2. I chose to go against the stereotype and chose a
friend that was a gay female who fitted the
‘Indie/acoustic’ style of my magazine perfectly and
who appears to fit the social group I am targeting.
On my front cover my artist Billie Low is posed
holding a guitar and looking straight into the
camera targeting the audience. Her expression is
both serious but still inviting which suits the young
social group I am aiming my magazine at. I have
dressed my model in a stylish, modern but get
traditional and relaxed fashion of a red checked
shirt and jeans, this fits the social group as this is
the type of clothing I imagine them wearing. I
wanted my images to look professional but keeping
with my particular social group I wanted to keep
the clothing, hair, positioning and over all look
modern yet retro elements and relaxed.
3. MISE EN SCENE
I kept the mise en scene for my front cover entirely simple and plain so their
was no distractions from the image its self. It is on a cream/beige black
ground so the model stands out, it also gives that ‘ photography studio’ feel to
the image. The lighting is bright as I believe this goes with the social group of
young, free and outside orientated. It helps represent the audience as they are
stereotypically relaxed and natural.
REPRESENTATION OF THE TARGET AUDIENCE
My cover represents my audience in several ways. From the
clothing, positioning, expression and use of the guitar, which is typical in the
indie genre. These are stereotypical features that go with my target audience.
4. The front cover of my magazine main supports the
dominate idea because of the style, pose and mise en
scene. The only factor that challenges the idea is
because of the female artist when it is stereotypically
more male genre and the fact the guitar is linked
with a female.
5. The model on my double page
spread fits the representation of my
social group I am targeting. She is
wearing a simple grey t-shirt with
washed out jeans, a retro watch and
is holding a guitar again. She is
usually posed sat on a stool, this
allows more of the body and outfit to
be shown and also gives a different
feel to the photo. It is serious and
framed but also gives that relaxed
indie/acoustic music feel. The
clothing despite because simple
colours of grey and black stands out
on the cream back ground.
6. MISE EN SCENE
I kept the same mise en scene for my double page spread entirely simple
and plain so their was no distractions from the image its self and focused
on the artist and her guitar. It is on a cream/beige black ground so the
model stands out, it also gives that ‘ photography studio’ feel to the
image. I believe this goes with the social group of young and modern
social group.
REPRESENTATION OF THE TARGET AUDIENCE
My cover represents my audience in several ways. From the
simple, relaxed clothing, position sitting on a stool, serious expression
and use of the guitar again in the image but now holding in a different
way seeing more of both the artist and guitar, which is typical in the
music genre ‘Indie’ as guitars are usually in their music or played whilst
singing at concerts ect.
7. As I have previously mentioned
my double page spread supports
the dominate ideas with the mise
en scene and especially instrument
used.
