Film Distribution
0 This is the process of producing a movie, which is
released to audiences everywhere to view as social
enjoyment.
0 The company/ companies behind the movie set the
release date and have control over other items
regarding the movie. The film can be viewed in many
different ways, these include the cinema, television
and/ or viewing at home, e.g. downloading from
websites, DVD’s etc. For advertising reasons, the
distribution is usually partnered by film promotion.
Distribution
0There are many different ways in which Movie
trailers can be distributed. Here are a few of
them;
Online and Mobile
0 From when the film is first announced for production,
the company/ companies that are behind it can create
early excitement by informing people through
websites and adverts, this allows for people to start to
talk about the movie and gain some publicity from it.
It would benefit the company too, as if people know
about it from an early time, they would become
desperate to see it, and as the distribution would be
free, they could make some decent profit.
Social Media
0 Similar to online and mobile, allowing for the
knowledge of a movie to be known. Spreading the
message about the new movie that millions of people,
who are on the various social media sites, including
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
Word of mouth
0 After hearing about the movie from a source, e.g.
Social Media, Online, and Posters. People will begin to
talk about the movie and generate excitement. This
would happen most in schools, where one or two
people start to talk about the film, and then get others
interested in the film.
Poster
0 Poster’s would develop excitement, Posters are a great
way at distributing the movie, as looking at a poster,
you can see what sort of ideas are going to happen in
the film. Also the poster shows who is in the film,
almost confirmation of it, as Online, Social Media and
Word Of Mouth could all be rumours, the Poster
would be created by the company/ companies that
have made the film.
Film Marketing
0 This is very important because the company needs to
generate hype about the film. If you generate hype,
you will get sales. Marketing allows businesses to
promote their product, in this case it would be the
movie, and by using materials such as celebrities and
adverts to promote the movies, it allows for them to
make the film more well known and expand people’s
knowledge of the film. Marketing is a vital aspect in
how the film industry operates.
Film Promotion
0 These are important because there are so many ways
in which the film can be promoted. Through television
and radio, social media, promoting the film is easy and
cheap. It is also vital from the company’s perspective
because they have spent millions of the actors,
directors, producers, locations etc., and if people don’t
know that the film has been made and is available to
watch, they are going to lose a lot of money. So
promoting the film is key to making it successful.
