2. Lady Gaga
• From these 3 album covers I can see a
clear focus on the artist, Lady Gaga is in
each one of the CD covers, emphasising
the focus of her albums are on her and
her life. This style may be appropriate
for our particular music video as our
focal point is the artist.
• All 3 albums to the right have a quite
bright and colourful theme, the most
clearly being “Artpop,” with the use of
bright blues and pinks, again we see the
colour theme in Lady Gaga’s latest
album “Joanne,” however this time
toned down to more pastel colours. I
think this shows electropop should be
fun and freeing displayed by the colours
on the albums.
3. CHVRCHES
• Unlike Lady Gaga, CHVRCHES’ album covers
do not focus on the artist themselves, as we
can see from the CD covers on the right they
are graphic images, this suggests a different
focus to their album.
• Similarly to Lady Gaga, there seems to be a
colour scheme CHVRCHES particularly using
reds and blues. I think in our CD cover and
website we should also follow a colour
scheme to link everything back together to
the one brand. I believe this looks cleaner
and more professional.
• 2/3 of the CD covers have the bands logo on,
the 3 triangles this allows for promotion and
familiarity.
4. Owl City
• Similarly to the previous two pop/electropop
artists that I have looked at, Owl City’s
album covers also seem very colourful and
follow a colour scheme, this time being blues
and greens. The genre is a fun type of music
and I believe this is portrayed by the
colourings of the CD covers.
• Owl City uses photographs of locations on his
CD covers similarly to CHVRCHES and not
using the main focus and using artists
portraits. This seems to be a running theme
throughout Owl City’s CD covers as we see
the countryside and the sea on his covers –
using location as a theme.
• Owl city has no logos unlike previous artist,
CHVRCHES and simply uses his name on the
CD covers like Lady Gaga.
