1. Survey Results
The answers for this question show that the majority of students who are interested in reading
the magazine are people between the age range of 13-16 as the percentiles 13-14 and 15-16
both got a similar amount of responses and so I will probably aim the magazine's design and
contents at these audiences by adding articles to with A-levels and GCSE’s as the students
taking these exams are in these age brackets.
2. These responses show me that the majority of people interested in the magazine are male but I
will still probably design it for both genders as it is a school magazine and will entail both
genders anyway. I may contain more information about boys extra curricular activities such as
the boys football team due to these results though. One person skipped this question even
though there was a prefer not to say option incase people would not have answered the other
questions honestly if they had given their gender.
3. The results for this question are very mixed, with 26% saying monthly, 21% saying on occasion,
and 17% saying weekly and during certain times. Even though i believe the most important
results from this question are the first 4 responses as this gives a clear understanding of how
many people would buy the magazine if it were to be released.
4. The results were very clear for this question with ‘All of the above’ being the most popular
answer, this is was probably the best response to get because otherwise the would not be much
content in the magazine, but extra-curricular activities and sports was the second most
answered choice so I will add more content on this area more than the others. Similarly I will do
the same for any pages on school life.
5. This data shows me that 76% of people would not spend over £1.99 on a magazine so the price
will have to be between this price range otherwise there will be a small amount of people willing
to buy it in the first place. The only way I probably increase the price from over £1.99 is by
adding freebies into the magazine to entice the audience that way. Nobody responded with less
than £1 for the magazine which means that the price will probably be between £1.50 and £1.99.
6. The responses for this question shows that the school colours would be the most suitable for
the magazine, the other two most selected colours are blue and white which are the two major
school colours anyway and it makes sense to use this as the colour scheme for the magazine.
7. This data shows me that the majority of people believe that the magazine should have over 10
pages, which is probably the best. I should have laid out this question differently as I now do not
have an exact number of pages people would like to have in the magazine. Also the numbers
should have been grouped, for example 5-7 etc. This way I would of had more room for more
varied responses.
8. The responses to this correlate well with question 3, with monthly being the most regular time
people buy magazines and also monthly is the most selected option for the question. This is
probably the best option as it allows for topic to accumulate, the only problem with this is that
things such as notices will be hard to implement into the magazine due to the long time period in
between each addition.
9. This was a question which could be ranked in order to highest to lowest 1 being the best and 3
being the worst. I will probably do a mixture between the top two; Delivery to form room and
Buying from reception this will allow for flexibility of when people want to buy the magazine but
also gives everyone the opportunity to buy it.
10. ‘Ilsley’s insider’ was the most popular name on the survey so this is what people in the school
want the magazine name suits the school the best. So this is the name I will use.
