2. Medium close up- they have chosen this type of shot because
the main focus is on the model, therefore, this shot allows the
background to be limited. When the audience see who is on
the magazine they will be enticed into buying it as they may
like the model who is on the front cover. Another reason why
they use this shot is so that the audience can see her clothing
as this magazine is based on fashion.
The model’s facial expression gives direct address and eye
contact to the audience which shows she is confident. This
then challenges the typical stereotypes of women.
The colour scheme for this magazine is very basic. There a only a
few colours used: black, white and grey. These colours give the
magazine a classy, sophisticated image. The classy look is targeted
at educated woman between the ages of 18-48, ABC1. The ABC1 is
shown though the pricing of the magazine and the mode of the
address used.
The lighting used is high key and it’s main
focus is on the model.
This magazine represents fashion, fitness and beauty. On the front of the
magazine they are talking about how to ‘get a flat stomach in 2 weeks’,
how to look after your skin as well as the new up-to-date fashion styles.
This can been seen as both a positive and negative representation. The
positive representation is that woman look after themselves. However, it
could also be a bad representation because they can have an influence
on young people and effect their confidence which is unhealthy. The
storylines on this front page is suggestion that appearance is extremely
important and is the main focus.
The model is centred in the middle of
the mast head. She is the main focus
and part of the mast head is hidden
behind her head. This is because they
do not need to show their full name as
they are already well known.
