teeth and he will also
have dreadlocks. Having all these
things on shows that my artist is
successful and obviously has a style
for bling and arty tattoos which
represents them as a person. As you
can see my central image would link
to the image on my right, as male are
predominantly the central image of
most magazines especially in the
genre which I am focusing on which is
R&B and Hip Hop. In my front cover
I'm going to use bold and eye catching
colours (shades of black, blue and red
perhaps).
4. SHOOTING INFO
It would also be a mid-shot picture
would capture from his belt and up.
This all links to the Hip Hop and R&B
genre that I'm focusing on which
clearly links to the central image on
my right, relating to the genre of XXL
magazine. When taking my picture I'm
going to use a Nikon digital camera so
I provide high quality photos for my
magazine. I’m going to make my artist
have a direct gaze which would have
an effect of him coming off as
confident and confrontational which
links to the persona of my character.
Also I am going to after edit my photos
with a photo editing app called befunky
to focus on different parts of my
central images body. Additionally when
taking the picture I'm going to take it
in front of a blank background which
will ensure that the photo is focused on
my central image.
5. Narrative
Double Page Spread
Narrative on double page spread
would involve the theme of the
artist coming from nothing to
something, and him now
enjoying life to the fullest being
that stereo typical arrogant
young male. However, life is
then turned around through the
birth of the new child and then
he becomes a mature male.
Double page spread would also
announce the release of new
single which emulates the
change in his life. For the central
image it would perhaps involve a
picture of him with his baby.
6. Representation
How I will represent my magazine is on
masculinity and how having a child could change
the whole aspect of your music and your
personality. Where as a hip hop artist during this
modern day is someone who is strong,
aggressive (especially with the theme of my
artist coming from nothing to something) and
someone who doesn’t show any signs of
weakness. The age range would perhaps refer to
women and men 18+. It will also involve how my
artist was the stereotypical arrogant hip hop
artist who only though about girls, money and
cars.
