2. gamesTM-gaming magazine
This is a gaming(console) based magazine, from looking at the front cover you
can see that it is based around a open mind of gaming consoles( PlayStation
/XBOX). The main background image is giving the sense of a kind of 3D-style,
which is good as it helps to make the character pop/stand out from the text
and background of the image. This is shown by the way that the sword of the
character cuts through the ’U” from one of the cover lines ‘UNITY’ the idea of
this would help it to appeal towards the audience more. The masthead of the
magazine cover is very big and bold, grabbing the attention of the viewers eye,
not only that though it helps people to be able to see which brand of magazine
it is, so the buyer doesn't’t have to pull out the whole magazine, they should
be able to see the masthead on the top of the magazine, without having to
take it out the shelf. The colour scheme of this gaming magazine are quite the
sort of retro and basic kind, as if they are wanting to imply a sense of danger,
hinting that the game has a sense of death presence in it, which can be shown
by the red flag behind his hand, giving a resemblance of ‘blood’. The
grey/black and white background of the image in general give the viewer the
idea that there is a long road of danger coming ahead with the game/or that
the game on a whole has a sense of danger throughout it.
The coverlines around the front cover all have a kind of basic font style, almost
in the kind of old-school style, this could be giving some kind of representation
to the game as it Is set In the more previous centaury's rather then present
day.
3. gamesTM- double page spread.
This is an example of a double page spread from the
game magazine ‘gamesTM’ from looking at a new
‘Sony speaker ‘. One of the main immediate things of
which I noticed is the coverline, it makes use of some
kind of futuristic text style which is giving idea with the
speaker that is being shown, this is because the
speaker is described as being a ‘sound revolution’,
which makes the text relate to this as it looks like some
kind of text of which you would receive/see in the
future. The blue background blends in well with the
text as it helps to emphasize the idea of the 3D-effect
from the futuristic style of font. The general layout of
this double page spread is more of a formal style of
layout which is more around the newspaper article
kind, this is good as it makes it easier for the viewer to
read.
4. Sports magazine
The set background of this shows a mixture of two different colours and they
the idea of a dark and dingy black around the edges of the front cover
coming into the middle, which is actually just areas of the pitch that aren't
lighted and in the middle, behind the player there is an area of the pitch of
which is lit up, which helps to make the player stand out more as it is lighting
his face up slightly, which is good as it makes the viewers eye be drawn more
towards him/making them focus on him more. With this front cover they
have worked on trying to make the character pop/stand out from the text
surrounding him, this is almost seen to be a 3D sort of effect which is very
eye-popping towards the viewer. The masthead on the front cover is located
at the top left of the cover and is slightly covered by the football players
head, coming from the 3D effect, but the masthead can still be seen to be
quite clearly visible as the white writing stands out on the black background
in the corner. From observing the magazine cover, you are getting the initial
idea that there Is some form of lighting in front of his face and there is some
form of over-hang making that small are of pitch behind him light up.
5. Sky sports website
This here is the landing page of the ’Sky Sports Website,
from looking at it the home page sees to be quite basic as
the only other colours on it apart from white is blue and
red at the top covering ‘sky sports’, which is done to give a
representation on the logo of ’sky sports’. Some may see it
as boring looking but in actual it was many different
headings that for sure will take you to many different
pages on their website, meaning that despite the lack of
appeal and colours in some peoples eyes it still comes with
pages of facts/news/statistics and figures. On a whole for
someone who would more rather enjoy the idea of reading
facts and figures them in which case ‘sky sports’ website
would appeal a lot to them and they would see this from
the landing (home) page.
6. Total Film- Film magazine
With this example of a film magazine cover, the first thing that your eye I
drawn towards is the idea that the background is just black apart from the
actor being dead center of the cover with some form of low key lighting on
his face and chest. From this lighting it makes it look like he has been
walking through a dark tunnel and is about to come out into the light// he
is about to cross over into victory//daylight// civilization //end of the
tunnel. The masthead is placed just above the forehead of the actor in the
center, it has been placed like this because you can see some sort of effect
where it looks like the actor is about to walk through the masthead which
in a way is creating tension for the viewer as it is like they are about to
reach out and grab them. I like the way of which they have gone round
adding in various different coverlines on the front cover around the edges.
There is a small area on this front cover where there is a direct mode of
address, which is good and strong as it is aiming directly at you(the
viewer) and it will make you feel more involved. The suttle use of the
colour blue in places give the front cover more of a distinctive appeal
towards it, also building up the layers of the front cover, making it seem
more built up. There is also one more link with the blue colour of which
you can notice, once looking closely at it you can see that the actor also
has blue eyes and the colour of the blue in the advert is the same as his
eyes, making them link. Also the blue target on the ‘C’ of spectre is blue,
this could give a representation for a target on his eye.
7. Total Film- Double page spread( film magazine)
This here is an example of a film magazine, inparticular the
idea of a double page spread from the magazine company
‘Total Film’. This double page spread gives me the idea that
on a whole it is quite an interesting one to want to view, this
in my opinion is because of the main big image that covers
up the whole of the background (in a sense) of the double
page spread, with a small area of text on the right hand side
of the double page spread. All of the colors of which are
included in this double page spread link together, this is due
to the fact that they are all quite dark/bleak colors which
makes them all contrast together as if it is trying to represent
that something is coming, from looking at the background of
the double page spread you can see that there is some kind
of murky/dark sky forming which would leave me to assume
that there is some kind of storm forming, which is going to
result in something bad happening i.e. a battle/fight. The
way that they have layed out this double page spread in my
eyes Is very good as you are able to see how Masthead’
makes an immediate and clear stand out on the grey sky ,
which will help to grab the audience/viewer attention on
that the article is about , without them having to glance
about looking for a heading, its already there, almost pre-
setting them off to sort reading the article.
8. This is an example of a film magazine, website,
inparticular it is the website for the magazine
company ’TOTAL FILM’ , which can be clearly
seen in the top left as it shows the logo in a
implying and bright red. This red is also shown to
be on various places around the lading page of
this inparticular website. `I believe that it is quite
a stand out colour especially against the white
background and adverts on the landing page.
The red is very eye popping and eye grabbing
towards the viewer, this could be seen as a good
and bad thing as the red is very eye popping it
could distract some people from being able to
view the rest of the page/website as could have
bad/poor eyesight. But also it can be seen to be a
good thing as it makes the website look more
detailed/interesting towards some and there Is
also a strip of red underneath the links to the
other pages, which make it link towards different
pages, this makes it stand out more, meaning
viewers/audience wont have to spend so long
searching for it.In my opinion it almost seems
that the red colour is inking with the adverts
around the edge.
12. Proposal
• Working title: what is it called? This can change if you think of something better later.
• Audience:
I am of the opinion that my audience will more be based around the idea of people who like to watch films and read about them on a regular
basis, but more importantly people who like films that have a sense of action in as that is what I am intending on basing my magazine
around. The gender of which I believe would be more appealing towards my magazine, would be the idea of a male audience as I believe that
they would be more interested in the magazine of which I am making, the age range In my opinion would start from around 15-40, a starting
age range of 15 as believe that this is roughly the age of which you would start to take some form of proper interest in film magazines and
around the age of 40 I think is the age that you tend to lose interest In these types of subjects/magazines and would necessarily be 100%
focused on the idea of general news/what is going on around the world. With my magazine I believe that any form of social audience would
be appealed to want to view it, this is because I want to make it so that it will have a wide range of audience and as such will attract more
people into viewing it, hence that my magazine will success more.
Rationale(approx. 100 words)
Within the last year I have learnt I have acquired many different new skills, one of which is the idea of being able to learn how to use such
devices such as Photoshop and Premier, these are the kind of things of which I learnt last year during the duration of ‘Level 2’. So fat
throughout the duration of ‘Level 3’ I have been learning different types of skills and more in dept. techniques of editing of which you can use
via. Premier, this is mainly because of the style of work of which I did last year, I didn’t really get much chance to use Photoshop, but so far this
year I have had much chance to work with it and develop my skills.
13. Proposal
• Project concept (approx. 100 words)
• My project appeal is based around the idea of a magazine and a website based around the idea of the magazine. For the
production of my magazine I would make it around the idea of some kind of specific type of film genre or the idea as some
kind of mixed style of genre, this would be seen to be more interesting and appealing to an audience, as they will be able
to read/view about various different types of film magazines. I also believe that this will appeal towards my website more,
especially with the idea of being able to look at news on different styles of magazines and along with the realize dates of
new films, or even the ideas of bios of certain unique characters from certain films.
• Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
• When it comes down to the actual evaluation of my magazine and website , I am of the opinion that it will be In the best
interest to compare them to already existing magazines and there websites, evaluating the differences between them and
what they would seem to be like compared to my work, also thinking on the opinion of what my audience ar going to think
about my work and what it looks like in there opinion. I will then conclude the evaluation upon giving my own personal
opinion on how I have worked with magazine and website, also think about any ares that I think I could have improved if
it was necessary.

16. Magazine article-//creation
• Star wars- The last night
• This month has seen the release of the last star
wars film out of the trilogy and that has seen to
be the final film out of the trilogy and even
though some may say that there is going to be
more films from the saga after this one, but you
kind of already get the sense that this is the last
film from the title ‘The Last Jedi, for those sci-fi
loves this will no doubt be bringing sadness for
them as the famous sci fi trilogy is coming
towards an end. The general plot of the film
gives off the vibe that something happens In this
film which will generate peace throughout the
galaxy, especially by the fact that Luke Skywalker
makes a return In this final act which makes the
possibility even higher that there will be some
form of last attempt for peace to be restored to
the galaxy. Out of all the already created films
from this trilogy I feel like this film is going to be
the best and most edging out of all of them,
which means that there will probably be a huge
audience range queuing outside the door across
the country on the 15Th December, so get that
date in your diary viewers, as we can guarantee
that it Is a date of which you will want to
remember and one that you wont want to miss,
as lets be honest wear all star wars fans at heart,
I for one will be going to see it. Despite the
applaud for the fact that Luke Skywalker will be
making a actual appearance throughout the
whole film, however they have given us the sense
that he isn't going to be the Luke Skywalker’ that
we asked for and they are almost trying to get us
to hate him, almost as if they are trying to get us
to treat him as if he id some sort of secret villain
that comes out in this film, but that is very
unlikely as he has been the hero Jedi for quite
some time, the only other explanation is that
they are trying to make us think otherwise to
make things seem more intense for us as they are
trying to make us have different expectations for
the film.
