2. Image 1
This Medium close up with a slight left hand side positioning I
selected for its high key lighting illuminating my Models face in the
mise en scene. The shadows around the models face and the
streak of sunlight make her blue eyes appear more striking and
defined, the direct address magnified by her expression and
connection with the audience. However this became a problem
when selecting this image as the main focal point becomes her eyes
and facial expression instead of the clothes therefore this image
does not conform to the conventional stylistics of a fashion spread
as the clothing is not the main focal point of the image.
3. Image 2
This medium long shot with central positioning I selected for its
aperture close up effect blurring the leaves and the shots depth of
field, drawing the attention of the viewer to the foreground mise en
scene and therefore to my main focal point being my model and her
clothing. Her direct address connects directly with the viewer, aiding to
inspire interest through audience acknowledgment. The use of foliage
on the left hand side of the image which slightly obscures the full view
of the model is incorporated in order to tease the product, giving the
audience a glimpse of the full outfit making them want to see the
entire image which will prompt them to go online and to the website of
the dress brand. This advertising technique is used throughout spring
and summer editions of magazines such as Teen Vogue and Elle
magazine which I drew my inspiration from when capturing this image.
4. Image 3
This medium long shot with a
left hand side use of rule of
thirds conveys the outfit the
be the main focal point as the
flowers are meant to coincide
with the theme of spring and
match the floral pattern on her
dress. For this shot I used
manual focus to capture my
models pose on the spot, the
primary colour scheme of
white against the juxtaposing
green background meant to
connote purity and beauty
braugh with the season
genre. However this image
was not suitable due to the
confusing origins of the main
focal point as the brighter
shade of white from the
flowers draws the viewer's
attention away from the dress.
The cut off of the dress at the
bottom also disorientates
attention.
Image 4
This long shot uses
high key lighting and
juxtaposing colour
scheme of the mise
en scene to draw
attention to the dress
being the main focal
point of the image.
The light from the
right defines the
facial features of the
model while also
giving an
unobscured view of
the entire dress.
However this image
was not chosen as a
final image because
of the top half of the
model being more
defined than the
bottom by lighting,
giving unequal
attention to the dress
as a whole.
5. Final Cover Image This medium close up/ over the shoulder
shot with central positioning uses high key
lighting in the background of the mise en
scene to create a halo effect. Through the
use of depth of field to create focus closer
to the camera and aperture to slightly blur
out the mise en scene detail I crafted the
model to become the main focal point of
the image. Props such as the flower also
brings attention to her facial features and
direct address, while the lighting gives an
almost rainbow filter closer to the lense of
the camera, creating a dreamy and soft
depiction of my model. This image I
primarily selected as my introductory cover
image as the left and right hand side leave
sufficient room for a title and cover lines.
