School Magazine Questionnaire – Evaluation By Sundas Bostan R3
Introduction I needed further research , to make my school magazine suitable for everyone and something worth while and a great school magazine that people would enjoy reading .So I did this questionnaire and it was given to,15 random pupils and teachers , to help me make my school magazine more personal to them. Then I analysed the results and have showed them in this PowerPoint
Question 1- Do you read magazines, if yes? How often? magazines Question Answer Analysis Question 1 – 75% of pupils/teachers, which is above half of the pupils chose the “Monthly” option, compared to the 35% of those who chose the “Weekly” option. This suggests that many pupils prefer to read the monthly magazines as there is more information on what has happened within the last month rather then weekly , which just displays the events of the past seven days . Also the cost of production for the magazines would be less , as less paper and ink would be wasted , in contrast with a magazine which would have been published weekly . However there where some pupils/teachers who preferred not to read magazines , as they said it was a waste of time and there where other methods, to get up to date on the latest news , E.g. radio and television. Number of Pupils Categories
Question 2-What would you like to see in a school magazine? (Circle 3) (E.g. Revision Tips &Horoscopes) Number of Pupils Categories
Question 2 - What would you like to see in a school magazine? (Circle 3) Answer Analysis I used this question to see, what pupils/teachers where interested in reading , as this would help me choose which topics I would include in my school magazine. I left a spare column for other ideas, or topics that pupils where also interested in ,which was not mentioned in the categories . Four pupils/teachers who chose the “Other” category , wrote the topics there where more interested in where, revision/study tips and horoscopes. This helped me understand that not pupils interests are the same ,but still every vote counts ,so I will try to add different topics about revision and horoscopes in my school magazine as it will boost the popularity of the magazine therefore more pupils will be fascinated by it and will encourage sales . The highest category chosen was “After school clubs” which was eleven pupils /teachers, in contrast with “Advice for exams” category , which was six pupils/teachers. This implies, that pupils/teachers are most involved and concerned ,with after school clubs and so including that in my school magazine , will immediately grab the attention of many potential buyers . Other pupils chose “Subject revision” and “Trips”, as pupils wanted to be aware of any up coming trips and catch up revision in some subjects .
Question 3 - What colour scheme do you prefer to be used in a school magazine ? (Circle 2) Number of Pupils Colour Schemes ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],In Question 3, I asked which colour schemes I should use for my school magazine to be more attractive and therefore help relate to pupils/teachers in the school. I gave seven options to chose from ,as giving a wider range of options you are getting a wider range of answers. The majority of pupils chose the “Red,Green,Yellow and Black” option, this was a coincidence as these colours are the school colours and so will help relate the magazine to school life. The least chosen option was “White, Black and Green” , it may be because at was a random choice of colours and did not relate to the school.
Question 4 - Would you prefer more images , text or a balance of both ? I used question 4 , to find out if pupils , preferred more , images than text or a balance of both. The isn't much of range between the options . Most people chose more images ,however the balance of both text and images, was not far behind. taking this research further, when making my school magazine I will try and get a general balance between the use of images and text, but preferably use more images as ,images speak louder then words. Number of Pupils Categories
Question 5 - What types of images would you like to see? Question 5 asks which type of image , they would like to see in my school magazine ,e.g. which angles or types of shots would interest them and get there attention and make them carry on reading. The majority of pupils/teachers chose the mid-shots options , which are images from the waist upwards and are given in better detail then , if taken as a long shot, using this type of camera angle shows the persons facial expressions which would be happy as they would be enjoying school life. Categories Number of Pupils
Question 6 - What size would you prefer for the images to be? Question 6 asks what size images would pupils/teachers like to see in my school magazine. The category with the maximum marks was medium as the pictures wouldn't be too small so you cant see anything , but not too big as it would fill up the page and you wouldn’t be able to read the text. By using medium size pictures is easier to balance your mind on both images and text rather than one being larger than the other. Number of Pupils Categories
Question 7 - What are you willing to pay for the school magazine? I used quesiton 7 to see whether people are willing to pay for the magazine ,if it was priced.the results show that 6 pupil/teacher would only get the magazine if it was free of charge around four pupils/teacher said that they are willing to pay 10-30p for the school magazine. To conclue I think I will make my school magazine free of charge as it has the higehst vote and , the best things in life come free.
