Question 1: What is your age?
This means that I will have to target my
magazine more on teenagers 17 to 18 and also
on the older people. However, there were also
other people who are a different age, this is
shown on my graph so I will need to cover
these ages in order for my magazine to also
relate to them.
Question one is relevant for my school magazine
as I would need to know who I’m going to focus
for my target audience and see the variations of
people I get depending on the age. On my graph
there were 21 responses and by having these
many responses it gives me more of an idea on
what age the person taking the survey may be.
As you can see the majority of the people who
took the survey were 17 to 18 years old and also
some of them were 75 or older.
Question 2 : What is your gender?
This question is significant for my school magazine as I would like to know
whether the person is male or female and if they have chosen ‘not to specify’
then this indicates that the person may not be comfortable in saying what their
gender is. By having these different results this suggests that I will have to focus
my school magazine on all genders and not just one or else this wont attract my
readers to buy the magazine.
In my results there were
more female than there
were men, this suggests
that maybe more females
may be more interested in
magazines rather than
men. However, I will still
be equally targeting the
magazine on all genders
to attract more readers to
buy my magazine.
Question 3: How often do you buy a magazine?
This question is useful because it tells me how often they buy a magazine, this
suggests that if the person buys the magazine daily then they’re most likely to
purchase one and read it. If they have chosen they have never brought a
magazine there’s a small chance that they may buy a school magazine as it may
not interest them or they may generally not be into reading magazines.
As you can see my results
mostly say that people often
buy a magazine as the majority
have chosen ‘every week’ and
‘every month’. Both these
results have the same
percentage (23.81%) so this
suggests that the people who
have done my survey may be
interested in purchasing my
school magazine daily.
Question 4: How much would you pay for a
magazine?
This question tells me how much the person would be willing to pay for a
magazine. By having this question it gives me an idea on how much I’m going to
have my magazine at. This is relevant because if I made my magazine too
Expensive then the audience may
not be willing to pay for the
magazine and this wouldn’t
benefit me as I wouldn’t be selling
the magazine. By making it
affordable, the user can be able to
easily purchase the magazine. As
you can see the options ‘£1.00’
and ‘£3.00 or more’ have the
same results so I’m going to have
to focus the price on either £1.00
or £3.00.
Question 5: What would you most want to be
notified about?
This question gives me an idea on what people would want to be notified about.
This is relevant because I will be able to know what to include in my magazine, if
I just wrote about anything in the school magazine then it may not target the right
audience.
By having a selection of options and multiple
choices the audience can be able to have
more than one topic to be notified about
rather than just one; this gives people a
choice.
I have chosen relevant options so it can relate
to the school magazine I’m doing.
For my magazine I’m going to choose maybe
2 or three of these options, based on which
one was the most popular which were the
schools lunch menu, information about
exams and after school clubs/activities.
Question 6: If there was advice given in the
magazine, what advice would you like to see?
This question is relevant for my
school magazine as it gives me an
indication on what people may
need consultation on. The most
popular one was ‘revision tips’, this
may be due to the amount of teens
who did my survey so they may
need advice on revising due to
their upcoming exams. Also,
learning difficulties and advice on
bullying are popular options so I
may have to include these topics
as well to attract more readers and
giving them more to read about.
Question 7: What title/name would interest you
the most for a school magazine?
This is relevant because by having an
interesting title/name it’ll capture the
readers attention. If the title was plain
and straightforward it wouldn’t attract
the reader since it would be boring.
33.33% of the people who took my
survey chose the endeavour, the
reason they may have chosen this is
because it sounds intriguing instead
of just the school name and the title
that was most popular is inspired by
the schools prayer so if people know
the school or go there it gives them a
personal relationship because they
can be able to identify on what
school it’s going to be.
Question 8: What colour theme would you like for
the magazine?
This is relevant as you would like
appropriate colours for the school
magazine to attract and intrigue the
readers, if it was mainly blacks and
greys this wouldn’t attract them as
they are quite boring and bland
colours. I have chosen bold colours
for each option as this will make my
school magazine more lively and
vibrant to capture their eye. The most
popular on was reds, pinks and white
as 33.33% people chose this option
so I will have to focus on these
colours to satisfy the audience.
Question 9: What subject most fascinates you in
reading about?
The reason I have put this question in for
survey is because people may be
interested in finding out about certain
school subjects and what each year may
be learning about. In my results, the lowest
vote was maths, this suggests that I can
still include maths but I may do a small
section on this subject as the most popular
one was English (42.86%) this tells me my
audience is more interested in this subject,
so I’m going to have to focus on writing
more about English.
By including all these subjects in my
school magazine it gives people a choice
to see what they may want information on
rather than having just one subject
because they won’t be able to access the
information easily as each person may not
be interested in just English.
Question 10: How many pages long would you
like the magazine to be?
This question will help me for my school
magazine as it gives me an idea on how
many pages I should have my magazine
up to. The most popular option was 51
to 60 (33.33%) and the reason people
may have chosen this is because it
gives people more of an option to read
on different things and they can be able
to choose what they read instead of
having just a small amount it would be
boring and it wouldn’t interest the reader
as much since they have little options of
what they may want to know about.
