From the results of this question it is clear that roughly
the same amount of males and females were asked.
However, the result is slightly more male dominated.
This will impact the other results, such as
hobbies/interests and what would be more successful
in a college magazine.
2. Age of people surveyed
16 17 18 19+
2) How old are you?
The majority of the people surveyed were 16 or 17,
the age of most people at college. This will provide
better results as they will be the main target
audience for the magazine. However, for 19+ this
could apply to teachers at the college, meaning it
would increase the demand for magazines.

The hobbies/interests of the people that
were surveyed range from football to
exams, they were all very different meaning
the magazines will have to cover a range of
subjects. However, football, gaming and
socialising were the most popular results,
this will have a big impact on what the
magazines will focus on to attract as much
of the target audience as possible.

The results show that the categories for this
question are fairly even but music was the most
popular response. To attract a range of readers
the magazine will have to include several
different topics as the content will majorly
affect how many people will buy the magazine.

The most popular result from the survey
was monthly, followed by weekly. This
result may affect how much the people
would be willing to pay for the magazine,
for example, if it was brought out monthly
they may be willing to pay more for it

The results show that people are willing to pay
between £1 and £2 for a college magazine,
however, the results are fairly spread out. The next
popular result is £1 or under, so to attract as many
people as possible there would have to be a
sensible price between the two categories.

Bright colours are clearly preferred on
magazines going by the results from
the survey. This will impact what kind
of target audience will be attracted to
the magazine, it is important to use
what the people surveyed would prefer
to see as the front cover is what
attracts people to buy/read the
magazine.

8) What design would you like to see on a magazine?
For the design of the college magazine the results
show that a classy and subtle theme would be
preferred. However, the normal appearance of a
magazine is also popular, meaning there would have
to be a design that is somewhere between the two
results. The design of the magazine will also impact
how many are sold because this is what the audience
see first of all to determine whether they buy the
magazine or not.

The results show that the number of people that
never read magazines and the number of people
that rarely read them are nearly equal. This will
affect how many magazines are released over a
period of time, meaning it may be better to
release a magazine monthly opposed to every
week because more people are likely to
read/buy it.

freebees?
The majority of people surveyed said they would
like to receive freebees/offers in the college
magazine. The amount of freebees on offer could
impact how many people buy a magazine, for
example, if the magazine was released monthly
then there could be a chance of having more offers
in it therefore more people would be encouraged
to buy it.
