3. VOGUE-
■ My biggest inspiration for my magazine that I am creating is vogue. This is because of the high
quality content and the classy connotations that come with the magazine. Ever since childhood I
have always had an interest in this magazine.
■ Vogue is an extremely recognizable magazine due to its unique font and iconic headline. On top of
this, vogue always makes their magazines catch the attention of their audience due to the different
color schemes seen within each issue of the magazine. Vogue always links their color schemes
with the outfits and models seen within each front cover, this is something that would inspire me in
my creation process of my own magazine as my magazine is going to be fashion and lifestyle
orientated, similar to vogue.
■ Despite having a large amount of content featured on the front cover of their magazine, there is still
a minimalistic feel as it doesn't’ look cluttered. This is because of the font style that has been used
with this magazine. There is one main sell line in large font (quite often in black and white slim font)
and then the other sell lines are written in small black or white maintaining the minimalistic appeal
allowing attention to be on the main image and main sell line.
■ The main images on vogues front covers are often shot in medium shot. By doing this vogue are
able to show the clothing on the model in high detail, on top of this they are able to attract the
audience by the model looking into the camera lens, this engages the audience by the eye contact
that is created. I wish to use a technique similar to this for my magazine.
4. VOGUE CONTINUED…
Vogue’s contents page is also an inspiration for me due to their
large image lead page. Not only does this attract the attention of
the audience but it can link to the front cover and showcase the
fashion that will be featured within the magazine. The ‘sexiness’ of
the image will attract a male audience to the otherwise female
magazine, this can broaden the target audience, I might consider
this within my magazine creation process. The color scheme for
this issue is evident on this contents page so is maintaining a
house theme throughout the magazine, this creates a professional
feel to the magazine and I wish to include this within my final
product. The contents are split into two separate sections; one for
articles features on the cover and the other for the remaining
articles featured in the magazine. By doing this it makes the
reading experience for the audience easier and more pleasurable.
This also makes navigating the magazine for those who bought if
because of something they saw on the front cover a lot easier.
Overall I like the aesthetic and practical elements of this contents
page so I will be likely to use inspirations from this whilst creating
my final product.

6. ELLE-
■ Elle magazine is very similar to vogue in many aspects, hence why I am inspired by this.
■ I enjoy the main images on the front cover of ELLE magazine and by looking at both Elle
and vogue I have discovered that the majority of fashion magazines use a similar style of
main image, in order to fit in with other fashion magazines I will take inspiration from these
main images when creating my final product.
■ Despite liking the neutral colored font on the cover of vogue, having seen some of the issues
of ELLE magazine, I am fond of the pops of color seen throughout. However to maintain
class, ELLE magazine has only done this on issues that have a neutral toned main images
to make the magazine still pop.
■ ELLE magazine attracts the audience by making one word on the front cover larger to gain
attention, these words often have positive connotations such as Kim Kardashian’s issue that
is about confidence. These positive connotations will provide the reader with an idea of if
they buy the magazine, they too will feel confident and happy.
