Evaluation q4
1. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction,
research, planning and
evaluation stages?
2. Introduction
• Throughout the process of my A2 Media
Studies coursework I have used a number
of different technologies throughout and
they have aided the production of the
Survival Kills trailer in many different ways
3. Blogger
• This was the hub where throughout the
entirety of the process I have posted all
my work for all stages of the coursework. I
have been able to post presentations,
Aswell as embedding sound, video and
other technologies such as Prezi and
Powtoon with relative ease.
4. YouTube
• YouTube is a video sharing website and I
used it throughout the process of the
coursework. For example I used it to
research horror trailers in the planning
stage and we also used YouTube to post
our final film trailer. Posting it on YouTube
also allowed us to see what people
thought of the various drafts of the trailer
we uploaded.
5. Macs
• An Apple Mac is the computer which I
completed most of my work on. Although
when I was at home I used my personal
laptop but this was mainly for the planning
stage because I do not have the programs
necessary to create high quality
professional standard film trailers and print
work.
6. Adobe Premier and After Effects
• These two software's were used solely for
editing the film trailer. It is professional
heavily detailed piece of editing software
that we thought was the best available to
us to make a film trailer. After Effects was
mainly used to add in small things such as
production company logos and was not
used to construct the actual trailer.
7. Adobe Photoshop
• Adobe Photoshop is piece of software
which allows user to heavily distort and
edit images. This software allowed me to
help produce the print based work. The
complexity and detail of the programme let
us create 3 professional and slick pieces
of print work. It wad also easy for us to
easily show the viewer what we was trying
to get across.( horror film poster and
magazine cover)
8. Cameras
• We used a high quality camera to film our
trailer. The cameras were only used in the
production process and at no other stage.
The quality of the cameras really allowed
us to create a sense of horror. We was
able to change the aperture and
brightness to create different atmospheres
throughout the trailer.
9. Mobile phones
• Mobile phones were only used in the
production stage of the coursework and
meant that I was able to stay in constant
contact with people from my group and to
arrange days on which we would film as
well as general queries with other group
members.
10. IMDB
• The Internet Movie Database is a film
website where you can find out all you
want on a specific film. This website was
key in the planning stage because I
needed to research common themes,
characters and locations in horror films
and I was able to do so using the site.
11. Facebook
• Facebook was only used after we had
finished creating our trailer it was used to
try and gain feedback on what
improvements people thought we should
make to our trailer so Facebook was only
used as an evaluative tool to try an
improve our trailer.
12. Celltx
• Before starting this coursework I had
never used Celltx before and was a bit
sceptical but once I had gotten used to it I
found it very easy to help try and plan for
the filming of our film because we created
the trailers script on there.
13. Prezi and Powtoon
• Prezi and Powtoon are two pieces of
online software's which allow you to make
innovative and creative presentations
which allow viewers to interact with what
they are reading or watching. I feel these
two online software's allowed me to
express my ideas clearly and creatively
and is a nice change to using Microsoft
PowerPoint.
14. Search Engines
• During the research and planning stage I
had to do a lot of research in to previously
made horror trailers and the different
search engines allowed me to easily find
information that I wanted.
