Evaluation question 6
1. 'WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE PROCESS
OF CONSTRUCTING THIS PRODUCT?'
2. PRE-PRODUCTION STAGES
• During the Pre-Production stage we used a variety of different technologies and to begin we started
researching by using a range of websites such as; IMDb, Wikipedia, BFI along with the aid of Bloggers
sites and Google searches, we used these sites as they were some of the most reliable sources we had.
Then using blogger we created an online blog where we could post our research along and ideas for
the film along with out other work such as these evaluation questions. We used Google to research into
conventions of the Sci-fi genre, looking at the best forms of lighting to use, locations typically
associated with a Sci-fi film but also what camera angles and effects are used within Sci-fi films. We
began using Celtx which is a script writing software, this was a great piece of software as it was quick
and easy to write a script with as it instantly formatted it to a professional script with everything in the
right places such as headings, shot locations etc.
3. PRE-PRODUCTION STAGES (CONT.)
• We then moved on to look into similar films but in more detail, taking note on the
characters, locations, editing etc. this gave us an idea of how we could fit our film
into the conventions of the Sci-Fi genre. Using Art of the Title sequence we were
able to analysis a title sequence and create a post on blogger, going into detail
about the title sequence. Along with this we also created a Production logo and
ident using Photoshop and after effects.
4. PRODUCTION
• Obviously for the production of our film, this included filming the shots we needed
to be edited later on in Post-Production. We used a ‘Panasonic HD-V270’ and
‘Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ82’ with these being two difference styles of camera we
were originally worried about the quality differing greatly from each other but
luckily both sets of footage was very similar in quality. The size of the camera
allowed us to archive a range of shots such as low angles, high angles and tracking
shots etc. but the camera also restricted us from doing somethings such as; the
quality of the footage wasn’t crystal clear and we couldn’t focus the camera
manually.
5. POST-PRODUCTION
• The Post-Production stage involved editing together all the scenes we had shot the
pervious weeks, adding in any visual effects that were needed along with ADR
(Automatic Dialogue Replacement), sound effects and music. To edit everything
together we used a program called ‘Adobe – Premiere Pro’ and to create the visual
effects we used another program called ‘Adobe – After Effects’ these were very
useful as it was quick and easy to edit together all our footage making the process
very efficient, saving us lot of time. We then created a questionnaire about out
finished film and posted this onto Facebook along with our finished film for people
to give us feedback on it.
