3. We can classify plants in 2 ways:
1-*Vascular plants
*NON-vascular plants
2-*Flowering plants
*NON-flowering plants
Classifying plants
4. Vascular plants
(Gymnosperms)
They have roots and
Phloem and Xylem,
tubes through which
sap goes, so they take
the water and
nutrients from the
soil
Examples :
fir,Pinetree,cypress….
.
NON-vascular
plants
(Mosses)
They do not have roots
, Phloem or Xylem
So they take the water
from the enviroment
because they have
especial leaves
They have like roots
but not to take the
water, they have that to
stick in many places
Vascular and
NON-vascular
plants
5. Flowering
plants
(Angiosperms)
The most
numerous group
They have
beautiful, scent,
big flowers, they
grow with seeds
inside
Examples :
lavender,apple
NON-flowering
plants
(Ferns)
Mostly found in
forests , they love
dark and humid
places , also cold
They reproduce
with SPORES
Flowering and
NON-flowering
plants
6. There are 3 types of plants :
The plants that only have the
male part
( the STAMEN )
The plants that only have the
female part
( the PISTIL )
The plants that have the male
and female parts ( the 2
Sexual
reproduction
7. They are 2 types of pollination :
Insect pollination
Wind pollination
( I am going to explain that later
)
Types of
pollination
8. There are 5 types of Asexual
reproduction :
Cutting
Grafting
Rhizomes ( these are specialized
stems that grow underground )
Stolons ( specialized stems that grow
above ground )
Tuber : potatoes grow new plants .
They also are specialized
Asexual
reproduction
9. 1 flowers have pollen on the top of the
stamens
2 the pollen smells delicious to
insects
3 insects eat pollen and sticky nectar
so… the pollen travels inside the pistil
because insects take pollen
everywere!
Insect pollination
10. If the flowers are not atractive the
wind does the work .
